Tonight we got out some of our older Disney home movies from our WDW trips in 1997 & 1999. We hadn't watched them since right after we got home from each trip. On one of our tapes we discovered that we had taped almost the entire ride of Journey Into Your Imagination - before it was "refurbished". It was really awesome to see Dreamfinder & Figment in their original bits again!

It was also really awesome & touching seeing our DD - then 4, now 11, playing in the fountain of Epcot. What seemed so unordinary back then compared to all the rides, parades, character interaction, really seemed like the highlight of the trip when we looked back on it, and how much fun she had splashing & giggling.

There was also the Epcot "Tapestry of Nations" parade that was our very favorite. One particular time we'd noticed that our DD seemed to be the center of all the parade CM's attention. It must've been the long blonde ponytails & the missing two front teeth & the million dollar smile...princess: . When we watched the tape we counted 23 interactions between the parade CMs & our DD...waving, blowing kisses, pulling her out & dancing with her, shaking her hand w/the puppet's hand, bowing...it was awesome.

Sorry this is SOOOO long, but it's been over 3 years now since we've been to visit the Magic, and will likely be quite a few years down the road. It was nice to remember the magic! :earsboy:

You know, that was one of the greatest things about the Tapestry of Nations. The CMs always did an outstanding job of interacting with the guests who were watching. As an Annual Passholder I got to see the parade a lot and it never ceased to amaze me at how involved the guests were.

It's so sad that they removed the parade and didn't replace it with anything.

NOT TO LONG,,IT was WONDERFUL......I know the feeling of seeing the tapes,,,,I can not tell you how many HOURS and HOURS we have,,and our son is 22 now,,so all those younger times are sooooooooooooo exciting to watch...at the time they were NICE now they are PRICELESS. Thanks for sharing your happy memories!!!!

How neat to watch and reflect upon---makes me wish we bought a camcorder to capture those moments when we were at WDW last...I am just afraid I would use it too much and either not enjoy the moment, or never watch the tapes once we had them....but now I am second guessing myself!

Great thread and I agree with the person who said how sad it was that they removed the parade and didn't replace it with another.

Loved the OP's memory too of Figment and Dreamfinder!!! I miss seeing them outside the pavillion too and wish to heck they hadn't changed the ride....so many people thought the original ride was lame but sometimes lame is GOOD! :p

Thanks to the OP for sharing her video memories with us....it made me *sigh*

Wwwwww, that is so neat!! I would love to see your Journey Into Imagination footage, how cool you have that!!

I can imagine how great watching those tapes must have been!! I love looking at my old home movies and pictures!

Very nice memories! I can only hope that when my kids (3 and 1 and baby?) are 11, we can pull out the "old movies" and watch them. You forget when you are trying to see everyhting that your kids are seeing the real magic, and making the most fun they can have...ie playing in the fountain!

I shoukd pull out our tapes from last Oct; my kids love watching themselves.

Isn't it wonderful to look back on what was at WDW! I have the entire Horizons ride on tape. I also have ToN that I filmed in England. It looks like I was in the middle of the street and in a way I was. There's a stone monument (?) near the Rose and Crown. I sat there and WOW, what a view to see that parade.

I have bits of JII and the entire Sorcery in the Sky fireworks. What fun! I've got to find that tape and watch it. :D
