because it seems that everyone who posts on the board regarding the AKL seem to have one gripe! That is about the buses going to the parks. It seems that everyone is so excited to be going back to WDW, but hey it somehow takes forever to get to one or another park. People! Everyone goes on vacation to relax, sit back and be mellow. I don't seem to understand the neccessity of getting to their destination first. The rides won't move, niether will the parks.

If there are others who read the threads and agree with me then post your thoughts too. This isn't a thread to upset people, but just so what if it takes a little longer to get there. Relax and enjoy the world!

i don't mind the ride to the parks from any of the resorts we have stayed at----as long as i don't have to drive i'm just fine:smooth: ----that being said i also live in south florida and go quite a bit so im never in a hurry---if we miss something this trip we will see it next time...i'd also like to point out we move a little slow in the morning so we have never tried to get to the parks first and we were there this may when they did the extra magic hours at night and thought they were awesome

we have stayed at AKL and thought there transportation was great and not a bad ride to any of the parks at all:D

When we went to AKL last summer, we were blown away by all of it, including the bus transportation. Maybe our expectations were different, though-- DH's whole family was with us, so 7 out of 8 of us were from the greater Boston area where they take public transport all the time and are used to waiting and a lot of stops. These buses didn't have any of that as far as we perceived. And we love not having to drive anywhere.

Just goes to show that everyone is different, right? :D

A funny thing happened at the AK one day. A woman to the side of me saw some beautiful flowers. She very thoughtfully paused, looked at the flowers and then gently pulled one of the flowers to her nose so that she could smell it. It was then that I said " I'm sorry. You don't have time to smell the roses". We both laughed.

I love riding the buses and people watching and scenery watching.

The thought the AKL bus rides were short, even to the MK.

No big resort loop to go around like at CBR.

herc.

Just wanted to say that I love the AKL. But then again, we love to stop and smell the roses!:D

Personally, I love all the Disney transportation. Hey, I am happy to not have to drive the whole time I am there. It is a much nicer and certainly more relaxing vacation if you are not being "park commandos" and racing here and there, trying to be first.

My only complaint is the long lines--and no place to sit to rest tired feet--at park/event closing! But I'm learning to hang back and let everyone else rush out to stand in line! :)

Amen to that sister! :earsgirl:

I l9ve riding the buses and people watching...that is teh best at WDW!!! The best form of entertainment besides WISHES!:earsgirl: :earsboy:

Now I'm one of those "I would rather have my own car and not have to wait etc."
BUT.. My cousin and her family LOVE the busses. She says she would much rather ride the busses since she does not have to drive and you are getting into a nice cool vehicle and not a hot car that has to cool down. She does have a good point with that one!

We also use the bus while at AKL...never have had a problem and never had to stand. As a matter of fact, alot of the time there are empty seats. We go the last week of August. And as for the "long" ride that people complain about...we've never thought it was long, even to MK. Akl doesn't share with another resort so right there you save on transfer time to the parks. The reason we're going back to AKL this year, besides the beauty of the resort, is because of the great bus transportation.

OK, I promise on our upcoming trip to slow down and smell the roses. We are not staying at AKL but POFQ. I will do my best to make sure that my family and myself will not get upset and get in a big hurry. We will be trying to relax and enjoying our trip. In the past I really enjoyed all the different people that we can meet on the bus. BY the way, being from the midwest, I love to see the beautiful flowers they have at WDW. Typhoon Lagoon has wonderful flowers, I have noticed.
Thanks for posting this thread. It made me stop to think. Maybe if more of us try to take it easy and not rush through our trips so, then all of us can really enjoy ourselves. There is no offense meant here so please don't take any.

I agree 100%:Pinkbounc

DGF and I were at AKL last Dec. and found the bus service flawless. There were even times (Going to PI) where we had the bus to ourselves!pirate:

I actually learned alot of things on the busses. I haven't stayed at AK, but the busses at CBR weren't bad just long lines and packed busses. If one was too full I would wait until the next one.

Back to the learning alot of things. I would strike up conversation with people about where they were from, how long were they staying etc. We would trade ideas on things we've been to and what we liked. I hadn't even thought about going to one of the water parks until I talked to someone about them on the busses!

I agree, take some time and smell the roses. It's not like the MK is going to move any time soon. Besides, the airconditioned ride on the busses is nice.

I can definitely relate. Instead of getting upset about waiting for a bus (which I don't remember the wait being that terrible anyway) I always talk to complete strangers that are also waiting. You can meet some interesting people from all over the world just waiting at the bus stop! And like you said, they sometimes have tips that I would never have known if not for our chance bus encounter. :sunny:

I hear what you are saying (the original poster of this thread) but I can honestly say that what little experience I have had with the busses to/from AKL- I will never be staying there. I understand about the relaxing and such- but it's not very relaxing sitting waiting for a bus for an hour with 3 young children. Atleast it's not for me.... maybe it is for you. LOL

We only went to check out AKL (and then another time STUPIDLY thought since it was the first bus leaving AK when we were and our bus line was so long- that we could go to AKL and catch a bus from there to DTD since that is where we were going before going back to ASSp anyway) and every time it was extremely long waits at AKL to leave to go ANYWHERE... except AK and MK. We saw many many many of those buses before we saw buses to anywhere else. Buses to DTD especially took forever. We've already decided we'll NEVER stay at AKL... unless maybe it's a me/spouse only trip and we have no intentions of checking out parks or going anywhere with a PS set time or anything of that nature- which is probably never going to happen.

We are not always in a hurry... but when you wait 1hr 20min for the first DTD bus and then have to fight your way on it (even though there was only 2 people there before you) because so many people are waiting at that point that they'd fill up atleast 2 buses with 3 kids... you kinda get soured on smelling the roses and such. LOL Maybe if we were alone it wouldn't have been such a big deal. (yes this really happened- there was even other people going up to other buses that came through- going to other parks I mean- asking them if they'd "call" to find out why we weren't getting a bus to DTD for such a long time)

I like Disney Transportation. Prefer letting someone else do the driving. If I don't have to drive (and believe me in California,we drive everywhere--usually in traffic), I can feel even more removed from the real world. We have had some long waits before, but try and make the best of it.

We just returned from AKL and we never had to wait very long for a bus and even the ride to MK didn't seem that long. I enjoy the bus transportation at AKL. I know one day when we were leaving Epcot we waited the nearly 20 minutes but that's because when we were leaving the park, we just missed the bus leaving Epcot. My DD and I saw it pulling out when we came around the corner.

I totally agree. If I can get a seat I don't mind the busses or how long the trip is. It's fun to relax and watch what goes on outside the window. It's standing on a crowded bus that bothers me. I just think it's a very unsafe practice.
