Just had Afternoon Tea at the Grand Floridian - LONG

The iced rasberry tea and the strawberries and cream are awsome!

Check out the menu on www.wdwig.com/menu/menus.htm

You can choose the Tea for Two which gives you a little of everything or there are other options like Tea with Strawberries & Devinshire Cream.

It is a wonderful experience. I always take my sister when she visits it is so relaxing and fun.

Great review I could smell the Formosa Tea.

we have had the Tea for 2 several times, but it seems you all had more selections. do you know if this is because there were more in the party? we have not had the onion tart or the choice of trifle or strawberries. we just had the pastry tower selections plus the other foods mentioned. is this a change in the menu for the Tea for 2? thanks for the wonderful review of one of my favorites!:p

Thanks so much for your beautifully written review--I felt like I was there! We meant to do GF tea last fall, but we will definitely do it this year.

I have done tea at Harrod's in London and have hosted a couple of tea parties myself, but it's been too long and I am anxious to experience it again. It is such a relaxing meal and always feels special.

Wow, what a great report! Thank you for taking the time to post it!

Went for tea last October at GF. Disboo-my sister and I had cokes. We just hid them ,behind the flowers on our table, for the pictures.:D You will love the china, I bought some for my mother for christmas, so that she can enjoy this while home in WI. No one has mentioned the fruit and cheese platter as a choice. It is very large. I shared this with my sister, along with the tea sandwiches. To finish the meal we had the trifle, Yummy:D :D. We leave in 10 days for a quick 3 night stay at CBR, Mom says no tea this time, maybe we will have to reconsider??;)

I've never noticed anything special about china at Disney is this meal different? Just curious, in general I have a bit of a dish feddish, so what could be better than Disney dishes:smooth:

I have seen some photos of tea at GF and it looks like they use the Royal Albert pattern... you know.. it's a very busy pattern with red/orange/yellow? flowers on white.

>>^..^<<

Was all this included in the Tea For Two or did you order some things extra? I am trying to figure out how to get my DH to do this with me.

100% Disney - Everything that we had was included in the Tea for Two. There are other menu options (a la carte selection and other prix fixe meal choices) that can be added or enjoyed on their own.

The menu at www.wdwig.com is very accurate and can give you an idea of all the options available.

BTW, I forgot to mention there were bouquets of fresh flowers on every table. It was an absolutely beautiful atmosphere.

Just in case anyone's husbands were wondering, there were probably seven or eight men enjoying the tea while we were there. Some had tea, some had coffee, and one had a HUGE glass of ice! When you want iced tea they bring this glass packed full of ice. The tea is brewed so hot (I think the server said 140 or 160 degrees?) that you need a LOT of ice to cool it down.

I have not been to tea at the GF but that sounds like Old Country Roses by Royal Albert.

prncess674 - The pattern is a LOT busier than that. There is a flower pattern all over the dishes. I wish I could remember. I even made a special point to look. UGH! Maybe my mother will remember. I'll ask.

Maybe this one? This is called chintz by Royal Albert

Yes, that does look more like it. I don't remember the colors being that dark, but maybe it looks darker in the picture. (Or maybe it's my memory! LOL ;) )

As that was November 2001, I think they might be using something different now. Please don't hold me to this - LOL, but I'm pretty sure that we did not dine on Old Country Roses. The only reason I say this is that my grandmother has a tea set in this pattern and I just thought that I would have recognized it right off.

We took pictures, I just haven't developed them yet. I'll let you know.

This is a great thread. I never really knew what this tea thing was all about.
Thanx for the great topic!.....

We did dine on Old Country Rose china. Maybe they have different patterns? There are menu selections specifically for men, Gentleman's Tea platter, if it is as large as the fruit and cheese platter he will be happy. Although I'm not sure if my husband would enjoy this. There have always been some men in the room when I have been there. The English Trifle is a desert with Cake /strawberries /pudding /whipped cream. Very filling, but very good.
