Something occurred to me today :scared1:

If you book a venue that can done 12 months out, how do you secure that with a reservation number for the rooms?

We want to book SBP for December 2009 but Disney don't start taking bookings for the year until January. How do you book something at 12 months?

This might sound like a daft question but does the 4 nights minimum for an Escape have to co-incide with the wedding dates or can it be at any time?

Sorry if this is an obvious question but the answers not coming to me and I'm having a mild panic...

Take a deep breath!!;)

You can change things a little...book your reservation for the four nights when you want your wedding to be and use that reservation number to book your wedding. If things "slide" a bit, you can adjust either your reservation or your ceremony date.

I'm guessing that since Disney is now requiring the room reservation before booking the date that they are doing everything in their power to assure you have a ceremony location within your four days.

And I'm pretty sure your four days can be before your wedding or a couple days after...they don't like your wedding to be the day you arrive though so you'll need to be there at least a day before.

When the time comes to book the wedding location if you can be flexible in the time, you might have better luck if there is high demand for the location.

Does that help some?

Hi Denise,

It does a little, thank you. The big concern I have is that Disney don't take bookings until January 2009 for the December so I can't book anything until then. Even if I alter the reservation afterwards I can't book SBP in December of this year.

I'm thinking that other people must have had similar if they've booked a venue at 12 month out no matter what time of year it was for.

I booked my reservation in August 2007 for my July 2008 wedding. I don't understand why Disney wouldn't let you book later this year, closer to 2009, but before your twelve month mark. Maybe I'm wrong though...:confused3

Hi Liz,

What happened about your room reservation number to put on the contract?

I'm in the same boat, planning on a Dec 2009 wedding.

They gave me a room reservation # when I booked, which I passed along to DFTW. I think I had four business days from reserving my wedding date to book my room and give them a res. #. HTH!

Disney will book room reservations 500 days out. This is for room only, not packages and the rates are not guaranteed. Basically right now they are booking through June 2009 but any rates after December 2008 will be adjusted in August when they announce the rates. HTH

I looked on the website to figure out how much it will cost us (room only) for Oct. 2009, but got an error message saying they are only booking up til Dec. 31, 2008.

I was looking because we have a trip in April that I booked through AAA. The difference between Disney's quote and my AAA price was 25%. So my plan was to get the prices from Disney's site, then take off 25% to see how much it *could* be through AAA.

*sigh*

I've just done the same!

Sorry, I got a year ahead of myself...it should have read booking through June 09 with guarantee rates through December 2008. For 2009 rooms you must call so they can read the disclaimer of the none guaranteed rate.

we are stopping at the boardwalk villas and have "paid" for rooms for the whole family with DVC points. Even though this is our home resort, we could not book until 11 months out, so when we booked our wedding at the 12 month mark, we hade no accomodation sorted, but there was no problem, surely it must be the same for rooms paid for with cash, if disney's own system doesnt allow you to book that far out.good luck!

Well, I didn't know that. Absolutely brilliant, thank you! :worship:

Me too!! I wanted to see the prices for Poly in May 09 but their calendar does nt go that far as of yet, lol. It would just be nice to at least know the cost of accomodation even if we are nt able to book it yet! All im doing at the moment is looking at this Mays prices to try to get somewhat of an idea.

Hopefully the prices for 2009 wont be too far off from appearing (fingers crossed)

Even if you book a deluxe resort, you can always switch down and have the money you put down for the room transfer.

I hear ya. I used this October's prices and am just kind of hoping it stays around that.

Is there a certain amount it usually increases each year?

I don't know if this is worth anything or not, but I found this list of resort rates from 2007. I was trying to see how much the rates increased from last year to this year to get an idea of how they might increase for next year.

http://www.yourmagicaljourneys.com/WDW/2007room.htm

We're looking at the wilderness lodge, and I can see it went up $10 (for the regular season). I didn't check the other seasons or resorts, but hopefully it's all the same and it can help everyone looking for 2009 rates (or an estimate) like me.

:)

I also found this

"Wedding prices begin at $4,000 for an Escape Wedding Collection gathering for two. Wishes Wedding Collection ceremonies start at $10,000 for 10 guests or more. An average wedding at Disney is about $28,000 for 100 people.."

from this website
http://www.wdwnews.com/ViewPressRelease.aspx?PressReleaseID=99882
dated in 2007.

Now since the 2008 prices for escape weddings are $4500, should we expect them to go up another $500 too??
