My first time posting here, have been reading for a while.
I have a Disney Visa and got the email today about the Kids for Free. It's not great for me since my oldest will be 10. Earlier in the week I got an email with a pin for the month of October with a 30% off pin. Will be calling to see if they will extend to November or if it's a firm October only pin. It excludes the weekend for Columbus Day, which was on our original plan, but we can be flexible I think.

So it looks like discounts on our the way.

Just got the same e-mail!

Dear Cardmembers,

Take advantage of this advance booking offer today to purchase a 4-night/4-day Magic Your Way Vacation Package that includes room and Theme Park tickets, and children age 3-9 can stay and get a 4-day Theme Park admission ticket, FREE. So hurry and book today! Your offer is available for stays most nights February 17–April 16, April 28–June 14, and August 14–October 1, 2011.

I am going to look into it!

That's great. Too bad you can't use it. But it's also a good sign of things to come. good luck on extending the other PIN! Pixie dust to you!princess:

I got a pin code a couple of months ago.. It only saved us like $300.. I would LOVE a kids are free.. I think that would save me way MORE money...

And for non-card members who want this deal ...

"Hurry and book today before this offer becomes available to the general public!"

Wonder when that will be ...

:scared1::scared1::scared1: But DH does not want to get the Visa, so I guess I am stuck waiting for the general public deal. I just told him yesterday that without this deal that we would not be able to go next year. We need a "fingers-crossed" smiley face!!

If you have three kids does this cover all three, or just one kid per paying adult?

Last year people were putting one adult in the room and filling the rest of the spots with kids. So, you could put 1 adult and 3 kids in a standard room or 2 adults and 3 or 4 kids in a suite. Hopefully, it will be the same this year. It does not matter either way with us, since we always travel with my mom and she will be our 3rd adult (that is until our 2 year old needs a ticket.)

With all of the FD availability at the end of the promotion, you may not have any trouble getting the room you want when this deal becomes public, especially if you book on the first day.

OMG I would LOVE this October pin, that's the month I want to go! Is it 30% off deluxe resorts? Did you do anything special to trigger this pin? I used to have good luck with pins, but I haven't gotten one in months. :( And the kids free deal is great for people with kids, but unfortunately, I'm not one of them! I need the October pin! :rolleyes1

By my calculations, the 'free kids' deals are often not the best deals going. It depends which resort - and what kind of other offers Disney is offering. Certainly, any discount is better than no discount. A common 'other' off is about 30% off regular rates. All 'regular' rates are a bit inflated by my calculations, so Disney pretty much PLANS to offer discounts. (Kind of like Macy's....)

Hotel rooms for kids are already 'free.' (once you are already paying for the resort room adult.) Food for kids 3-9 are only about $12-13 per day with dining plan. If you have a junior (ages 10 - 17), then dining for them is about $46 - 48 per day - Free dining for junios adds up quickly, but not as quickly for kids under 9. Week-long base tickets for kids run about $240 (slightly less if you buy from Undercover Tourist, AAA, or another reliable vendor). Add $55 for hopping. If you have two kids under nine, and are staying for a week, free park tickets adds up to about $480. (base tickes with no hopping or water parks)

However, if you are staying deluxe, where rack rates can be around $500 plus 12.5% tax per night - then 30% off room rates offer adds up to a bigger discount very quickly - $168 per day. For a week, $168 x 7 = $1175. In some seasons and for some rooms rates can be as low as the $375+tax range. (so a $375 room would actually be more like $421. The savings (30% off) would be $126 per night, or $882 per week)

Moderate rates run about $190+tax, or about $214 per night. A 30% off deal would save about $64 per day, or $450 per week. In which case the free kids deal could be a slightly better deal, if you've got two kids in the 3-9 age range and were planning on gettgin the DDP or buying tickets via WDW - but the various discount offers are usually somewhat of a tossup.

Values run between $100- 150 per night, or $112 - $170 A 30% off deal would give you $34 - $50 off per night, or up to $350 per week. so in that case, fixed offers like free kids or free dining usually work out to be the biggest discount.

It makes me wish we had more kids! We only have one, but any savings would help! It would save us about 400 bucks!

I had recently registered us for interest in vacation including asking for the DVD. That seems to have gotten us the October pin. As for the Visa offer, I don't know. I have started using it more lately so I have some points to use when we go in 2011. But maybe everyone with a Disney Visa got this offer.

For us the % off is a better deal. Our 10 year old will cost us, plus 2 of us adults. I still can't believe my 10 year old isn't a child at DW, that's ridiculous. But I won't lie either doesn't set a very good example for her at age 10, she gets it.

Do you have to pay the whole amount with the Visa card or just the deposit? Is it possible to add days on too if you want?

You just have to pay the initial deposit with the card. The balance can be paid any other way. You should be able to add days and maybe even stay less than 4 nights. Usually the "recommended" number of nights is a little more than what is actually required. Last year you had to book a minimum of 2 or 3 nights.

I didn't get the email and I am a card holder. Oh well, it wouldn't do me any good anyway because my children are older plus we are already booked for May with free dining which saved me a bundle. :thumbsup2

Last year's stay and play for free didn't cover their dining either. Only the base tickets.

One of the offers covered QSDP for the kids (it was kids stay, play and eat free.) Either the Visa or the GP, but I am pretty sure it was the Visa.
