I am so paranoid, never used a pin before, we did get the 4/3 deal last year, so I don't know how long you have to book with one.

We had to spend $1000 on car repairs and we are getting a new car, so I am waiting for the smoke to clear I guess you could say. I have our vacation fund with enough to pay our vacation in full right now but I'd rather wait and make sure that money isn't needed for anything.

I also have to go over what dates would be good in Aug, which week is the best time to go in Aug?

Sorry about your car. We just dropped $1200 into ours this week, too. I told DH that would have gone a long way towards vacation, lol. I think that you will be fine to wait until Feb to book. The number of rooms are limited, but so are the number of pins that were sent out.

You can book the reservation with only a $200 deposit, that way you know you will get your PIN available for the resort & dates you want. Final payment isn't due until 45 days prior to travel, and if you need to move the trip, you can change it up until then with no penalty (unless you get the insurance, and then you lose the cost of the trip insurance).

Closer to the end of Aug might be better, as more schools will be back in session (TX schools start mid-aug usually) so you might have a little lighter crowds.

Bummer on the car. Unexpected stuff always is a pain. We had to replace our water heater yesterday. $500 out of our emergency fund!

I would also do the $200 deposit, just to secure it, if you can. I also received that pin and the book by date on mine is very early February. Just wanted to make sure you knew if yours is the same; just so you don't miss out if you don't have to.

Good point. Not having seen the PIN I didn't even think about the "book by" date.

We usually do get trip insurance, I can't remember, but is that the same as hurricane insurance or is that separate? If it is, how much does it cost and can you add that on later?

Trip insurance is the same as the hurricane insurance. You can add it up to the final payment date (45 days prior to travel). It is $133 for 2 adults (or half that for one, to lazy to do the math ), but everyone has to have it on the ressie (kids are free... clear as mud?)

If it was me and I had the $$ set aside, I would book ASAP and send in the $200 deposit. If it turns out you need the money for something else before the 45 day mark, you can always cancel and get your deposit back.

I agree, put the deposit down now to be sure. Don't get insurance though Disney. It's not that good. You can find it chaper and better though other sites. You can book it then when you feel things are set in stone if you want it. We used travel gurad I think last year. It was cheaper than Disney's and we got a higher priced plan because it covered more and we were worried about something, tho now I can't remember what. LOL! I think we got the cancel for any reason plan, which was a tad higher.
