we just found out that our last car payment is July 22nd! YAY!! thats an extra $260 a month in our pocket! things are looking up for us!! :goodvibes

now what will be even better news is if we get approved for the Disney visa!

That is great news! Congratulations! :cool1:

I just got my letter yesterday from Visa after applying last week. It wasn't good news. :sad2: Owell, I didn't really NEED another credit card, just thought it would be neat.

Good luck to you!:yay:

That's great!

Would you consider taking a portion of the money you would have spent on that car payment and putting it away towards the next car that you will eventually need? You will have saved (hopefully) enough so that you would not need to finance that next car.:wizard:

my last payment is in August 2010. Couldnt have came at a better time. Will pay down credit card debt.

yeah we are planning on putting away $100-150 for our emergnancy fund. we need to start building that up again!

Just sent off our last payment a few days ago...:banana::banana::banana:
woohoo no more payments (on the van at least).:banana::banana::banana:

Going to put away the extra to do a few repairs to it to keep it going for a while then have at least a nice down payment for the next new car a little ways down the road (assuming we don't dip into that for a planned trip to WDW in December) :rolleyes1

We're about to have our final payment as well. If we can swing the whole thing in July, then it will be 2 years and 1 month earlier than Chase expected us to pay it off. If we have a little bit left for August, then it's "just" 2 years early.

It's funny...the more we actually own of the car, the better it's been running! Which makes me feel really guilty, because the plan has been to pay it off then sell it (it's officially a "luxury" car, and holds value) then buy another used car in a style that we actually want* for that same price. But it's running so nicely, I feel guilty just thinking about it. :)

*dire straits when we bought it, no choice of financing companies, they wouldn't finance the Subaru wagon we wanted, even though it cost less, so we were forced into this car.

Congrat's to you OP!

I still have 1 year left but am already counting down! It's our highest bill (next to the mort) and is doubly bad cause it's the last bill left from DHs single days when he made some poor money decisions! (like this car!)

Congratulations!

We just paid ours off 2 months ago.

It's awesome! We allowed ourselves 2 months of not saving it and went away for Memorial Day wkend with the money, now it's time to start saving for a new car :goodvibes

Congratulations!!! It's so great to not have car payments!

I'm confused though....How did you 'find out'? Did you get a bonus or something? Or had you just been paying extra and didn't know how much it had come down?

Congratulations!

By the end of this year we'll have an extra $286/month.

My DH's office is moving (closer to where we live!) in September and they'll have their own parking lot so no more $75/month for parking! Then we make the final payment on DD's braces in November so that's another $211/month we won't have to pay anymore!

yep, excatly! we pay it over the phone with our debit card so we werent sure how much we had left to pay. we always pay a little more ahead of time just in case we are short one time, we will be covered. and we also put almost $2k in feb. on it when we got our taxes. then after that we just kept making small payments and when i called today to find out how much we have they said we have another 5 months of payments. but we figured out a way to get it paid off by july 22nd. we are paying $520 this month (instead of the $260) cause hubby got a nice myshare bonus and lots of overtime and holiday pay then we can pay the rest off by july 22nd.

Us too! Except ours was a bigger payout. Add that in with preschool payments gone (entering kindergarten) we'll save about $650 a month!! mailing our last one tomorrow!

Now let's see how long I can stall dh from buying another car- he wanted to go out looking this past week. I was "busy".

Great!

I would have gone crazy doing it that way, though. I've got printouts of all car bills where I write down what I pay next, I've got it entered into whatsthecost.com, I've got a chart with each square representing $5 that I fill out in various colors each time I make a payment...I have it down in so many places I might miss a place marking down our last payment, LOL...

But either way, good job!
