We were relocated to another hotel. I was looking forward to getting maybe the Beach Club for my little ones who would love the pool. However, the only offer I could lock into was the Poly.

Does anyone know how kid friendly the pool is? Any kiddie pool?

I know I got a great rate, but just feel like the pool was our biggest attraction for POFQ. I hope the Poly works out for us.

Thanks for any help!

I don't think you will be sorry. I have heard that the Volcano Pool at the Poly is wonderful.

I'm sure someone can link you to Tikiman's website. Take a look around.

I'm sure you will love the room size at the Poly, the beach, possibly seeing part of MK or the castle.

You'll enjoy it.

We were there a few years ago - we thought the pool was OK, but not anywhere near as good as POFQ. That said, my kids loved the Poly! Rent watercraft, walk on the beach, go to the character breakfast, Hawaiian activities in the lobby area, ride the monorail, see the nighttime water pagaent, view of MK, etc. It was a great place! Enjoy!

Lucky Lucky You!! The Poly is a GREAT place!

I really think your kids will love the Poly and the pool. There is a zero entry at the Volcano Pool which is great for small kids! There is an awesome pool slide and the zero entry opens up to the beach area, so they can enjoy some sand fun too! Oh there is also a quiet pool at the Poly to enjoy some down time.

Here is a link to pictures of the Poly Pool.

Have a wonderful time!!

We love the Poly pool! My then 3 y/o could just walk in as far as she felt safe and splash and play to her heart's content. It is just a slight gradual grade into the water like a beach. There is also a neat splash area right next to the pool that the little ones love to play in. It is like a padded area where water spurts up in different intervals and the kids run through it or try to catch the water in their buckets. That pool is all my little one talks about and was her favorite part of our entire trip to WDW last time. When I told her we were going again the first thing she asked if we were staying at the Volcano pool. The beach is right there too so she was able to walk back and forth playing with her bucket and I didn't have to move from my lounge chair. We go back in 10 days and can't wait!

Terry.. we have never been there going in May.. just wondering if you request a certain building... is any your favorite...,thanks..amy

We stayed in Fiji and loved it! We were close to the Grand Ceremonial House and the Volcano Pool and we had a great view of the marina. My daughter loved the volcano pool. She must have gone down the slide 50 times one day! You are so lucky that you were relocated to the Poly. Having the monorail is sooo convenient and the boat ride to the MK is great too! One warning however..... You may never want to stay anywhere else after you have stayed at the Poly! Have a great trip!!! :)

Thanks for all the great feedback. I am sure the pool area will work out just fine. We can always venture over to the BC to swim.

I know this may sound silly, but what exactly is a Zero Entry pool?

Thanks for the links also!

Sorry, but you can NOT "venture over to the BC to swim." Pool hopping isn't allowed, espeically at SAB, and the rule is strictly enforced with a wristband system there. Only registered guests of the BC/YC/BCV are allowed to swim there, you have to have a room key from that hotel for everyone in your party. Just as an FYI, ALL pools at WDW resorts are for the exclusive use of registered guests of that resort only, with some very limited exceptions. So no one will be able to swim at the Poly pool either unless they are a registered guest of the Polynesian.

Zero entry means you can walk right in, it slopes down from the pool deck eventually ending up in the deeper water.

You'll love the Polynesian, it' BLOWS AWAY PO!!

Yeah I am not sure when jlaspoq was last at the Polynesian but the new pool is the best. I like the slide at the Polynesian much better than even the slide at SAB.

Aloha

I stayed in Rarotonga and that is what I'm requesting this time too. I guess it depends what you want to be clsoe to. We like being right next to the GCH for easy access to the monorail. It was great being so close. We also had a monorail view which was neat. Nothing like waking up and seeing the monorail cruise by!

You will love seeing the MK fireworks from the pool area/beach! It is so relaxing knowing when they're over you can just trapse back to your room rather than fight the MK crowds leaving the parks!

Also another vote for Roratonga!

Wow! A few people have mentioned to me as part of being a Disney On-Site guest, you are allowed to visit and use the other hotel facilities/pools. I am glad you informed me of this ahead of time. Maybe this applies to the Deluxe Resorts.

The only thing I heard on the negative side of Poly, was when you are leaving the parks, you wait forever for the Monorail back.

Any tricks or tips for making this less painless. How long do you actually wait. Also, with kids, do you recommend any of the shows in the hotel.

Hi. I have to agree with the pool post. On our last visit to the Cont., my husband was "carded". There was a CM walking around and asking for your room pass.

As far as the monorail ride, I did "time" our trip from the Cont. to MK (which is a full loop). It took 20 minutes. For example, if the resort monorail is leaving MK, this is how it travels: first stop, Cont., then TTC, Poly, GF and back to MK.

There is also a boat that goes from Poly and GF to MK. You can also take that to and from the hotel. When we stayed at GF, we would take the boat back from MK to our hotel if the boat was docked or approaching the dock at MK. I can't remember which order the boat travels to the two hotels, maybe someone else knows.

If you spend a lot of time at MK, a monorail resort is a luxury that is hard to be without. We have been spoiled with the monorail (and walking to MK from Cont. ) that we don't want to stay anywhere else.

We, too, are looking forward to our first visit to the Poly in June.

This is a great resort for kids. We were at the Poly this past February with our grandchildren. I was surprised at how kid-friendly this resort was. The Volcano pool is zero entry on the beach side. Which makes it perfect for little ones.

I gave my grandchildren a choice of where they would like to stay next year. AK, WL or the Poly, they want to return to the Poly. Their ages are 8 and 12.

Those "few people" were either giving you ten year old information or just plain misinformed. Here are the cases where you can "pool hop":

1. You are a DVC Member staying on DVC points at a DVC property. You may hop to all pools except SAB and the AKL. You are asked to call ahead to be sure they aren't too crowded.

2. You are a guest of any of the three All Star Resorts, you may swim at any AS Resort pool.

3. You are a guest of the PO resorts (when both are open). You may swim at any POR pool.

4. You are staying at a resort where the main pool is closed for refurbishment, arrangements will be made for you to swim at a specific other resort's main pool.

Of course you may visit the other resorts to look around, dine, or shop, but you can't swim there.

As far as the momorail--I'm not a huge fan of them. They are slow and really don't move that many people at a time. Take the boat launch instead from teh MK--it's a very enjoyable quick trip across the lake--it stops at the GF first, then the Polynesian, but it's still much faster than taking the monorail.
