I have two medium priced lenses. Canon's 28-135 IS and 70-300 IS. And of course the 50mm f1.8

Maybe I should get a little longer lens for the racing shots....? Hmmmmm?

Or maybe something from the Luxury line of lenses. Hmmmmmm?? But they can get to be the cost of a few days at the world! I'm not realy suffering with my two, I think we should put a little somethin' down towards a week at a moderate. I love the white sands and palm trees. We did not get rained on this last trip so I am dying to go again!

We're using ours for a trip to the World in Nov. I think next year I'm going to try to get a new lens or two (though I may be pushing it a bit trying to get 2). Then I'm thinkin the year after I'll try and get me a new smoker.

WOW!!! A tax RETURN? I have to RETURN my 30D and lenses just to pay my taxes.

I'm right there with ya!!

Mikeeee - I'd hate to pass on a few days at WDW but you'd be giving up a few days at WDW for a lens that you could use 365 days a year, every year (easy for me to say, right?!!).:)

If it were not for the child tax credit we would not get anything back. I love our litle deductions! Though this years return has gone mostly to fix my car, I have enough tucked away from it for the deposit on our '08 trip. I did get myself one new lens, though not an L series. I got the 50mm f/1.8. I say go for the World. But then this is the first lens I have bought since I got my camera in 2005!!!!!

Yes but that 50mm does a good job. With the results it will give for family portraits you tell your SO it cost 3 or 4 hundred and buy something else like a flash!

DW does our taxes and she was quite conservative this year. Only used actual reciepts we saved, not estimated, like last year. And we are DINKs (double income-no kids). All I can say is "it is good to own a home".

My vote is for the trip. ;) Then again, I'll always vote for the trip. :teeth:

We were pleasantly surprised this year. We'll be paying off our summer trip and doing some home renovations.

FYI - the cost of replacement windows are deductible for 2007. Convenient for us since we're doing windows.

Tell me about it. We are the end unit of a townhome and have 13 windows, four that are 5'x6'. All labor and removal of existing windows plus lifetime warranty was 13K!!!! And the double panes plus IR heat blocking has realy helped with utility bills.

Yes, owning a house helps too! I remember the first year we bought our house.. We had been married five years and it was the first time we got a refund. Then we had DD on the next year. At that point we joked "we gotta have 6 more of these!" Even when I was in school we still had to pay more taxes.

They do seem to get you if you are married and have no kids.

The only longer lenses that arent expensive as a small car are the 100-400L and the Sigma "bigma" 50-500mm.

I personally would go for a trip instead.

Im a firm beleiver of F8 and be there... and also that You can get the shot with almost any lens. (My most pricey lens isnt nearly as expensive as the 2 above, and I do alot of professional portrait shoots)

I guess I have to consider that DW will be able to enjoy the trip along with me... much more than standing around bored while I use the lense.

you don't have to but it would be nice to:lmao:
if you enjoy the lenses you have go for the trip then use the lenses you have( i keep thinking of that everytime i add new equipment..ie a 7 day pass vs a new lens..so far the equipment has won:rolleyes1

I'd vote for the trip, as you have a good choice of lenses now. Maybe next time.

Another vote for the trip - I'm spending my return on Vegas and fully intend to win enough there to buy a new lens AND go to WDW! :rotfl:

Don't even mention tax return! I usually get all of my state and federal taxes back because I am a full time student (and only 20), but this year, they said I made too much money, and so now I have to pay them more taxes.

Just isn't fair....

Work full time X Full time College = Pay taxes

Work 20 hrs X COllege = Get Money

You would think they would give a break to the hard workers out there.

LOL- I was soooo happy not to be paying this year- I'm getting about $50 back! Maybe I will get that new camera strap I have been lusting after for years. :rolleyes1 :rotfl:

Kid and a house here! Otherwise Uncle Sam would be getting a check from us :/

hey with a big return like that you might even be able to get a new lens cap, well at least a 3rd party one, along with the strap;) we always pay pay pay:sad2:
