that was a waste of time. I was on hold forever. I told her I had tickets in December and wanted to know if the pilots went on strike and the airline ceased to operate what happened, did I get a refund or lose my $$$. I figured she would have been asked this all day and would have had something scripted to tell me. Instead she puts me on hold for 15 minutes for a supervisor. Then she comes back and says:

If the pilots go on strike and the airline ceases to operate you can then call for an update. Since they have not gone on strike yet and the airline has not ceased to operate there is no such update at this time.

Very helpful. I am feeling sick right now. I know my flight is not till December, I feel for those of you in the coming weeks, but the Christmas season flights are outrageously priced right now. I had non stop flights at good times for $177 a piece. There are 5 of us. If we lose this $$$ and have to buy more expensive tickets on top of it, well that is not going to be good. :guilty:

When does Jet Blue start selling for December, anyone know?

Calm down and try not to worry. The pilots are not definetly going on strike, they only voted to authorize a strike. Authorizing and actually setting a strike are two very different things.

I hope the pilots are happy. They have created such a tizzy, now people will be reluctant to book Delta flights, so they are causing more harm to airline. Makes sense.

Just an FYI. If they change the flight times by more than 90 minutes, you can get a refund of your tickets. We had tickets for July on non-stop flights. They changed both legs so that we would have layovers and would not arrive at WDW until 4 hours later. I called and got a refund of my puchase price (lost $100 due to a previous change I had made but that was my fault, sort of). I had to pay more for tickets on another airline ($30 more per ticket) but as least I don't have the headache of waiting to see what Delta will do.

I think the fault is clearly Delta Mgts for pricing the airline tickets below cost.
So what are they trying to do? Make it up on the volume? (Joke)

I too would snap up a bargain such as Dec. airfare, nonstop, at good times, for less than $200pp.

Wonder why the other airlines weren't selling their tickets so low.
Maybe because they wanted to make money?

Delta Mgt.promised their employees one thing, are trying to impose another.

If Delta contacted its customers and said "By the way, we need to double the ticket charge you thought you had paid" how much kicking and screaming would the public be doing?

I think we would all be deaf!

MomofCKJ- Sorry for the worry you're going through.
It should hopefully be settled soon so that you'll know where it stands for December trip.

Delta underpricing tickets on certain routes is not unlike what many other airlines do, no matter how much the pilots and the pilot sympathizers want to spin it.

LLCs have caused the public to EXPECT cheap airfares and they won't book unless they find a decent rate. Legacy carriers often underprice known leisure routes and place a premium on tickets on known business routes and flights from/to small and non-hub airports. In leisure markets they go for load factors, in other markets they go for yield.

If the pilots go on strike and your flight is cancelled, Delta is required to give you a refund as per their contract of carriage. If not, you can take it up with your credit card company and get your money back.

The problem of getting your money back is no problem; the problem of rescheduling your flights is.

Now, if Delta were to go Chapter 7 as a result of a pilot's strike, that's a whole different ballgame.

Miss Jasmine, Did the pilots voted to authorize strike already? I thought deadline is on April 15???

I suggest visiting www.flyertalk.com go to miles and points, then airline forums, finally to Delta. You will get great information about everything that is happening with Delta.
