On top of all the other things that have broken here in the past week, our dear kitchenaid washer died on Sunday after 13 years of wonderful service.
I was determined to find an energy conserving washer and was wanting the front loader, Duet. Our laundry room is only 5 feet wide and the door could pose a problem as I am not "narrow". We decided on the Fisher Paykel top loader. It has lots of interesting features and actually spins the clothes at 1000 rpms. This is faster than the Duet model we were considering and it cost 300 dollars less. So far so good.
When this baby winds up to spin it sounds like the jet engines warming up on the runway but not nearly so loud. I gotta go throw the first load in the dryer. It is supposed to get the clothes 30% dryer and so takes less energy to dry too. I'll let ya know if I like it.
