Guess I'll be checking the mailbox today as we have not received anything yet. :(

Is it just me, or is this a rather uncreative example of a plain-vanilla style referral initiative?

I'm really going to start risking my credibility with people by pushing (and no matter how diplomatically it's done, handing cards to my peers "inviting" them to call a time share firm IS pushing) DVC?

So I can hopefully get a copy of a print?

Again, maybe it's just me, but I really don't feel this is something to fall out of bed over.

I certainly wouldn't walk around the office passing them out to co-workers. But I probably will stick the forms in a file folder at home and know where I could pull one out if someone ever asked. All things considered, it's probably easier than trying to dig up a name and phone number. Plus it's a nice reminder to people to mention our name for the referral incentive.

It seems a little "Amway."

If I were going to refer someone, I would just call and tell them "you gotta look into this." I told one friend and he's gonna check into it when he visits with his family this summer. I've got one sister who I'm gonna talk to about it when I see her next month.

I would never suggest someone borrow money for a timeshare. That would be their own decision, but I wouldn't lead them to it. In other words, I'm NOT saying it's wrong!! But that it would be the kind of decision for someone to make WITHOUT my input. IMHO.

We've already referred someone this year who failed to mention us on their first contact with sales. Now, if they go through with the purchase, we don't get the goodies. If I had been able to hand them a card with my name printed on it, that might not have happened.

Fine, but if I recall, the mailing stated this "credit for sales referrals" program only runs until the end of 2004 (I apologize if I'm incorrect, but again, I thought that was stated in the package) .

If that's the case, this isn't designed to be a casual "if someone ever asks" type of initiative. Rather, it's a "push" program designed to get relatively quick ROI (Wow, I get a $1,000 credit for five successful referrals - but only if those deals close by the end of 2004. I'd better start hunting down hard prospects right now.....)

I don't have the package in front of me so I can't confirm whether it says that or not. But DVC has been offering incentives for quite some time. I DO recall that the flyer listed several items you could get as an incentive. For the first purchase it was $200 in Disney Dollars, $200 toward an add-on, $200 toward your annual fees or the framed pin set. Each of the $200 incentives have been available for some time.

Perhaps it's just the pin set that is a limited time offer.

BTW, no need to apologize. We're all friends here. ;)

I received this, too. I don't think I would feel too comfortable giving them out to anyone except relatives or very close friends, in which case reference to my name wouldn't be needed anyway. I could just ask that they use my name, and they would. If I wouldn't feel comfortable asking a person directly to use my name, I probably wouldn't feel comfortable using the cards.

I suppose if DVC came up in conversation, I might use one but I wouldn't feel comfortable handing them out to acquaintances.

We got one too! I'm bringing a couple with me to Disney World! In case people ask me about DVC. I'll have my hat on and my shirt for free advertising! Might as well try and make a couple of sales! :teeth:

as far as the dvc mailing, if someones askes me, ill give them a card, or if family is interested(they would rather have us take them home with us), then ill offer a card, but otherwise the cards will sit next my computer.:teeth:
