Aloha,

This was the best family vacation we've ever had! The Poly was better than we expected and our view and concierge was worth the extra $$ spent!

Hope to post a trip report soon when my laundry is done! :p

Any questions?

WOW!! SOUNDS LIKE A GREAT TRIP!! What can you tell us about the Poly concierge????

Our experience with the Poly Concierge was above and beyond everything we expected. They were fabulous with pre-planning help encluding PS's. I asked them to do some shopping for my family so there would be surprises for them when we arrived, and it was all there when we walked into our room, PLUS we each had autographed pictures of our favorite characters and balloon bouquets throughout the room (things they did on their own). I had mailed out some gifts for my dd which they arranged to be placed in our room each day, she also recieved autographed pictures of all princess each day and sometimes more balloons or treats, (this was also not a request I made).

The food was out of this world! Breakfast was plentiful with a variaty of cold cereals, hot oatmeal and brown sugar, fresh fruits (which were out all day long), bagels, english mufffins, sweet rolls and mini muffins. Milk, skim and whole, chocoate if you asked, orange juice, coffee, tea pop and water.

Then during mid day they had juices, ice tea, pop, water and wonderful cookies and of course fresh fruit.

5pm brought the fantastic evening "meal", 3 different wines, huge cheese, veggie and fruit trays, crackers, ranch dip, carmel dip and then a main dish (always wonderful), some examples, chicken ceser salad, hot nachos with all the fixings, sushi, chicken lo mein and many more! For the kids, PB & J's, another sandwhich offering, brownies that tasted like fudge, and fresh strawberries. We cancelled 2 of our dinner PS's, because the food was so plentiful and good that we chose to eat our evening meal in concierge.

Then at night, cordials and desserts.

Our mousekeepers were great. Hawaii was clean always and everyone was very friendly and helpful.

We had a first floor room facing the lagoon with a perfect view of the castle, truly magical! We loved that we could walk right out of our door to a swing and hammock on the beach. We spent every night there.

We will never stay anywhere else again, and we are already planning our next trip before April 30, 2004 when our PAP's expire!

Welcome back!!! I remember your various posts before your trip. All the hard work paid off and I am glad to hear that you had your best trip!!!

Wow, this is where I would like to stay next year once Hawaii building is refurbished.

Was there a special occasion that the staff kept giving you stuff, ie balloons, autographs etc? What are the stuff you can ask them to buy ahead of time? My soon to be 5 year old girl is a huge Buzzlightyear fan, I wonder what I could do in this case. Thanks:D

What a great review... I have never done the Poly Concierge but they consistently get high marks from all that stay there... I have done BC/YC concierge.....and I do like it there....I actually preferred BC over YC, the room seemed larger in BC and the staff friendlier... JMO

Welcome Back!!!!!

I often wondered during the past few days how your vacation was going. I'm so glad you had an awesome time. I knew once you stayed Poly (especially LV/conceirge) you would never want to stay anywhere else. I'm so happy for you.

Isn't Poly wonderful!!! I cannot wait until we arrive. In fact, one week from right now our plane will be taking off. I cannot believe how the conceirge staff went out of their way to have the "goodies" in your room. That's purely magical!

Again, welcome back and I can't wait to read your trip reports.

:bounce: :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :bounce:

Could you tell me what your room number was??

Thanks

Our stay in Poly LV concierge was also our favorite of all our WDW trips. There is nothing that can compare to sitting out on the balcony, (with snacks from the lounge, of course!) just taking in the view. Heaven!!

Luckytso,

Do you know when the Hawaii building is going to be refurbished? We plan on going to WDW in October of this year for the EF&WF and have been considering the Poly -conceirge, lagoon view- but not if the place is under construction.

It will be refurbished from June-October 17. Of course there is always the possibility that rehab won't be done exactly on time. Tahiti will house concierge during this time and let me tell you the views from this longhouse are just as awesome as Hawaii. I walked over and stood around and by all the patio's on the lagoon view rooms while I was there and they really are wonderful. There will still be the fantastic concierge staff and all the wonderful food. I was told they will try and keep everything as their guests expect during rehab. I believe this...the concierge staff at the Poly is the greatest!

Hawaii is scheduled for refurb from early June through mid-October. However, concierge will be moved for that time to the Tahiti longhouse. There will still be a lounge, food, and all the amenities (except fireworks view from the lounge). Tahiti is a bit farther from the GCH, but it is newer, a bit larger, closer to the TTC and a bit more private. My wife and I will be there October 1-8 and we're not worried one bit about the move.:sunny:

Thanks for the info! We plan on being there from the 21st-31st of Oct. We had our honeymoon at the Poly "some" years ago... (time sure flies) and it would be nice to come back. The whole rennovation thing has kinda spooked me but it sounds like it should have pretty much zero effect on the quality of a guest's experience.

I believe the latest plan for the rehab does include a view of the lagoon & castle. It's my understanding, through Tikiman, that the lounge would be set up inside of two LV facing rooms. The TV and other seating will be in a common area overlooking the GV area on the same floor. While it won't be that spectacular floor to ceiling window view, it's certainly better than no view, if you are looking for an inside view anyway.

Our kids are now at the age and stage that we prefer to be in the park or outside on the beach. The lounge in Hawaii is usually so crowded at firework time that it's just not as pleasurable as the beach or a LV room view.

I'm glad you enjoyed your trip Wisconsinmousermom--you were warned that once you did it, you wouldn't want to go back--now, no whining about it down the road (when you've spent the equivalent of a college education on concierge) :D ! We're so looking forward to our return in June. My husband and I are even considering a F&W visit w/o kids just to check out the rehab of Hawaii! Now, if the AP rates for October & November would come out, it might seal the deal. . . :D

You're right; I misunderstood the Tikiman. The food room and tables will indeed have Lagoon View.

Glad to hear that you had such a wonderful vacation. Just thinking about the Polynesian and their concierge service makes me sigh...it is very special isn't it!

My DW read your comments about sushi being offered in the Poly's Conceirge lounge and went wild. We had been trying to decide whether to stay at the CR, BC or the poly and we had concerns about the state of things at the CR and noise levels at the BC. (We stayed at the YC Conceirge last year and found the room extreemly noisy and fairly small.) The FTV rate makes it near impossible to do split stays so we had to choose... where do we go this October?

Thanks for your very helpful posts! I booked a 10 day stay at the poly conceirge, lagoon view a few moments ago with CRO. We did a 3 -7 split as Mary suggested, and saved 311.44 off the price of doing all 10 nights as a FTV rate. The AAA discount doesn't even cover the room taxes.... <whimper> Maybe new codes will be out there soon and I can get a better rate? $527/night (no park tickets) is a bit steep, but does include all the taxes.

Be advised, Chef Dick told me that he does sushi only on Monday evenings, we luckly happened to be there! Didn't want you to be disappointed. Also wanted to mention that we had a ground floor and there were a few mornings were we had little ones running above us. If this type of thing bothers you a 3rd floor request probably would be best for you. I believe you have this in any resort you stay, especially at Disney, after all Disney is for the kid in all of us!!

Mmmmm... sushi... we'll make a point of being around monday night. We've got 10 nights there... so that shouldn't be an issue.

Good point about the rooms. DW and I both love kids and aren't bothered at all by them. Its part of the charm of Disney. Evil demon possed brats are another story but those are very few and far between. ;)

I have heart disease which can be a nuisance at times... especially when I get a good breath of cigarette smoke - instant angina. Do you know if the whole building... (Tahiti right?) is non-smoking? I hope there isn't a balcony smoking section at the CL. It also tends to make me a light sleeper. Requesting that 3rd floor room may be the ticket.

Thanks for the tips!

This is what Tikiman Steve has posted on his web site concerning smoking in Tahiti right now, I would make sure and continue to check his site for any updates.

"NEW!!! It looks like the smoking rooms in Tahiti are back to non smoking now that Niue is smoking. This may change back to the rooms 1002-1014 (garden view) and 1015-1028 (lagoon view) being smoking or maybe something different when Tahiti becomes concierge and then go back after concierge moves back to Hawaii. I will post it when I find out."

P.S. Please excuse all my typo's, just took a look at some of my previous posts...geesh my typing fingers must still be on vacation!
