Hello, we just returned home yesterday :mad: September 23rd. We arrived the evening of Wed. September 17th and stayed at Coronado Springs. I have two kids ages 10 and 7 and we traveled with another family of four whose kids are 12 and 10 and it was their first trip. Just some random thoughts about our experiences;

First, CSR was excellent. We were in building 9B which is very, very close to Bus stop #1 and the Main Lobby/Restaurant area, this made for very short walks. The Mousekeepers in this building were FANTASTIC !! It got to the point where the kids were just as excited to return to the rooms every night to see what creations the Mousekeepers came up with as they were to go to the parks. One negative, I called 2 weeks prior to arrival to request Ranchos which have been recently upgraded to Queen size beds and was told "no problem", well, that didn't happen and we had the puny double beds. Didn't complain though and did not let it effect the trip. Also, check and see if any conventions are scheduled before booking CSR - there was a convention of about 1500 childless twentysomethings checking in during our last 2 days, wasn't a huge problem but there was a lot of loud partying going on til 1 or 2 am, didn't cause us much grief but could for families with younger children.

Weather was perfect and crowds were low. Longest wait was 40 mins on Soain' and 20 mins for Test Track, both were in the height of the day though.

OTHER GOOD THINGS DURING THE STAY:

- 2 of the kids won Ice Cream as part of Year of a Million Dreams.
- I was "that guy" in Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor.
- Disney Wife was picked to be Cow Bell player for Band at DHS.
- Daughter picked to ask Crush a ? on Turtle talk.
- Carlos at Kali River Rapids let us stay on raft for a 2nd trip.
- Ishmeal at Maya Grill made us food not on Menu to meet requests.
- 2 of the kids lost Autograph books but were returned by caring CM's :)

A FEW NEGATIVES:

- NOT SEEING 1 OTHER LIME GREEN MICKEY HEAD THE WHOLE TIME !:confused3
- I understand bus service is a win some/lose some kind of thing, but it seemed particularly bad this time. 2 - 50 minute waits.
- New FANTASMIC ending. Maybe the boat at the end is just out of service temporarily, but it was def. missed.
- 3 hours at Ackerhouse for lunch really put a dent in our plans.
- We did 5 straight days of Parks open to close so the family we were with could see as much as possible, I won't do that again !! GET SOME REST !!

MNSSHP

Did this on Friday Sept 19th. It was great and we stayed the whole time, very, very light crowd and all rides were walk-on. BUT, just as the saying goes, "you can't do everything", it's especially true for MNSSHP. Basically prioritize these catagories: 1) Parade 2) Fireworks 3) Dance Parties and Villan Meet 4) Rides 5) Trick-or-Treating. We did the Parade and Fireworks, met the Villans no Dance Parties, few rides and trick-or-treating. If I could do it differently, I'd skip the Fireworks and do more rides as everything was walk-on, you could get a lot of rides in during this time. I would definately make sure you see the Parade and meet the Villans as this is your only chance throughout the year, the fireworks seemed nothing different than any other of the fireworks shows you can see. We only hit 4 trick-or-stations, but they give you HANDFULS at each one, I'd keep it a low priority, nobody wants their kids with that much candy and neighborhood trick-or-treating is right around the corner.

I've done the Dining Plan all 4 trips but am starting to question it's value to our family. I feel like were spending to much time planning around eating and I felt completely glutonous. Now that you have 18% gratuity added right into your bill it's getting costlier. I think with a little research you can feed your family much better and cheaper for a week. One great food deal, in France there is a small Bakery that has ham and cheese croussiants. They are a meal in themselves and are very good, and a deal at only 3.99. We also had some grocieries delivered by wegoshop.com - I would highly reccomend, you pay regular walmart retail plus reasonable delivery rates.

Most everyone on this board is very knowledgeable and I don't believe I have anything new to tell people, but would be happy to answer and ?'s, esp. about MNSSHP. One last thing, I bought a 5.00 over the door shoe organizer for toileties and a collapsable laundry hamper. These 2 small things did wonders for helping to keep our room clean and organized. Now on to Disney 2010 ! :goodvibes

thanks for the report

and I like your idea of the over the door shoe organizer for toiletries...great idea.

It sounds like overall you had a great time! :)

Awesome trip report :thumbsup2-glad to read a report not nagging or complaining. Love the positives! Great tip about the laundry-i always pack a laundry bag-never thought to mention it...Sounds like you had a very busy trip. I would reccommend lots of rest this week. I completely agree about the Dining Plan we are APs and enjoy the DDE card for 20%...good luck planning you 2010 trip!:wizard:

Hi and welcome back! I enjoyed reading your mini TR. :thumbsup2

Did you take advantage of Fast Passes while you were there? I am wondering because you mentioned the longer waits for Soarin' and Test Track. Also, did you have an opportunity to ride Toy Story Mania at DHS - how were those lines?

It must've been fun to be "that guy" at the Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor! It's such a great show, and it keeps us in Tomorrowland since we usually see it more than once.

Neat idea about the collapsable laundry hamper. We usually bring an extra collapsable bag with us, but there's only two of us; I would consider a laundry-only bag if I was traveling with more of my family.

Me and my friend got to Toy Story Mania about 15 minutes after park opening and grabbed FP's while the ladies did some character greets with the kids. While we were getting the FP's, TSM was walk-on. When we returned for FP time, wait was only 20 minutes. I think the longest wait all day for TSM was 1 hour for a short time. Other than that FP's really weren't necessary. The ride is awesome by the way, I HATE to say this, but it I think it blows away Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin. Your arm will hurt though.

It was fun being "that guy", thats all my kids called me the rest of my trip.

Great report! And I agree that I'm so happy to hear about the wonderful things that happened, instead of all the complaining that's been going on lately! We leave in 2 days, so I'm happy to hear about the short wait times! The shorter the lines, the more rides we can go on!! Plus with 2 little ones, the longer lines are harder to keep them occupied.
Not that I'm not already extremely excited, but you made me even more so!!

Thanks for your report. Glad you liked CSR. We've stayed seven times with numbr eight already booked. We had a convention come in the last two nights of our trip. I do know they were at the Laguna Bar late--I believe it is open until 1:00 a.m. It didn't bother us, but I suppose you are right and it could bother some families with small children.

We had really short lines too (we were there September 1 - 9). Longest we waited was 30 minutes for Tower of Terror--but our fault--we got in line right after Fantasmic and we didn't know Rock & Roll was down yet again. We waited 15 minutes for Soarin' and walked on Test Track and everything else in five minutes or less.
We went September 1 to the Fantasmic Show and they still had the boat at the end. They must have changed it shortly after our trip.

Hey, don't laugh at my Yankees. :lovestruc
They were just sad about the stadium closing down. But they tried their best to make it. We were watching them w/ the race again Boston. Yankees won 4, while Boston lost 4 --- it was looking good for a while.
I guess Disney will just have to make DH & I feel about the loss.... ;)

You might be jealous about me now, but in 6 months I'll be jealous of you going!! :lmao:

Since this is more of a Trip Report I am going to move it to that board.

We were at CSR last week (14th -19th) in 9a, and went to the Halloween Party as well.

We were at CSR last week (14th -19th) in 9a, and went to the Halloween Party as well.

Thats cool, very possible we saw each other in passing or waited for the bus together. We didn't find that nice little pool by 9A until our last day, it was enjoyable. I was really happy with the light crowds at Halloween Party on the 19th. Hope you enjoyed yourselves.

Hi. We were at WDW at CSR from September 16th to 23rd. We were at MNSSHP on the 19th, too. If you were at DHS on the 22 and went on the TSM ride between 11 and 12pm we saw you. I saw a man with a lanyard with a LGMH.

We went to Fantasmic that night and the boat was at the ending. We were amazed with the show, despite the light rain.

As for MNSSHP, it was the best money we ever spent. To have the park with only 9000 others...wow. We rode Big Thunder Mountain 3 times in a row without exiting and saw the fireworks from there. At one point the sky was lit up so bright I could have read a watch. All from the top of BTM.

As for CSR, we were in 9B as well, 9553, one of the rooms nearest El Centro and heard nothing the whole time we were there, not a peep. Maybe the partiers were closer to you.

And we got a towel animal. More like a towel china doll. She was quite detailed with hair and smocking and everything.

Glad you had a great trip. We did, too.

OP, sounds like you really enjoyed your trip, that's great! :thumbsup2 To others who have gone recently, sounds like you had good trips, too! Gets me more excited for our upcoming trip to wdw for 9 nites at CBR, we are going in Nov! :cool1:

OP, was wondering about that ham and cheese croissant you had at the french bakery. Sounds yummy, wondering if it was something you got with your ddp or had to pay oop? Cheap enough, just wondering. Interesting to hear you are reconsidering the ddp for your family. Seems it would probably be more of a deal with more in the family, we just have 2. We got the ddp for this trip for the first time because free dining was suddenly offered. Not positive the trade off for the great code rate we had was worth it, but I think so. Probably a little bit better of a deal, because we got a small room discount, like the rooms went from regular season rate to value rate. Its sort of like we are paying 500 for dining myself and DD18 cause that's what the cost was to switch(had no dining before). Thing is with Epcot, we usually want a little bit of something from several places around the world. Like you said, I'm sure we could eat somewhat cheaper than that 500, though that's less than the regular cost of 683 for the ddp for 2A, sooo...

Did it seem the end of Fantasmic was just changed with something else added instead, or show abruptly ended and not closed up very well, like it was unexpected? Maybe something like you said the boat was just out of commission for that week and was being repaired. I suppose they don't just have extras sitting around! Does seem it would be incomplete without it.

Last yr we only saw 3 lmgh's. One girl we met was really nice, there on her own, and met another woman with her family, but one person we saw wasn't too friendly wondered why she had her lmgh on if she didn't want to be bothered. Oh, well. This year there are lots of people going in Nov so maybe we will see some of them!! :goodvibes

Btw, did the other family you travelled with have an awesome time on their first visit to the world? Bet that was fun being with them for that! :goodvibes
