Just got home…...is BLT normally this way?

We had problems at BLT as well. Room was not the cleanest and the balcony had used cigarette butts on it. There was also an odd stain on the pull out couch. When we checked out, called and asked bell services to come get our bags...45 minutes later, still nothing. We missed our breakfast reservations at 1900 Park fare. Ended up bringing them all down myself (took 3 trips as there was no luggage rack) and the front desk claimed it was because there was only one bellman for both the entire Contemporary and BLT. No apology...They simply said most guests who stay at BLT get their own bags as they are DVC members (we are as well, and have not had this issue at any other resort we have stayed at)

Suffice to say, we will not stay there again.

The luggage racks were marked that they were for bell services when we saw one. Whether a DVC member or not, bell services is still available for use and they should account for that.

I hate when CM's make up stories to account for bad service. 1 Bellman? All you have to do is walk over to the CR and you'll see that is not true. Thankfully we have not had that issue either. A call to Bell Service has gotten us one there withing 15 minutes. I'm knocking on wood now that it continues.

I will say it sucks it was going to take so long to fix the safe and the hairdryer thing but I can't say I've ever seen a clothes hamper/basket in a studio.

We just returned from 11 days at WDW (5 in the Poly studio and 6 in the BLT studio). When we checked into BLT, we were missing a laundry basket, hair dryer, and washcloths in the room. I called and got all of the items taken care of minus the hair dryer which I told them we were missing but had brought our own so didn't have to have one. They didn't offer to bring one and I didn't worry about it …. just wanted them to know we didn't have one to start with so we didn't get charged for it going missing. I checked in the bathroom under the sink, the kitchenette cabinetry, and in the closet…..not one in the room. The safe wouldn't lock so I had to call them to reset it. The solution from the front desk was to bring our things down when we left and they had lockers. I was then to retrieve them when we returned and do that all over the next day. When I pushed and said I felt that was a bit ridiculous, they finally said they would send someone up to reset the safe lock but it would be a while and we had to be in the room when they came. We were there 2 days before we realized the refrigerator wasn't turned on. Thankfully we didn't have anything that absolutely needed the refrigeration (a few drinks and fruit) so that wasn't a big deal. The wifi wasn't working in our room either. They said it was trying to connect to an invalid router. That took 3 days for them to finally get that taken care of (they kept telling me to give it more time and call back if it wasn't working) and then we had very spotty service which they said was because the bandwidth isn't large enough for BLT. On T&T day, they failed to leave washcloths again and the tissues were out so I called and they sent me bath towels and toilet paper instead.

We haven't stayed at BLT, we're mostly BWV in 1- or 2-BR and I've learned, from experience, to immediately verify that certain things are working properly as soon as we walk in to the room, like I make sure that the stove burners work (we actually DO cook!), that the fridge/freezer are on and feel cold, I also check the dishwasher (I have found broken glass in the bottom sometimes). I don't expect housekeeping to check that every kitchen item is present, but I DO expect that when I call to report missing items, that they are promptly replaced.
That comment from the CM about bringing valuables down each day? Wow.

We have stayed in 1 beds twice for 2 weeks and really no issues. Last trip, our entry door acted a bit funny, but our DS says the doors now have batteries inside locks to allow the swipe of MBs to work, and we wondered if batteries were acting up. But we were able to get past that and no other issues. Give it time to allow the memories to fade, but give it a try again in the future. We had issues at OKW our 1st time there, swore to never return, but since then, been back several times and fell in love with the place
Yes, there are AA batteries in the door locks, and they do not get replaced until they die, which we found out on our March trip to BCV. We got back to the room one night after Epcot fireworks, and as I touched my MB to the door, it turned orange, then red. We sat outside our room for almost 90 minutes before the manager finally came with a master key (after several calls to the "front" desk DH finally went to the lobby to get some help), apparently there's only one master key for the whole resort.

We have stayed at BLT multiple times. I think the wi-fi availability is dependent on where your villa is located in the building. On our last stay, we were the very last villa on the 16th floor. There was ZERO wi-fi available - nothing would connect - no devices even found any Disney networks available.

When I went to the front desk the next morning, the CM suggested we just come down to the lobby if we needed to use our devices. After telling her that would not work for my party of 7, I politely told her that BLT advertises free wi-fi and we had to have it in our villa. They eventually added an additional router and we had wi-fi, although not a very strong signal.

At BWV last year, we had a corner 1-br that had bad reception also. The IT guy that finally came to help us said that the location of the router was the issue, but there was nothing he could do about it. We realized that standing closer to the rooms on either side of our room helped the signal. Now we bring our own wireless router that helps boost the signal and keeps us connected better.

Wow. That is unreal to me that you have to resort to this to get a service that is supposed to be provided. There must be a way to improve the situation - clearly it needs to be addressed. I hope anyone who encounters serious problems with this during their stay is letting guest relations and DVC know.

First time I have ever had anything like it happen. We have had great service and no issues at GFV, AKL, BWV, and BCV. It really soured us on BLT, especially my wife, who was very glad to be leaving at the end of the day...

Why would housekeeping turn off fridges? DVC works to be 100% booked so they know someone will be there. I've never had a fridge that's off to my recollection so that's odd that it's now something that happens.

I seem to remember that popping up during the period when DVC was going "green". Set thermostats to turn off when the room was not occupied and apparently did not get the memo that turning off fridges and freezers leads to mold. We've never run across it though either.

We just returned from BLT this week and it was by far our best trip there to date. Up till now, it was probably one of our least favorite DVC resorts. We do not own there but decided to stay there for the 4th due to its location and access to TOTW. Our room was clean, well maintained and just perfect in every way. In addition, as the DME bus was pulling in to the resort, we received a text that our room was ready so we went straight to the room. All the CMs we interacted with were friendly and very helpful. FWIW, a great big shout out to Michael the bartender at the pool bar. He was so nice we stayed for one more drink. As if we needed a reason. Our only issue was, like most, the WIFI which was slow at best.

I am guessing that the studio mini fridges might get turned off, since they don't take that long to cool, and maybe they figure not everyone uses them?? We only stay in 1-BR's and while I DO check the fridge when I arrive, I'm pretty sure the fridge is always on, but it's frequently at the lowest possible setting. I usually turn it up a bit if it feels warm. I have had other fridge issues upon check-in which is the main reason for opening the door, like the previous guests' leftovers still in there.

Studio fridges I've always found to be off or at the lowest setting, I always check the settings. We had a wonderful stay in #7709, studio lake view. The studio was clean, well appointed, missing nothing. And no, studios don't have laundry baskets as they do not have washer/dryers. The biggest issue at BLT is the wi-fi and I reported the issues with it when sent the survey regarding our stay.
