Okay, so I just signed up for the disney visa card today and they accepted my application right away. Then it said I could go to the disney site and book my trip using my card and that it had a temporary card limit of $600. I will actually wait until I get the card to book. But, two questions. Will the limit be higher than that when I actually receive my card or will it only be $600? That's not very useful in paying for the trip or in using it to accumulate disney rewards. :confused3

It has 0% interest for purchases for 6 months. Plus, it says I can use it with 0% interest for the first 6 months on paying for my trip. When does the 6 months start, when I book or when I actually go or what? I'm confused on that part, is that two different things or is that 0% for the trip for 6 mth only good for 6 mth if you book and pay right at the beginning of the 6 mth when you first get the card? I 'm so confused! :scared:

Also, I haven't booked my trip yet though I know when I'm going for sure, but will book when I get my card. I don't remember from last year how it had to be paid off. I booked in Sep for Nov and think it had to be paid like in 45 days or something. Does anyone know how it works? I remember having to pay a deposit for the first night when booking, but when is the rest due? Was it 45 days cause it was a discounted package room and tickets? Will I have to pay this trip for the room, if I book now, in 45 days? I'm hoping to get a package disc. again, the ones that usually come out in Aug for that time. If that does indeed come out, I can apply that to my ressie, right?

Okay, thanks for any help! I'm frustrated being confused!:upsidedow

Chase doesn't raise your limit just because you receive your card. The few times I have had a credit increase I requested one. Mine is much higher. I pay it off monthly.

When you book your trip, the 6 months start. I am pretty sure this is right. If you are late even by one day on the regular account you will lose the 0% promotion. I pay my account online. I have had great success with Chase, but there have been many unhappy customers posting on the dis in the past.

Hmmm, well it said temporary so hopefully it will be higher, but otherwise I will call and request an increase. I have other cards I use, one I tend to use most of the time, and it is from chase. The limit is quite high, much higher than I ever will need or should use, and if I went that high, I'd have to be crazy and have a forever in debt wish! But, I wonder if that would make a difference that I have another chase account if requesting a higher credit limit? Oh well, have to wait to see when it comes, they said within two weeks.

Btw, do you know why others were unhappy or complaining about the card? I haven't read a ton of things, but haven't noticed this, though only regular reader a few months. I was all excited to get the card and try to build up reward dollars, but it could take forever with such a small limit, so I'm not quite as happy. :upsidedow

If you have another chase card that is why your limit is lower, you can have them remove some of your credit card limit from your other chase card to put on your disney chase card, my daughter just did this last month.
All you have to do is call disney chase card and requested it.

They told my daughter they can only give so much limit out on first time cards, she told them she had over $2k on her other chase card and they told her they could take some of the credit card limit off that card and put on her disney card., which they did.

Their interest rate was changed for one reason or another. Mine has stayed constant. I am very happy with Chase. We own our own business. We charge some of our material on our cards. We have very large Credit limits on 4 cards with Chase. You are allowed 2 per person. I max out the $750.00 Rewards Dollars per year per card. I pay the cards off every month. My husband will not use the complete line of credit every month, he leaves a partial amount on it to not hurt our credit score. I access our accounts online and make sure the cards are paid before or by the due date. I do not mail a payment in. I do not want a late posting.

I love having the Rewards at Disney. We are DVC members, our stay last week was on points, but our safaris, tours, and food were all paid by the Rewards. It was so nice to not have a bill. I still have about $3000. that we will use for our family trip.

I agree, that with a $600.00 limilt it is going to be hard to accum points. I would give them a call for sure and see about reducing one card for the other. Then I would do everything online if possibe, you do not want to be one day late on a payment. Stay ahead of the game. We have had our cards since the beginning.

We love our Disney Visa!!! As far as the 6 months, 0% goes....the 6 months starts when you make your deposit and every payment after that. For example...if you book a package today and only put down the $200 minimum deposit and pay the balance 45 days before your arrival, you will have 6 months from today at 0% interest today to pay the $200, and then 6 months/0% interest from the date you pay in full to pay that amount off. That goes for any payments you make along the way as well....whatever date you apply a payment (or pay it off), you will have 6 months from that date with 0% interest :goodvibes. There will be a section on your statement that shows your deposit/payments and when the expiration date of the 6 months, 0% interest is.

Hmmm, okay, Thanks very much! Once I get it I will call to see if I can switch some of the credit to the new chase visa card. I wondered if it might matter if I had one already. For some reason I have like over $27,000 on that card. :scared1: I've had the card for like 17 years but never had need to use such a high limit and not sure why they increased it so high, it just slowly went up and a few years ago it got that high. So, I'd much rather have them put a decent amount on the disney visa so I can pay bills to pay off at the end of the month and build up some disney reward dollars!

When I book the trip do I need to pay then with the visa card to get the 0% or can I use it when it actually needs to be paid? Like when I call to book, do I have to pay then with the card?

I am paying online for that one so I'll do that with these disney card, too! Been doing that for a few years now. Actually, when my dad died I missed sending the payment when I should and it was one day late, but the interest skyrocketed and it's been slow, slow and small amounts trying to get it to go down again! I do think it's not right how they will send new offers of cards with very low interest rates but won't reduce your rates.. It seems that if you are a good and long term customer they should take that into account on an otherwise clear record! Oh well, I can why some may not be happy with chase at times.

Soon, maybe I can just start using this card all the time, so that maybe I will be able to build some good reward dollars!

Thanks for answers and suggestions! :goodvibes

I just got a Disney Visa recently and my temporary limit was like $500 or $600 too if I remember correctly. My limit once I received the card was much higher.

Oh really? That's good to know, thanks! I'm still anxiously waiting for it to show up. :goodvibes They said up to two weeks and it's almost 1 week right now. I read where someone had their's show up in three days so I was hoping I would get lucky too! :) Thanks again for the info/tips!

Yay!! My disney visa card came this weekend! But, it did have that credit limit of just $600, so that was disappointing. Then I remembered what someone said about splitting credit limit with my other chase visa account. So, I called and asked. At first I thought she was getting ready to say she couldn't do it, but then as she looked at my account she was glad to do it and we split the limit between the two! :thumbsup2 So, now I have a good limit on my card and will be putting everything on there and paying it off every month. I even got a card for DD17, she's very trustworthy to not abuse this, and then when she shops for me or w.e., instead of using my bank debit/credit card, she will use this. Strict instructions no personal shopping unless I get a check that day from her! ::yes:: They said I could charge anything at any place they take the card so hope to really get some decent rewards by the time of our trip in mid Nov! :woohoo:

I just got my Disney Visa last week. Our limit was a little over $8000. I made my deposit with it and I've also put groceries and gas on it. I plan to pay for the entire trip with it. We have the vacation $$$ in a CD that matures in October so we'll cash it out and pay off the card when our 0% financing is up!

Too bad you didn't have the card sooner. Disney Visa has a current 5 times the Disney Dollars on Gas, Grocery, Airline and Dining for April, May and June. There is a theshold amount to spend over each month but we have been using the card and paying it off each month to get the extra dollars. You had to receive the offer via mail or email and sign up and be a cardholder since Oct of last year. Disney Visa has these offers every so often. The key is to PAY it off asap!! or they win with interest. Have fun earning the Disney Dollars!

Do they have good promos like this often or not really? Maybe this fall one will start we can take advantage of! Can you still only make the $750 total in rewards dollars? How much is the threshold amount? And, if you spend that much and over, do you get rewards for all the dollars spent, or only the dollars spent over that amount? That way you'd really have to spend a ton to get any extra if the money below the threshold didn't count towards the total. :confused3 Thanks! :goodvibes

They had a similar one for J F M of this year. I'm not sure of the threshold, but the current 5 x bonus offer has a 100 limit for the bonus amount that doesn't count toward the annual limit. The threshold to spend for me for the 5x offer was 250 per month. You do have to spend the 250 each month on the specific types of items (gas, groceries, airline and dining) from how the offer is written. I guess not too hard with gas, groceries and airlines going up so much. I haven't had the bonus portion posted yet, it is supposed to post in 6-8 weeks from the month of use. The bonus is the actual month, not the billing month date. Very confusing and there was another thread on this about a month ago when the offer was new. Others have had other amounts. The offer sounded great and it actually is but the important part is to PAY it in full each month as not to get caught up in probably what they really want you to do - carry a balance for necessary items!! I actually sent a check in the beginning of the month as an estimate for our groceries I thought we would charge. You still receive the dollars. No offer is perfect, but this one can be used to the cardholders advantage if careful!

Some posters have said that there is no annual limit now, I'm not sure. I really haven't gotten up that high since I don't use the Disney Visa unless I'm sure we are going. I have another card that gives actual dollars that are just applied annually as a credit to the card.

How do you use points to pay your remaining balance on your trip(that haven't been charged to the card yet)?

I have earned points.

Say I owe $1,000 on my trip. I have $400 in rewards. What next?

All I've done in the past is request my rewards dollars on a rewards card to spend in Disney. This time I want to apply them to my trip balance?

I have earned points.

Call Disney Visa at least 2-3 weeks before you will need them. Ask to transfer your Disney Dollars to a card. You will receive the card in the mail and then call to pay off or make a pmt on the vacation and just use the number on the card and have the CM apply it. We did this last year and had no problem. Just KEEP the card you will need it if you have to cancel or change anything. It also will be good to refill until the expiration date on the card. Hope this helps.
