Just Got BCV at 7 weeks out!

Hi All--

One of the many themes floating around these boards has been that with the expansion of DVC (and some still say due to the huge influx of the dreaded SSR owners...) that they can't ever get the smaller DVC resorts.

I have posted many times over the past two or three years that I rarely have a hard time getting what I want. And here is another example. (Granted, I only travel off-peak.)

I called DVC yesterday for a Sept. reservation. I had my choice of...OKW, SSR (both of these are usually expected to have availability except during the busiest of times)...and I also had the option of BWV--STANDARD view (yes, you read that right) and BCV! AKV was booked solid and I didn't ask about VWL. I would have taken BWV-Standard to save on points, but my kids had their hearts set on BCV so that is where we are.

Tonight we all watched the DVC planning dvd so that we could get a feel for each resort (our youngest doesn't remember BCV so she was having a hard time seeing why the older ones were so excited).

So have heart! YES, you can still get reservations even for last-minute trips.

Ok, I have a trip in 7 weeks! Time to get planning!

CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope I can get my 9 nights at BCV at the 7 month window. That window is in dec. I hope I hope. We spent 6 nights there and returned on Sat. WE LOVED IT.

What size room? I am happy for you! We just love this resort. Even when I am not staying there, I try to eat there so I can go there. I ended up buying there, because I was so tried of being told no. I am floored that there was availability at 7 weeks. I wonder if it is the gas prices? I know we are hearing all about how hard it is to fill the tank here. Then we are told we have the cheapest in the Nation.
We had Delta Pilots thank us last week for still flying.

So happy for you! What dates are you staying and what type of room did you reserve?

We will be visiting 9/28-10/4. We made our resv approx. 2 weeks ago for a 1BR and the only options available were OKW & SSR. We're on the WL for BWV, BCV or VWL. We know BWV and BCV are a long shot during F&W. We'll see if anything opens up!

That's great to hear! Have you been to BCV? It's one of my favorite resorts. Sometimes it's amazing what's available! Once I got the BWV standard view for early December at 7 months. And in October, the dates I wanted weren't available at alot of places, but they were at VWL (unfortunately, not one of the 3 resorts I wanted, but OK anyways). Have a wonderful time.

I am one of the dreade SSR owners!! We just got back from the most magical stay at the BCV and we loved it so much. We have gone on two trips this year-SSR in December and now BCV from 7/26-8/2. Honestly we enjoyed the BCV so much more-the location to Epcot cannot be beat!!!! Epcot is our favorite park and it was awesome being so close to it.
Art the greeter was so very friendly as well as all of the helpful CMs. Just did not get that feeling at SSR.
We are already planning our next trip for 12/09 and hope to again be able to book BCV at the 7 month window.

I had 10 points to use up before August 31st so I called at the end of June to see what was available and I got a studio for one night @ AKV! I had a choice of VWL, BWV (staying there in Oct), OKW (stayed there 3 times) and SSR (home resort) and AKV's. So, I chose AKV since we had not stayed there before. This was 6 weeks out! So, now I can see what AKV is like on August 17th! I think if you are flexible and don't have your heart set on something, you will be surprised.

Also, at 7 months out I was easily able to book a 1 bedroom at BWV for October, one of the busiest times there because of F&W in Epcot. I also had a choice when booking there of all the DVC resorts except BCV. Maybe I should look into adding on at BCV's since it seems difficult to get into.

We were at BCV at the same time. We checked in at BCV on Sunday July 27th after 8 nights at OKW for 6 nights and departed on Aug. 2nd. We LOVED IT. We are trying to plan another trip for 8-9 nights there next July again. We are SSR owners too.....loved SSR but BCV really changed our minds on that one. Our kids loved SAB. They had the best activities at the pool. I didn't want to check out on the 2nd. BOOOHOOOO

Have been on the waitlist for BCV studio for Sept 11-15 for 5 months and no luck so far. Wish I had insisted that it be set up for individual days instead of the whole thing while that was still an option. It includes a Fri and Sat and we still didn't get it. Have AKV Sav View but would prefer BCV for this trip. We are BCV owners but didn't decide on the trip until we were sure of air fare so didn't take advantage of the 11 month window.

Hey Kimber--we are in a 1 BR, which can be the easiest to book, so I am sure that is part of it as well.

Oh, I meant this tongue-in-cheek. I am an SSR owner and we LOVE it there. It is just that "back in the day" SSR owners were always blamed for the lack of availability and the other resorts.

I am happy to say that we seem to be over that now!

We will be there right before you. 9/22 - 9/26 in a 1-BR. So we get the very beginning of F&W. I am sure that opening night of F&W will be packed, but at least we can just pop back home with ease!

I am SO glad to hear this! I am calling tomorrow to change to a non-home resort for our trip!! Keeping our fingers crossed for WLV / BCV / BWV
