Just got back from our trip, we only spent two days at WDW one at MK and the other at AK. The rest of the time we spent over at Cocoa Beach. It rained for about an hour everyday at dinner time and downpoured the afternoon we did AK, but that was ok with us it made the lines disappear (we walked right on the safari twice at 3 in the afternoon!) I'd be happy to answer any questions anyone has!

My sister is taking her boys in Aug and will be going to WDW after a visit with her friend in Cocoa Beach - can you tell me how long the drive was? - and was there any 'better' route to take between the two? TIA !:smooth:

Umm I would say the drive was about 40 minutes. It's all highway and the speed limit is 70mph so it goes pretty fast! We took 95N to the Beeline Expressway West (this is also known as rt528) Than you take this to 417 towards Tampa and just follow the signs in. Make sure to tell her to have lots of quarters! I was suprised that some of the tolls required exact change....I'm not sure what you do if you don't have it. But in all it was 3.75 each way! Tell her to make sure she goes to Ron Jon Surf Shop in Cocoa it's HUGE!

Thanks so much, sumrgurl1! I didn't remember all of the tolls, it's been a while since I've travelled that way - those are the little 'tips' that make a trip so much easier !!!

Ron Jon's is already on the list - my DS dragged me there a few years ago after Space Camp - he LOVED !!! it - I couldn't get him out of the store - big 'ouch' on the credit card!:smooth:

I'm so happy to see your post! We're leaving next week and after WDW we're going to Cocoa Beach for 2 days. Where did you stay? Did you eat any where really good? Is there something really awesome we have to see while we are there? We picked that beach because we heard it was less populated than Daytona and close by. Was it busy when you went? Sorry for all the questions! :hyper:

Well we stayed with family so I don't have any hotel reviews. We also had all our meals at their house, but they told us that Calaberra's (sp??) was good. The beaches were empty on weekdays but sat. and sun. were packed! If you drive along the coast about 1-2 miles south of downtown cocoa (close to Patrick Airforce Base) there are a bunch of FREE parking lots with showers and bathrooms along the way. We liked these beaches much better than the ones directly in downtown cocoa because they were much quieter and you have to pay to park in downtown cocoa. The water was beautiful the days we were there, almost like bath water! The only thing that was a must see was Ron Jon surf shop, it's huge! We spent a while watching the surfers too they are really talented down there! Enjoy your trip!
