travelled with 7 year old daughter, and son who turned 6 while on our trip!
Bought 4 day passes for all and got a $63 birthday "credit card" for my son to use on merchandise in the parks. (only $5 more to go from 3 day to 4 day park passes.)

Chef Mickey for birthday day!
NO park hoppers ... can't imagine hopping with kids their age.
brought own double stroller-worked out GREAT!
Characters was the bomb for this age. Did princess and fairy greets in Mickey's Toon Town. Air conditioned while you wait!
Met Mickey and Minney behind their houses in MK.

Mickey's Philharmagic was the bomb.

Met Jasmine, Alladin and Genie at Morocco in Epcot. Mexican Donald at Epcot.

Princess Storybook dining at Akerhaus in Norway was AWESOME! 5 princesses visit and take picture with one. Get an 8x10 and 4 4x6s as part of deal. wonderful.

ENJOY!

Sounds like you had a great time! I'm glad to hear that the stroller thing worked out well for your kids. I am struggling with whether or not to bring our 2 singles for my 7 and 5 year olds. I KNOW she (7) wants to ride, but I am wondering if I should insist that she walks just like she does at home.

We are also doing the Princess Storybook dining for the first time this year too and I am glad to hear that you really enjoyed it!

Is the Fairy meet and greet really popular still? What time of day did you go and how long did you wait? My girls really want to meet them, and the thought of wasting hours waiting in line is stressing me out!

Glad you had a great time. If you do not mind me asking, what type of double stroller do you have?

Question! I know very little about kids but I am traveling with one in 16 days. Is it customary to have a stroller at 7? Should I look into this? Thank you

Sounds like you had a great time!

For the stroller, we bring one and if we need great it is right there. If we didn't and needed one after days of the Disney march...:scared1:

Boy Scout motto, be prepared.

So we should probley bring one just in case. Wow I hadn't even thought about it. But I would hate to have to hear him upset. And since its going to be around Labor Day it would be smart to bring one. (Busy, hot, Crowds)

The stroller was great for me for DD5 b/c It made it easier to keep up with her and she had a place to rest.

When I went last July we rented a stroller for my 8 & 6 year old. It was lifesaver but wish that I brought one from home because it was costly to rent one.
I am debating on bringing one in January when we go.

Welome back! Were there any items that the birthday card wouldn't pay for? We will be there in 8 days for my sons birthday and we'll be getting one of those cards as well.

Thanks!

My DD6 wants to do this too. I too am stressing.

thanks for your posts! Will try to answer all your questions: :cool1:

stroller: based on the DIS boards, I brought the stroller for my 7 and 6 year old (even though we never use it at home except if we go to the zoo.) I dusted it off in my garage and shlepped it to the airport. (A "duo glider" by Graco ... the front/back style ... mine is like 6 years old ... I saw someone with the latest duo-glider, looks NICE and light!)

BEST decision we made! The airline just tagged it and put it on the plane at the gate for us along with one booster seat. didn't have to pay. It was SO great to have the stroller to push our STUFF in the airport AND at the parks. yes, the kids got in and out when they needed to ... no big deal. Parking the strollers at the parks is a piece of cake. How else would we have carried the huge collapsable cooler I brought for water and gatorade. (We drank so much to stay hydrated ... and we're talking April/May. Can't imagine in the summer how hot it will be. And I was drinking 2 an hour ... NOT paying $2.50 for 1 bottle water at the parks. Bought a case at Publish for $4!) The stroller was a DREAM!!! DO IT!! DON"T STRESS ABOUT IT!

The lines for the princess were about 15-20 minutes. It was fine with me as it was air-conditioned and in the middle of the day when it was the hottest. Fairies were like 30 minutes, but same thing. Worth it to us. Aurora whipped around the corner and took my daughter's hand. (Her fave princess.) She was SHOCKED!) It was a beautiful thing. And the fairies were hilarious. They were saying funny stuff.

BIRTHDAY CARD/CREDIT: ONLY good for merchandise in park/souvenirs essentially. SO DON'T BUY any until you get the card. Can only get it ON the birthday. Don't forget a birth certificate with the seal. GOOFY actually gave my son his "birthday pin" at Chef Mickey! So we didn't need to get it at guest services. My son was delighted. We ordered their standard cake for like $27. very cute.

Did you go for breakfast or lunch at Akershus?

We did a late lunch around 2:45. It's because I had switched things around last minute and lost my lunch res. Ended up with an 8:30 pm res and realized that was just too late for us. We wanted to be out of the park long before then! So we landed the 2:45. Worked out great really. The food was delicious!! The princesses were great. Greeted by and took a picture with Belle. And then visiting our table: Mulan, Arial (also saw her at her grotto in MK. Grotto wearing the mermaid outfit and dining wearing princess dress.), Sleeping Beauty and Snow White! :)princess:

our theme parks dates by the way were: 4/28, 29. 30 and 5/1 of 2009

Thank you so much for replying. I am debating between breakfast and lunch, but am thinking lunch will work out better with timing and I really would like to see Ariel! I am a little worried about the food, but I think it will be fine! Now I just have to see what I can get during Free Dining! Welcome back!

Why are you worried about the food? There is a big variety. My daughter had mickey shaped ravioli. She was begging for more. Comes with meatballs. My son had pizza. I had a salmon dish to die for and I don't remember what hubby had. But appetizers our buffet style: salad, cheeses, meats, fruit. And dessert was delicious. A lot to choose from. My son was thrilled they had root beer. :) I would love to eat there again! :)
