We just got back on Thursday. We were there from Sunday the 7th through Thurs. the 11th. We went the week after (Oct. 13th-18th) last year and the crowds were light and the weather was nice. This year was completely different!
The crowds on Sunday and Monday were incredible. We didn't ride nemo our entire trip, even on Tues. and Wed. the line was over 60 minutes every time we went by it. We figured we will save it for another trip!
Indy closed the day we got there, so we weren't able to ride that either. Pirate Island was also closed, but they did have Jack and the other pirates wandering through NOS, which was actually really nice. I got my picture with my favorite Pirate (I call him the "French" pirate, don't know his name), and got to listed to them sing while eating at Cafe Orleans. I realized how much I missed them being on that side of the water!
The weather was HOT for Oct. the first couple days (in the mid to high 80's) but did get better as the week went on. Given, most people would love that, but we are from Seattle and I thought it was a bit hot, that with the amount of people in the park made it feel even more warm.
We did have a great time though. We did a lot of things that we haven't done before. We saw some of the 3D movies that we never get to see, and I discovered the joys of the single rider pass for California Screaming! My DH just doesn't do big roller coasters.
We did take the Halloween tour, which was cute, but I didn't think it was worth the money that we paid for it. We got to go on 3 rides, and our tour guide was fun, but it wasn't what we were expecting. I think next time we will do one of the more "traditional" tours.
We stayed at the Shearton Park Place. We stay there every time we go. I love the beds, the staff are very nice, and we have a great view of the park. We drive in every morning, and it works for us. I do see how it would be very convienent to stay on site though for those mid-day breaks!
And a big thanks to everyone that helped us out with this trip. We did do toontown morning madness, it was cute, but they line for Mickey and Minnie was just as long as it was later in the day. The opening ceremony was cute though. Thanks so much for the tickets, you guys are the best.
Let me know if you have any questions!
