Hi
We got back very late on Saturday. Just a few thoughts, will write full trip report soon. Dates Tue 30 May - Sat 3 June.
Travel - Eurostar Leisure Select, really good, but late arrival back in UK. Free drinks on return journey, food very acceptable.
Hotel - Sequoia Lodge. Very comfortable and quiet room in Big Sur Lodge. Nice pool. Breakfast was busy but never off-puttingly so, although we did get there by 8am every morning. Nice bar, but expensive, We had a very nice meal in Hunter's Grill on the evening of our arrival. CMs all friendly and pleasant. First in the queue for check-in so we were lucky, checked in about 2pm and got our room straight away, all seemed very efficent.
Disneyland Park - we really enjoyed all the rides here. Crowds increased markedly on Fri and Sat, BTM was 75 mins standby on Sat pm. Great theming and atmosphere. Boys loved Buzz and IASW. Fastpasses mostly gone by 2pm ish on all days. We did GMFL Breakfast on Saturday at 8am, so beat the crowds to Fantasyland and did Teacups, Dumbo, Carousel, Pinocchio and Peter Pan in the first hour 9-10.
Walt Disney Studios - we spent Friday here, enjoyed all the shows and attractions, great atmosphere. Could do with more rides but they are building some more! Highlight was the Stunt Show and the theming in Studio 1. No good food options.
Meals - enjoyed buffet at Inventions, good character interaction, lovely food but VERY expensive. Walts was a nice relaxing break from a busy park on Saturday lunchtime, still quite expensive. We had a nice meal at Planet Hollywood but had to wait an hour for a table ( we had met some friends for a drink - should have gone in to request table earlier and got pager) Counter service meals at Pizzeria della Notte, quite good pasta and pizza, and Restaurant en Coulisse, very average burger, New York Deli sandwiches quite nice.
Overall experience - fantastic! We felt that our boys at 5 and 8 were the right ages to appreciate most of the rides. It was nice not to have a buggy, as this would have slowed us down. Our main tip would be to send someone off to get fastpasses first thing, we did this on Saturday and it worked brilliantly. Glad we went midweek as everything was much quieter then.
Thanks for all your tips everyone, it definitely helped to get the most from our holiday!
