We got back yesterday from our 7 night stay at GF.
We stayed in Conch Key 2nd floor room with a Theme Park View.
While we were there they closed off the whole of the 3rd floor and striped out the rooms. Beds, Carpets, Balcony Furniture etc were all removed.
We enquired about changing rooms as it was quite noisy while they were working in the room above us, but as this was our 2nd room (the 1st one in Boca Chica had not such a magical view) and we were out most of the day we decided to put up with it.
I would say that if you didn't want to experience the noise/smell of the work then make sure you are not in a building currently being refurbished. They were also working until 7/8pm if not later. Although no dust there was a strong smell of glue on days when carpets were being fitted and paint on other days.
I would say that they only reason we noticed so much was that the work started on our pool day and we had ordered a room service breakfast so were in our room later than normal that morning.
There seemed to be a team of 20-30 decorators working on Conch Key and we certinaly didn't notice any of the same activity in any other buildings, which would have been evident.
We did catch sight of the new carpet and drapes but were unable to get any photos.
The work seems to be be being completed quickly as the work started last Sunday and the screening was being taken down from the 3rd floor as we were leaving on Thursday.
If anybody has questions I will answer as best I can.
