Just got back from WDW... How many people went and were sick with the flu??

Hugs to all who where sick on thier trip!!
I live in S Florida and everyone here had been sick also!! And they say we ae 46th in the states with the most flu cases!!! I feel bad for anyone sickk on vacation!! I hope eveyone gets better soon.

we were in the World from 12/20 - 12/25. about the middle of the day on 24th, dd started really feeling tired and achey (?). went back to room @ 4pm to rest, then really got to feeling bad. i did take some tylenol flu gelcaps, so she loaded up on those, then just slept on the plane on the way home. it took her several days to recoupe and none of the rest of us came down with it. funny thing, she's the only one of us that got a flu shot this season!

We were in WDW from Dec. 7-14 and we got the stomache bug when we got home. We must have caught it at the end of the trip because exactly one week after we got home my youngest DD (18 months) got the bug. She was throwing up everyday for 7 days and Christmas day was a wash. My Mom who was on the trip with us, Myself, and my youngets DD all were sick at both ends, and the baby must have given it to grandpa cause he was also sick at both ends on Christmas day. So a long story short we slept through Christmas. I'm hoping no problems for our April trip.

So sorry to hear all these stories! I hope you are all 100% better soon! One question, though. For those of you who called in Doctors - how did you find one? Did you just call the front desk of your resort?

DS had that bad flu this past week, and it developed into pnuemonia. He is doing much better after 7 days of 104 temps, going both ends, and not eating one thing! We are leaving for WDW next week, and I am nervous he will have a relapse, so I wanted to know how you got the Doc!

I came down with the most horrible stomach bug shortly after the stroke of midnight NYE at the Hard Rock Hotel (and no, I hadn't even had a sip of champagne to ring in the new year!) I was sick all night, to the point that I finally just took my pillow in to the bathroom with me and curled up on the floor! But even worse than that was the fact we had to fly home that day. The HRH reluctantly gave was late check out at 1 pm, and I dragged myself to the airport with bucket in hand. I apologize to those around us on the flight home, suffice to say the little white bag came in to play several times! I would not wish that horrible flight home on my worst enemy. I expect the rest of my family to come down with this any day now.

don't know about the flu, but i came down with a wicked cold on new year's day. the rest of our party of four are okay.

Someone asked how we got a hold of a Dr. We were staying at the Dolphin and hubby called the desk to ask about a Dr. or an emergency room. We were told that the ER was packed full and they gave us the name of a medical practice that has Dr's and Ped's Dr's who will visit the area hotels. WE called our Dr and he opted for the Dr instead of the ER. Just a little addition to my other note. Took both kids to Dr's today for follow ups...DS is doing much better DD 's throat looked great but....now she has 2 ear infections. She didnt even act fussy!!! Oh well.

We were at the world 12/24 thru1/01.I encountered so many sick people on the monerail coughing looking awful nothing like being trapped with the germs.At the am concierge breakfast this man saying how his whole family is ill talking over the food table.his wife joins me in the elevator more free airbornes for me.I had my kids scrub their hands constantly purell is a beautiful thing.I also have always taught them never touch the ride railings just cross your arms.I must say how gross it is when people dont even cover their mouths when coughing i was caught in this situation over and over gross.We made it 9 days in disney another 3 travel days through 11 states flu free not bad for a family of 5.

Sorry it took so long for me to repost! I didn't realize so many people would respond!

DD2 is still recuperating. No more vomiting, or fevers but she won't eat or drink enough of what she needs to recover. So, she is recuperating slowly but surely! I still have a little cough. DD15 and DH have fully recuperated! YAY! DD9 NEVER got the first cough, go figure!

I have not heard from the POLY yet, but I spoke to the Front Desk Mgr. before leaving.*(She had been keeping tabs on us throughout our stay.) She told us to look for something from them when we got home since it probably would not be ready before we checked out. I think she realized that we could have checked out after the first day and elected to stay. Of course, we did not realize how bad it was or could get either!

I think it is interesting that we were transported by Fire and Rescue to the hospital instead of a Dr. coming to our room... of course we did have an emergency situation at the time. We just pressed the medical button on our telephone and explained to the person on the other end what our situation was. I don't know if we were talking to a 911 operator or someone from the hotel. But it was only minutes before we had, security, mgmt, and fire and rescue in our room. I was very happy with the response time!
