"The Happening" was _____________ .

Your Choices:

a. Lame
b. Dissappointing
c. ridiculous
d. a waste of my money
e. all of the above

What can I say? It was just really, really bad. Not enough to even get my pulse going, just chopped full of bad acting and nowhere story lines.

Amy

Gosh...doesn't that make you mad when you pay so much for a movie ticket these days and the film stinks? I hope your next one is much better! ::yes::

I've been disappointed too may times by M. Night Shyamalan - the only movie I've like was The Sixth Sense.

I was thinking about going but after reading your post I'm starting to rethink. I loved the sixth sense and signs. I know I'll end up seeing it at some point. I'll probably just wait till it comes out on DVD. Thanks for the heads up.

I was also planning on going to see it however I think you have changed my mind. I will wait until it comes on cable.
Sorry to hear you wasted your money!

Thanks, you just confirmed for me that I will not be seeing this movie. Its disappointing after Sixth Sense there was so much hype for M. Night, but he has been unable to deliver anything near that.

I had also read that the movie was very little like the trailer, and there is nothing worse than that.

I don't like scary movies! I am a big four year old where is my pillow and blanky so I can hide under them:eek:

glad to hear I am not missing anything!;)

Me too!!

Even the trailers scare me! Quick put a Disney movie on! :rotfl:

It's rather a shame that M. Night has turned out such crap. I think he got very lucky with 6th sense ( I had it figured out in the first 10 minutes, but the tension was very good, and it was extremely well acted and paced.), but nothing else has held a candle to it. Signs was just okay, the Village was a wreck. I really wanted "The Happening" to be good. Ah, well.

Saw it last night, it was horrible! First time ever I've actually heard a theater crowd groan at the end. :rotfl2:

Wow... hubby shared your opinion.. didn't like it too much... I must say I thoroughly enjoyed the movie... was a little graphic, and as usual "Marky Mark"'s acting was bland, but I enjoyed the story and idea behind. DH thought the acting sucked, but I didn't go into it expecting much and loved it. I have to agree about M. Night Shamalyan's other movies.. didn't like the village after the first time I saw it (first time was good) didn't like the Lady in the Water.. Signs was pretty good.

I wanted to like this, I really did but I just couldn't. It was the most tame R rated movie i've ever seen & all of the supposed gore looked way too fake to be frightening. Most in the theater just laughed during it because it was so over the top. Marky Mark & Zooey were good in a B Movie sorta way but for the most part, it wasn't a great film at all. One good thing though, I work at the theater so I never have to pay for these "wonderful" films which is also a huge plus.

Watching Get Smart on Thursday, I can't wait!

SPOILER!

The ending is people stop dying.

Or do they! DUNH DUNH DUNH!

No really that's the ending. There's no twists here.

The only thing I liked about this was that is was filmed the next town over (diner scene). Unfortunately, I didn't learn that until last week so I missed seeing Mark Wahlberg when he was here.

No kidding, at the end, someone Boo'd!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: The theater just started laughing.... people leaving said they were going to go cut a tree down now! :rotfl2: :lmao:

I have to agree with the idea that the Happening was... less then what I expected. Now granted, I put a LOT of expectation on M. Night's movies...but this!

It was violent for violent's sake. The thing about M. Night's movies was that he DIDN'T have to show the blood and guts to scare that part of your brain that is terrified by the very THOUGHT of something bad. But with this movie... he showed...EVERYTHING...and it was completely unnecessary.

I was completely disappointed.

Now Iron Man and the Hulk, on the other hand... :cool1:
