Just got back from Pop Century 10/03/05

Just wanted to say again that DD9 and myself absolutely loved POP back in August.... it was bright ,clean, fun and truely "Magical" with the huge icons and the piped in music . We have stayed at the Deluxes ,as well as the All Star Values and we loved POP :cool1: ... will definitely stay there again...hope it will be soon !!! :flower: I did all my homework when it came to researching a resort to stay at this time...there are plenty of "positive" reports on this board about POP, so don't get discouraged if your planning a future trip to the world !!! :flower:

We were in 7253 from Sept 28 - Oct 4 and had a very good stay.

We did get our request of a king sized bed. (We like to think that celebrating our 25th Anniversary had something to do with it.)

We did hear our neighbors talking once or twice - but it only noticed it during the day. Of course we also heard passers-by on occasion, but it was not at all disturbing. Even on days when we slept in and everyone else was out early. Actually I felt that it was VERY quiet where we were. I used to hear a LOT more noise whenever we stayed at a Days Inn regularly when visiting DD at school.

We did hear the turbo toilets, but we surely did not hear what came before the flush!!!

Mousekeeping was top notched. We got celebratory balloons and a card signed by Mickey and Minnie for our Annivesary. What a nice touch!

Food courts were and wait times were just fine - exactly what one would expect at a Food Court. :)

I can't comment on busses since we always use our own car. We have learned over 8 stays that we just don't have the patience for Disney transportation - ANYWHERE!!!

I would definately return to Pop Century if given the chance. And would recommend them to almost any one else.

But as they say - different strokes for different folks. Guess we are Pop Century kind of folks. :)

Me and my bf stayed at Pop 1 1/2 years ago for one night only (we drove in and only spent 2 days in WDW) and I thought the whole place was adorable. Pools were cute, rooms were ok, everything was clean, yes, the walls are really thin and that is one major downfall. I heard the man next door go to the bathroom! And whenever they flushed it woke us up!
Bus service was fine- we didn't get a seat, but it wasn't a problem and service was always quick.
We did get the King Size bed, too. We are also part of the not exactly thin club.
Yes, it is an effort to fit as many people as possible in a small space, but I think it is because Disney wants to appeal to a variety of budgets and tastes- which is a great thing.
This vacation I am staying at the Polynesian but when I had the opportunity to extend my vacation by a few days, I turned to Pop and I am getting an extra 2 nights there. I have requested a lake view so as not to have noise from people in the pools late at night and I have also purchased a white noise machine to help eliminate the people noise due to thin walls. I am also praying I don't get any *gotta go every two hours* people for neighbors for those nights.
Overall, I think mods and deluxes offer more and I would love to stay there, but I definitely think that if staying Pop means more Disney, I'm all about it! :goodvibes

That was our philosophy too! 4 or 5 nights at a Mod or 8 nights at Pop. I'll take the 8 nights please :rotfl:

We loved our stay. This was our first stay at a value and I was impressed. We had no noise problem and we enjoyed the pools. The theming was great. We normally just ate breakfast there and found sitting at an outside table quieter than inside. We did have our own car so I can't comment on the bus service.

The lines for the buses were unmanageable and buses so packed with no standing room let alone no room to sit. The lines to check for dining and ask questions were very long. am not trying to be mean but I got the feeling I was living in the middle of the candyland game, it just felt that way to me. The gift shop was so crowded and lines to check out everytime we went in. The food court lines were long.

My opinion to a "T". The theming was great and I liked that everything was close for walking purposes, but now thinking about it, I think everything was too close. Pondering over why I didn't like it one day after our return, I realized that I felt like a sardine in a can! Your description of being in a Candyland game fits perfectly! No matter where we went - there were lines. We didn't even make it over to the Hippy Dippy Pool cause it was always so crowded!

We're POR people, but our grands prefer a value. So when they are with us, we now go to POP. We were there (9 of us) during winter break and were told it was full. We had no more than the expected crowds, was always able to get a seat in the food court, and the pools were never overcrowded. Sure we heard a toilet or two flush during the night..but we hear that at POR too. We've now been to POP 3 or 4 times, out of our 30 stays, and always had a good time. We usually take our car to the parks, and the only time in recent memory we've taken a bus, it was from POR..it was slow, but they had a lot of people to move, so we used the extra wait time to visit.

My DH, DD12 and I stayed in the 50's section at POP for a couple of nights in May and loved it...we would absolutely stay there again!! We had a 4th floor corner room in the building closest to the 60's section. We had a great view of the pool and it was just a short walk to the back side of the building for a great view of the MK and Epcot fireworks.
