and loved it! I stayed at the Poly next year and thought I'd be unhappy going back to a moderate. I was wrong! POFQ was wonderful. It was immaculate. I've never had such good mousekeeping at any of the resorts. She had fun with my kids' stuffed animals each day. One day, we came in and heard the tv on. We knew we hadn't left it on. It turned out that the kids' stuffed animals were all lined up and watching tv! Mickey was holding the remote. The kids were thrilled. She would even line up our shoes neatly each day. The grounds were beautiful and everything was close. By the way, we were in building 6, room 6118. It was close to the bus stop food court, etc. The boat ride to DTD was wonderful. Transportation was OK but I did get the feeling that busses for other resorts were more plentiful. Either that, or I have bad luck and must just miss a bus every time. I felt bad for Riverside because they always had to stand at busy times and the bus usually was full before it could go to the other depots. The 4th of July was really bad. We were trying to leave Epcot and the line for the bus was unreal. We decided to take the monorail to MK and take the bus from there. MK was the best park in terms of transportation because it is the only park that separates POFQ and POR. Enough about transportation. We spent alot of time at Riverside too. We could walk there from building 6 without a problem. We did the surrey bikes, cane pole fishing and we used the pool. As far as the food court at POFQ goes, try not to eat too many meals there. It was bad. DON'T order the chicken club wrap. Yuck! If anyone has questions, let me know!

Thanks for your positive report, not all of them have been that way. I'm so excited about our stay there next week! I do have a couple questions for you.

Do they have children's bike seats and helmets at all? We have a three year old that would love to go bike riding.

What did they have besides pop (soda) at the food court for little ones to drink?

Welcome Back! I'm glad that you had a great stay!

Thanks for the info .... we are staying at POFQ at the end of September. We have never stayed on Disney properties before.
We vacation on the gulf and have always driven over just for the day. We had Disney overload trying to pick the best moderate resort and your posting really helped to reinforce that we made a good choice.
Needless to say we are very excited.
Two questions ... is there more than one pool and which non-smoking building is the best to stay in. It is only my husband an myself ... no children.
Thanks!:earsgirl:

DisKim-glad you had a good trip. We stayed at POFQ in April & had the same luck with the transportation & food court. We also stayed in building 6 & loved the location.
CMRM-there was just the two of us & we got a king bed corner room in building 6. The room was great & housekeeping was excellent. It was non-smoking. There is only one pool at POFQ, but it is large and you can also use the POR pool & the quiet pools there. We liked our location because it was an easy walk to POR, which we had stayed at several times before.

Naisy 68 - I don't know if they had bike helmets. I didn't even think of it. My DS is 4 and rode in the front seat. It kind of looks like a basket and it has a seatbelt. There was lemonade and fruit punch in the food court. There was also unsweetened iced tea and water. My kids drink mostly water all day.

CMRM - I really liked building 6. Most people like 5 which is right in front of 6, but I don't like to be near the pool due to the noise factor. Building 6 was right behind it. I would request the side facing building 5 though because it is closer to the food court, pool etc. You really can't go wrong with the building choice at POFQ. Everything is close. Building 7 was the furthest away but the river view was beatiful there. There is only the one pool which is very large. If I didn't have kids, I might opt to take the scenic walk over to POR and use their quiet pools. Dubloon Lagoon was quite loud and crowded.

Did you get to try any of the southern creole type dishes there, like the Jumbalaya, Shrimp, ribs, gumbo? I have asked DH to make a special trip there (we will be staying at AS Movies) because I like that kind of food. Am I wasting our time? Are the portions big enough to share?
Thanks & glad you had a great time!

I didn't try the creole dishes. If you go for that, make sure it is after 5 pm because they don't serve that type of food during the lunch hours. I never ate there for dinner so I didn't have the opportunity to try any of it. The portions are pretty big. You can definitely share.

Glad you had such a great time! Was Bldg. 6 close to the parking lot? We'll be using our car, especially in the afternoons for an early dinner out of WDW.

hahaha...this is totally something I would order too...thanks for teh heads up! (What was wrong with it? greasey dark meat chicken? I've gotten that a few times around WDW...I find I eat ALOT more red meat when I go to WDW just to avoid some nasty chicken)

But thank you for your reviews! DH and I are staying here at the end of September (more at my insisting...we've stayed at CBR twice, AKL twice and WL...I wanted to try a new place as we are going BACK to AKL in December - love the place, just wanted to try another moderate for the september trip though.)

Thanks again!

I would not travel out of my way for the creole dishes at the POFQ food court. I had the jambalaya and it was terrible. The food court was the one thing we didn't like about POFQ-- the rest of the resort was fabulous.

We just returned from our first WDW trip in mid-June. We stayed at POFQ and absolutely loved it. Can't imagine staying anywhere else the next time we go. Our rooms were in Bldg 3, third floor. The rooms faced the parking lot, but the view (and noise) from the parking lot was completely blocked by a grove of trees, so we never felt like we had a parking lot view. It was very peaceful and quiet, yet we were only a very short walk from the gift shop, food court, pool, and our car. Perfect location, in our opinion. Wish we were there right now....:D

Thanks for the feedback ... every time someone posts a positive feedback, the more excited I get!
So looking forward to it ... don't want to rush the summer though!
Take care!

That is so cute!

I stayed at POFQ in June and loved it also. Beautiful grounds- loved riding the boat to DD. The kids loved the pool. We usually stay at ASMO but wanted to try a place with more to do at the resorts as we were not planning on doing the parks everyday. Hanging out at POR and POFQ was fun.

Just a quick note- we didn't mind the food court at all. I loved the muffelatta with sweet pototo chips. DD had the chicken wrap and it was good- all white meat- maybe we got lucky or maybe you just got a bad one...
I would order the kids spaghetti and meatballs for myself it came with garlic bread and was HUGE for 3.99. The dinners (ribs, chicken...) did not look good to me. The side orders looked like veggies from a can and there were not many choices. Also we pulled out a trick from the budget board and oredered the double cheeseburger with extra bun. My kids were mortified:rolleyes: but I saved about $5.

LuvindisCruiser- There was a parking lot next to building 4. You can cut through building 4 and get to the parking lot which is just steps away. Keep in mind, the closeness of the parking lot would depend on where you are in building 6. We were n 6118 which was very close to building 4. You could try requesting building 4 but I think it might be a smoking building.

Concerning the food at POFQ----

My family loved the fast food type meals but the cajun/creole----DON"T.

We are from South Louisiana and we love that kind of food but it doesn't even taste anything like it. My DH tried the jambalaya and he said it was awful. He tried the red beans and rice and said that was horrible. It seems the only New Orleans items which are good are the beignets but we didn't have those.

I ditto this!!! I can't wait for our trip in October. And thank you for the report, I'm glad you had a great time!!!

Called POFR today .... they said only part of Building 2 is smoking!
I wanted to be sure as I read somewhere else on the internet that it was Bldgs 2 & 4. :scared1:
We definitely want a Non Smoking room!

I don't know if all the rooms in Bldg 3 are non-smoking, but ours were. As I posted earlier, it is close to the parking lot but with none of the disadvantages that I had anticipated. One thing I forgot to mention was Mousekeeping. I would rate ours as only fair to good. When we checked in, I found two socks from the previous occupants that had been missed by Mousekeeping. (They were under the bed, between the spread and the platform.) Also a battery under the AC unit and a couple of cheerios and M&M's next to the baseboards. Not a big deal to us, but obviously our cleaning person(s) didn't have an eye for detail.... :) And during the week we stayed there, we never had any of the towel animals, etc. that some have described. (And yes, we tipped during our stay). Maybe it was because they could tell that our kids were older and thought that they might be "too old" to appreciate. Again, not a big deal to us, but it might be to some of you., so I wanted to mention it. Overall our experience was wonderful, and I would go back in a heartbeat! Have a great time!
