The Disney's Christmas Train visited the Big Apple this weekend. We just got back. It is at the Grand Central Terminal which is a beautiful old fashion train station so it was lovely. We got there early walked right on which in NYC is a minor miracle but the NYC Marathon was today and the clocks went back this morning and yesterday was Halloween so all these things may have contributed to smaller crowds this morning. The kids loved it. They got a real kick morphing their faces onto the characters from the movie. My oldest DS got really excited and started yelling "Mom Sirius is in this movie thats so cool!!" Gary Oldman plays Bob Crachit/Tiny Tim and he is also Sirius Black in the Harry Potter movies and a big favorite in our house. Then my DH said "Oh look its Mommy's Boyfriend Mr. Darcy." (I love Pride & Prejudice read the book a zillion times and saw the movie tons. I confess I have a slight crush on Colin Firth (Darcy) in my fav verizon of P & P ) Colin Firth plays Scrooge's nephew Fred in the Disney Christmas Carol. We got to see some coming attractions for the movie and it looks awesome. The 3D effects are really cool
and seem to be better than other movies out now (ex. Cloudy w/ chance etc). It was really nice to see all the sets, the movie looks beautiful. You really had an opportunity to appreciate the art that these movies are. The scenes of Dickens London were so lovely. That had these beautiful old fashion frames and inside the frames were scenes from the movie in LCD. You really had a chance to appreciate all the work that went into making the film. They also had the costumes and interviews with the actors/actresses.
I am a huge fan of Christmas Carol its one of my favorite pieces of Literature ( yes along with Pride & Prejudice and Sense & Sensibility
) I think I have ever version of Christmas Carol ~ Alister Sims (of course),Mickey Mouse, Mr. Magoo (big fav especially the razzleberry dressing part) Jetsons, Flintstones, Muppets, Scrooged etc (I actually think that the Muppets is one of the better verisons) So this just got me all excited to see this new verison which opens Friday. So if you have an opportunity check out this classic story of redemption and love triumphing and as Tiny Tim said " Bless everyone"
