We got back from the 3/4 day cruise on the Dream and wow. This was our first cruise ever and I don't think we'll go to any other cruise lines. lol Our state room was spotless, our room hostess was awesome and friendly, always kept the room clean, bed made, etc. Our server staff was incredible, my wife has a gluten and dairy allergy and they helped her a lot and the chefs made her some incredible dinners, breakfast, and even made her an excellent lunch on castaway. We had one dinner at Palo as well, which was very good.

The ship was very clean, cleaner then the parks. The staff was very friendly and willing to help in any way. My and the ice cream machine became really good friends. lol, we saw each other on a daily basis.

We hit some rough seas going down to Nassau, and leaving castaway and it rained in the morning til about noon on castaway. We like most others went back to the ship after lunch and just hung out at the pools and aquaduck.

Overall we had a blast and looking to book our next one for our daughters sweet 16 in Jan.

Just my overall feedback of our first cruise . . . .

Great news...going on our first cruise ever on the Fantasy in May...can't wait.

great to hear such a positive report. obviously even with a weather issue you were smart enough not to let it spoil your cruise! cudos!!!!

Thanks for posting! We're anxiously awaiting our first cruise, and posts like this make my day! :yay:

Same here! Our first cruise will be in January on Dream! SO happy to hear that you loved it!!

The DCL Ships are plain amazing, hands down!

yeah they are, the wife and I said, if you got bored on board, then there's something wrong. They had something to do everyday and night for all ages. One thing that we laughed at ourselves during the cruise is that, I'm close to 40 and on the last sail day, we were at the pool deck eating ice cream watching ratatouille movie instead of drinking at the bar. Even on the cruise, disney makes you feel like a kid again. :)

Love this! I feel the same way about Disney. It's the only place our whole family can be kids together :)
And LOVE it!

We are going on our first ever cruise next month on the Magic. I can't hardly stand I am so excited!

you are now officially hooked!

We had the same thing happen 2 years ago and we are gold now

There are no other cruises around to match DCL....it is special unto itself with the Disney Magic and Pixie Dust. It not hard to get hooked...Especially watching the kids eyes and faces. My Wife always said she always went to WDW with 2 little kids and 1 big one......Now we take the grand kids (or we go just us) and she tells everyone the samething. .............and yes its more expensive, but to us worth it all.

Our first cruise was on the Dream and we fell madly in love, too. It's not hard to do. So glad your first cruising experience was a hit.

As the seasons of our lives evolve we find ourselves in search of different varying experiences but we'll always treasure those magical Disney memories (parks & cruises). I'm sure we'll be sprinkling a little Disney in every now & then no matter where our adventures may lead us. ;)

First cruises are fun. :)

The first sentence above...that's how my cousins feel, too.

The rest...we started on Royal and have gone back towards Royal. Everything but the name of the restaurant can be said for our cruises on Royal. And people who have sailed other lines might likely say the same thing. Disney is not the only ones that cleans the ships, makes the beds, helps with dietary issues, etc etc. On Royal there's Ben&Jerry's! Sure it's for an extra cost (by day 4 the ice cream guy made my son a milkshake using SEVEN scoops of ice cream) but there's nothing like that ice cream on the ships (and I have my doubts as to the quality of the future extra-cost ice cream places on DCL)

In fact, to us (vegetarian already, with ingredient issues with DH and DS), the food on Royal is far better than DCL.

So don't limit yourself. The things you found on DCL can be found elsewhere, if you feel like making other choices.

Really? The most kid-like I've felt in the last two years was while ice skating on Freedom of the Seas with DS. Or while visiting Universal Orlando.

I'm not saying you can't be kid-like at Disney, but there are other places to do it if you, like I mentioned, choose to find those places!

so happy to hear you had a great time!

i have been on several other cruise lines and believe me, nothing can compare to the disney magic!

Glad to hear you had a great time. But something to consider. As your daughter gets a bit older, don't count out other cruise lines. By the time my daughter was 15, she was ready to move on to a different cruise line, and she has loved every minute of it. Yes, the Dream is a great ship. But guess what? Meyer Werft makes a lot of great ships. It's not as if they made the Dream into a luxury liner and all their other builds are barges. They have also built (or are building) Ovation of the Seas, Anthem of the Seas, Quantum of the Seas, Reflection, Silhouette, Eclipse, Equinox, Bliss, Escape, Breakaway, Getaway, just to name a few. These are some pretty impressive ships with clean rooms and a staff that makes the beds. If you loved what you bought, that's great. It's always nice that you have a place to return. But after a single cruise, don't get too caught up in the idea that everything else is inferior. Every cruise line would love to have its first time customers capture the feeling that "nothing else compares". It's called "marketing". And as consumers, all too often, we believe it. Enjoy your next cruise, but keep an open mind!

Awesome! Getting ready for cruise #7 on the beautiful Wonder in October and can hardly wait! We started cruising with DCL when my daughter was a child. She is 21 now and still loves Disney and would probably revolt if we suggested another cruise line (which we won't because we love our DCL cruises!) We did her 14th birthday on the ship and it was really special. Have a wonderful time on your next cruise!

There is of course other lines. some put out good standard cruises, some better, we like RCCL. However none compare to the classic vessels and the Magic and pixie dust of DCL.

That's funny. We've been on a couple DCL cruises and one Royal Caribbean cruise. I'm vegan and so far have I found Disney treatment and food to be superior to Royal. I'm not saying Royal was rude or horrible or that people shouldn't give other cruise lines a try. But I can tell you we got home and immediately reserved our next Disney cruise without hesitation.
