Just got back from BCV

twinglefan, your comments about missing where you grew up reminded me of why I love the BCV. I used to live in Massachusetts, near Cape Cod, and I think the BCV remind me of there. I visited the BC about 10 years ago, right after they opened, and the theming didn't appeal to me then at all. Duh-I was still living near Cape Cod and at the time it probably reminded me of being home, not on vacation. Thanks for clearing up for me why they didn't appeal to me then but I love the place now.

On the same note, we live in Northern Minnesota which is much like the VWL. our home resort. My DH likes it because this "home away from home" is like being at home. I didn't want to live this far north in the first place, so my favorite DVC resort is not VWL. Don't tell my DH...

in BCV, there is one ice tray,
There are ice machines in the building, aren't there? At Vero there are ice machines in each of the garage of each of the vacation home complexes. It takes an elevator trip to retrieve it, but it's available for the huge parties with 50+ people we throw in our one bedroom. Takes lots of trips for ice to pack enough ice around the kegs to keep them cold for the huge non smoking parties.

So, I hope there are ice machines in BCV too.

50+ people huh and none of them smoke? ;)

LOL

webmomom, I want to thank you for reporting this to management. When we stayed at OKW this past November, we had a very nice, well kept unit. I believe that Disney takes good care of them, but I also believe that it is due to the watchful eyes of DVC members immediately reporting things that are not quite up to standards that keeps things in such good condition (and helps to maintain the value of DVC timeshare)... -DC

I agree that members need to keep an eye out for anything that is not up to our standards or our expectations & to report it. I had more than one CM at the OKW annual meeting last week say they want members to be happy. If a member has a problem, concern, whatever, then they need to vocalized it :).

My apologies for coming across the way I did. No harm meant. I assumed that you were in at least a one BR. While I am on the subject, I thought that all of the 1 and 2 BR units came with ice makers. If I'm not mistaken, isn't that listed in the handbook with the big list of included kitchen items? I could be wrong though. I just thought that a place as well known and regarded as the DVC they could have at least put ice makers in the freezers. But that's just what I think.

SweetP - No offense taken :p

In our two bedroom at BCV's there was only one ice tray - no ice maker. I too, thought that they all had ice makers. VB does.

Have a great day!

BWV also has an ice tray in the freezer, no icemaker. I try to remember to pack my Mickey ice tray as an extra!:D

SweetP No offense taken. Our last time was at BCV and we had a two bedroom with 8 people and ONE little ice tray. I also was surprised there was no one day set up there.

At any of the other resorts there always has been a start up of coffee. There was none. I had brought my own coffee, so there was no problem, I was just surpriised it was not there.

Hi I just got back from BCV today. I liked the resort but a couple of things. Whats up with the ROCK HARD BEDS. I woke up one morning with such a neck ache. The sofabeds are much softer. My hubby says when we stay there again it will be sleeping on the sofa bed. Also I did not like having ice all the time like at OKW. It helped that the ice was two doors down but it was a pain. That said I had a 2 bedroom #553 to be exact and it was the best room it had a great view of Illuminations and because of our small kids we saw Illuminations every nite.....

I love rock hard beds! LOL Really, I found it much more to my liking than my soft bed at home.

It was explained to me at BWV a couple of years ago that the fridges do not have icemakers because it is a "hotel" atmosphere with ice machines in the hallways. I love the much-larger refrigerators with ice makers at OKW. When we stayed at VWL last year, they had the same small fridges with 1 or 2 trays. I think probably DVD saves quite a bit by purchasing those small fridges with no ice makers rather than the nice ones like at OKW and Vero. I can't remember about HH, but I think they have icemakers in the 1BR and up. Anyone else? It seems the 'older' DVC resorts, like OKW and HH have larger applicances in general (think about the washer/dryers also).
