We just got back last night from out 5 day visit at the Beach Club Villas.

The rooms are beautiful. We had a two bedroom suite. We were on the second floor and where we were at night we could watch the fireworks from Epcot from the balcony.

When we first enter the room we did find empty beer bottles and some trash in the kitchen. I call housekeeping and they sent up a manager. She was so nice and was apolizing all over the place. I told her it was find, but I thought she would like to know. then not five minutes later, my DH found crayons scribblings all over the cabinet in the second bedroom that holds the tv. Actually there were some on the walls. I called again and got the manager again. they sent someone up right away to clean this. I just did not want them to think when we left that it was us that had done it. She ended up giving us maid service on the third day. that was really nice.

Since this was the first time we have ever stay at this resort, I really liked it. Our home resort is the BW and will always be our favorite, but this one is now our second choice always.

What bothers me the most about your report is that some guest would let their child draw all over with crayon. I guess maybe we should give them the benefit of the doubt, but honestly don't people watch their kids? Probably a CRO guest and not a DVC'er right;) . Secondly, i'm glad they fixed the situation but really Quality Controls should be in place to prevent garbage from being missed. I think it is right that you called- can't fix a problem if they don't know about it.

We were at BCV in October and stayed in a 2br unit. This was our first visit. I must admit the unit was not as clean as I would have expected - especially for Disney. The unit was already showing signs of wear. Specifically, the Master Bath room shower still had sand at the bottom and the bathroom and kitchen floors didn't look to have been cleaned -at all. The Kitchen table was also stickey.

I personally was embaressed because we had my mother in law along with and we really talked about BCV before we arrived. My wife and I spent about 1 hour cleaning and vaccuming the place on our own to get it clean.

We never called house keeping because it probably would have taken longer than the hour we took to get it done.

I was pleased that Disney sent us a customer satisfaction survey - which I filled out in detail.

If the room is in bad shape next time, I will definately call Management.

Kem says
but honestly don't people watch their kids?

While I'm not saying let your kids scribble all over the walls, I'm presuming the kids are sleeping in the 2nd bedroom and the adults in the master bedroom. Unless they have cameras set up to monitor their kids I fail to see how any parent can keep an eye on their offspring 24/7. IMHO you're being unrealistic to expect something like this never to happen, nor is it necessarily the fault of the parents. JMHO. I've found crayon on my walls at home and not always the day of or after the attack. I think maybe we should give them the benefit of the doubt.

I don't have too much of a problem with the parents not seeing the kids doing this, mine have done it as well, nor do I have a problem with the maid missing this, I can't imagine they look at the walls.

I do, however, have a problem with the empty beer bottles and the trash not being empty, there is no excuse for this.

On the first day I was there, I went to get a plate off the stack of plates in the cupboard and the plate had grease all over it. I don't imagine that a guest put the dirty plate back in the stack?

We're guilty!!!

DH was watching our kids (both under 4) in the living room one afternoon and fell asleep on the sofa. Well, he woke up to find crayon scribbles on the wall next to the balcony door. After scolding the kids, he spent half an hour scrubbing the wall.

I must say that I couldn't even tell after he was finished. Thank goodness there weren't MARKERS (for the autograph books) lying around!!! I think DH would have called maintenance for some paint in that case!!!

I am also guilty of not watcing my 2 year old every single second. That's why I only let him have washable crayons! It takes seconds to get off walls :D

webmomom,
I want to thank you for reporting this to management. When we stayed at OKW this past November, we had a very nice, well kept unit. I believe that Disney takes good care of them, but I also believe that it is due to the watchful eyes of DVC members immediately reporting things that are not quite up to standards that keeps things in such good condition (and helps to maintain the value of DVC timeshare)...

Webmomom, since you're members at BWV, I'd be especially interested in how you think BCV compares-quietness, convenience to Epcot and MGM, friendliness of CMs, service, theming, etc. Originally I'd been thinking of trying BCV and BWV, then comparing. However, after one visit to BCV, I loved it so much, I'm reluctant to try BWV, as I'd been planning to (as a new DVC member, I'd promised myself to try all the DVC resorts).

So much for the idea that members take better care of things than others, LOL.

Well apologies if I sounded harsh- maybe I'm too far past the crayon stage with my kids to remember what it was like. My kids certainly did tons of things around my house god knows:D , it's just when I am somewhere that is not home (as much as we like to call DVC home!), I am perhaps a little more vigilant about respecting the property. Now I don't have to worry about crayons, but I sure am challenged to keep a lid on the late night noise level created by my college aged kids!;)

When you mentioned that you found empty beer bottles and some trash in the kitchen, it crossed my mind that most probably the houskeeping staff did not even change the linens or the beddings in the unit. When I go to the DVC resort next year, I think I will wash the towels and the bed linens before I use them. I'll probably spray the entire unit with extra strength Lysol/disinfectant. Yuck!!

Simba's Mom.

We now with this trip stayed at all of the Dvc's on WDW .
Last year we stayed at the Wildnerness Lodge. I know I am going to get alot of screaming about this, but this is my opionion but I do not care for the Lodge. It is very dark and after you check in at the front desk the walk to the Villa's is very long. Since it was around xmas when we stayed there I was surprised by the fact that the Villas only had one tree in the lobby and nothing else. I will say that the wood art work was very interesting, but I did not care for the whole resort at all.

We have stayed at OKW. This is very cute. Individual buildings. It is spread out across alot of area. We were fortunate and had a room right across the street from the restaurant and front desk. i would not want some of the other rooms if I did not have a car to come up there. I also I know this is little, but the ice machines are located by the bus stops which were quite a distance from where our room was. We had our car with us, but it still was a pain to have to drive to get ice.

BCV Yes I liked them, even though we had that little problem. They are not so far away from the main building that you feel isolated, but far away enough not to be in the hustle and bustle of the main building. The theming is great. We actually found a little path to take coming back from Epcot that winds around the back and takes you to the Villas directly and you don't have to walk around to the front and through the lobby to get to the villas.

BWV That is still my favorite. I like the idea of being able to check in and go to my room from there. I realize that it was built that way and the Lodge and Beach were add on's. I have always had great survice at the BWV. We have stayed in studio's and one bedrooms there and they were all great. It is a quiet resort as is all of them. On one of our trips this year when we checked in they upgraded our room for us with a view. Have no idea why. We had a room on the first floor by the pool and still is was quiet.
WE also have had three different rooms that either faceing the Boardwalk or the Courtyard on the Boardwalk and once you closed the doors you cannot hear what is going on outside

Convience to Epcot and MGM is about the same

I hope this answers your questions and if you have anymore I will galdly answer them for you if I can

ZEBRA/ Honestly the towels and sheets had the smell of freshly washed and dried. They also looked that way, especially the towels. I have read on the boards here about this happening, but when we went to bed the sheets had the aroma of freshly washed and crispness they get when they are washed and dried.

I could see where they missed the crayons because when you looked at the door from the front it was hard to see. My DH saw them because the sun was shinning in and he noticed it from a side view. If you are there cleaning they probably did not notice. Now I know this is not excuse as they should look for something like this but I could understand. I called housekeeping because I did not want to be held responsible for this when we left.

The trash no there was no excuse for that. that was being just lazy and not opening doors.

Thanks a lot webmomom, I really appreciate your insights into all the resorts. And I won't yell about your opinion of VWL-although we bought there, and really expected to love it, our first trip there left us with no desire to go back. We were very surprised at our reactions, too.

I think it's a good idea to try all the resorts. For example: I'm pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed Vero for Thanksgiving....didn't expect to like it so much. I stayed at the Beach Club in a regular room before purchasing with DVC and loved it....but after trying it last week (see my report) I probably won't stay there again. While it is a class A resort and top notch, it's not for me. I wouldn't have know if I hadn't tried it. Same with BWV. VWL is a fav. ( and our home resort) and OKW. When I went over to VWL last week to check on it....:) the lobby took my breath away. And I've stayed there before! I just love it. I'm planning on trying the new resorts that are being built. You never know when you'll find a new favorite!

It's been said before that that's why DVC is so great; it has something for everyone. Take a little tour of each resort on your next trip if you are thinking of buying....get a feel for the layout and pool(s) before staying there. Walk to Epcot and check out the boat service. That is the best part of staying at the Epcot resorts....the walk to and from the park is so convenient.

I spoke with a wonderful lady at Vero about VWL and other resorts, and she lives in a woodsy area so doesn't care for the feel of VWL. She finds it dark and boring. I live close to the ocean and miss the mountains upstate where I grew up, so it's very appealing to me. I enjoy the exclusive and isolated feeling...something I miss if staying at the BCV or BWV area....always connected to other resorts and restaurants.....and people always walking by and through. Aside from the sandcastles and costumes that the workers wear at BCV, the decor is clean and pastel, but doesn't connect me with anything further. It's all about what feels good to us, after all, we're using our hard earned money to go away on vacation and we should love where we stay..... I'm loving DVC in any case and appreciate the great source of information these boards provide.

Just my two cents regarding the poster who complained about having to get in their car to get ice. Uh, Hello? Don't you have a freezer in your room with an ice maker and/or ice cube trays? Unless you needed ice as soon as you walked in your room, you would be able to turn on the maker or fill the trays.

Regarding ice--what surprised me when I stayed at BCV (which I thoroughly enjoyed) was that the refrigerators only had two little trays for ice. In OKW (my absolute favorite resort) the "fridge" has an ice maker. For some reason, I just assumed all the DVC appliances would have similar features. Maybe the fact that the BCV fridge is smaller has something to do with it.

twinglefam - I believe that was me at Vero, lol. Did you get your greyhound?

sweetp267 - Uh - Hello, right back at ya. When we are finally allowed to check in our room, I look forward to a nice glass of wine with ICE. So Yes indeed, an ice machine is important to us. Plus the fact, that in BCV, there is one ice tray, and we had 7 people, hmmm, I know I enjoy more than one or two cubes in my drinks.

There seems to be many threads recently on the housekeeping facets of BCV's - or lack thereof. Didn't I read once that DVC reads these boards?

SWEETP267 ... I was the one complaing about the ice. First of all we had a studio and that has a small ref. it fits under the counter. Secondly, we had stopped to buy selzter and wanted to have a glass when we entered our room. Thirdly, we had brought some things that were in big containers and would not fit into the ref, so we needed ice to keep the items cold. Even thought in the other resort the ice machine in downnnnnn the long halls we did not have to leave and drive to get it. We would not have minded if there were ice machines located outside out resort, but such a long way to get ice.

I would go back to OKW again, but this time I would know to go get ice on our way in.
