Just got back from AKV - addicted to Zebra Domes....HELP!!!

Just got back from a wonderful 10 day trip to AKV! Wow, it was so much fun to be there for 10 days!!

Anyway, I now have a serious addiction to Zebra Domes. I was putting down at least 5 a night after getting back to the room from the parks. Now I don't know what to do

Does anybody know if any of the Disney recipe books have an official recipe for Zebra domes?

I would love to hear more we'll be at AKV in 9 sleeps!!! we are going up for the weekend for my b-day with Thursday night at VB b4 going to AKV.....I can not wait to have a ZEBRA DOMES I have been reading how gooood they are I'll have a few for you when we go....

These are not an easy dessert to just whip up, but if you're an experienced baker you could probably do it. You can find Amarula in liquor stores. I've seen it at one of my local stores. Good luck. If you make them please post how they turn out.

I've tried them - they're good (would be better with a hard white chocolate shell). Unfortunately, the African liquor in them seems to be the only thing in this world I'm deathly allergic to.

The home made version doesn't use it - I should try baking up a batch ... and hiding them

I agree, they are very yummy! I am sure that If I tried to make a batch I would completly screw it up I guess we will just have to plan a trip back soon!

Also addicted to Zebra Domes. I think we should start a petition to have them offered somewhere in the AK Park. On a previous visit, I took the bus over to the Lodge for lunch, just to get some ZDs at Mara (altho I might not have if the Flame Tree had been open). I asked at Guest Services in the Park, and am not sure they even knew what I was talking about. I couldn't finish a whole pack at once, and they got a little melty in their plastic box when I got back to AK -- but they still tasted yummy. Guess they're one of those "you either get it, or you don't" things (like WDW itself) -- but there are lots of things that other people like to eat, that I don't, so I can understand that. As long as there are enough of us who want them, so they keep making them!

Wow -- complicated expensive recipe -- apparently with raw egg yolks, hmmm. Don't think I've ever noticed the coffee bean in the middle. Have to give some thought to a way to modify this to get a similar flavor with much less work.

I'm useless when it comes to a recipe but I tried them for the 1st time last week based on everyone talking about them here.
I can officially say that I am addicted. OMG sooo good.

I didn't like the zebra domes but I DID fall in love with the Amarula liquor. It was served at night in concierge at AKL. We were able to find it at our local liquor store at home so I have a bottle of it in my refrigerator right now.

I got a free zebra dome when I took the Jiko/Boma tour at Jambo. It didn't particularly appeal to me. Mickey Bars are my favorite dessert!
