I flew out to Phoenix, where my mom lives, on Thursday to surprise her with a mom/daughter trip to Disneyland. We drove out to Anaheim on Friday and returned on Sunday. Quick trip but it was worth it. We didn't have a hotel reservation either, but were able to get a room at the Hilton Garden Inn on Harbor Blvd for a decent rate. The parks were very crowded, I thought. We were still able to ride several rides. On Saturday we rode, Jungle Cruise, Pirates, Winnie the Pooh, Haunted Mansion, Riverboat(we got to drive the boat!!), Train and Monorail. We arrived around 8am and left at 12noon, it was getting really hot and really crowded. We went back to DCA in the evening and rode Soarin with a fast pass and then watch the Electrical Parade, then rode Monsters and Muppets before heading back over to DL, I wanted to ride Space but the line was way too long, I thought they would have a single rider line but no such luck, so we headed back to the hotel. On Sunday we rode, Snow White, Dumbo, Storybook boats, Teacups, Matterhorn and watched the 1st 50 years before heading back to Phoenix. My mom was so surprised and we had a great time. We found a great german restaurant off of Ball Road if anyone is interested. My mom is from Germany and we found it to be very authentic.

Sounds like a fun trip! What was the name of the German restaurant? What did you order?

sounds like a fun trip. What a nice daughter you are!!

I think the restaurant is called "Jaeger Haus"? If so, the German lemon pancake for breakfast is to DIE for!

The name of the restaurant is Loreley, also known as the Phoenix Club. It is off of Ball road, past Hwy 57. Not very far at all!!

We ate there twice it was so good. The first night we ate in the dining room for dinner and I had the schnitzel with veggies and spaetzle. My mom had the sausage plate with bratwurst, leberkase and polish sausage with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes. She loved the sauerkraut, I'm not a big fan though! The next day for lunch we ate in the bierstub (bar) and we both had the leberkase, I had fried potatoes and my mom had, you guessed it, sauerkraut. The prices were reasonable I thought too. Oh, and the black forest cake was to die for  Their website is www.thephoenixclub.com

Thanks so much for the restaurant tip! We spent a lot of years in Germany and are always looking for good German food. Another reason to plan a trip to Disneyland soon (like I need one :) )

Thanks for the German restaurant info! My mother is German & it is always fun to try new German restaurants!

We were there in March and tried Jager Haus. They had great German food and were very accommodating with our group of 12. Try the sauerbraten, it was very tasty. I'm pretty sure they are on Ball Road. They are a family owned restaurant and the owner (a nice German Lady) was really sweet to my dad. He loves German mustard and told her how much he liked hers and could he buy some to take home? She mad him up a pretty big batch of it for free!! :lovestruc My parents spent 2 or 3 years in Germany about 40 years ago and love good German food.
