Hello to all, I just returned from a great 4 nite stay at the Grand Californian! We left just before this week-ends big ABC soaps event. But I saw "Jackson Montgomery" from All My Children in the gift shop! Anyway I am happy to answer any questions any one has about the hotel or parks... Now I'm looking forward to our June trip to WDW. Just can't get enough Disney!!! Marilyn :)

Was this your first time to DCA and did you have a good time?

This was our second trip. We were at DCA/DL last year during Easter break. We had agreat time...all I can say is thank God for fast pass. We used it alot and saved alot of time. This Easter week was definately more crowded at both parks than it was last year. We loved the millionaire show..alot of fun but too short at just 1/2 hour.

Hey Marilyn,

Glad you had a good time...We are going next week and I wanted to know what time you were able to get into disneyland? Did they drop the ropes at 9:00 am or one hour earlier at 8:00am?

Thanks for you help.

Please tell me how you liked the Grand Californian. Would you recommend it? My husband and I are trying to decide which hotel to stay at...

Thanks.

The scheduled opening time for DL was 8am. We were allowed onto mainstreet before then but the ropes at the end of main street were promptly dropped at 8. The same was true for DCA. The park opens at 10am but you are allowed in earlier in the main area. The ropes dropped in front of Grizzly Run at 10am and Hollywood Backlot at 11am. To answer the question about The Grand Californian...yes I highly reccommend this hotel. The proximity to parks and Downtown Disney were great. Even though Paradise Pier is very close and has its own entrance to DCA it is still a farther walk to everywhere else. We were able to change clothes after the water raft ride, take breaks or just unload souvenirs at the hotel without feeling like we were "wasting" fun time. It was great. Napa Rose was awesome but pricey. Storytellers cafe was also good but always very very crowded so eat at "off" times. The weather was a bit too overcast and cool to make much use of the pools but they are fun. One has a decent twisting slide. I would definately go again but only if I could go during a less costly time. During Easter our city view (standard) king bed with sofa sleeper was $250 a nite plus tax and resort fee. I've been to DL and WDW and I have never paid this much for a room but for a splurge it's worth it! Have a great time! Marilyn:)
