Just got back Early Sunday morning from WDW. Took our DDs age 3 1/2, and twins 16 months. We had a wonderful time. We just took the days at our children's pace. We used a Graco double-wide stroller with a lot of basket room underneath. It has enough room for our backpack, diaper bag, two water bottles, and Video camera case.

Here's what we did each day with our children.

Sunday 5/13 (Mother's DaY) - Checked into Old Key West at 10:00 am. They had a 2 bedroom villa ready for us on the first floor of building 49. Arrived at Epcot around 11:00 am. Got flowers and free photo for mother's day. We had a late lunch at LeCellier. Twins had naps in the stroller. When 3 year old wanted to nap, she just took one of the twins spaces in the stroller. The kids played on the playground area between Japan and American while the Tapestry of Nations parade was going on. Thus, we got to see TON twice since that is where one begins and one ends. Kids played on the lighted sidewalks in Future World at dusk. Finally did spaceship Earth on the way out around 8:30 pm. Both twins fell asleep during the ride.

Monday 5/14 - Non-Park Day. Breakfast at Chef Mickeys at 11:00 am. Took a monorail ride around the lagoon. Went shopping and swimming in the afternoon. Dinner at Port Orleans Riverside food court and toured the resort.

Tuesday 5/15 - Magic Kingdom all day. Arrived at the rope drop. Did Dumbo and Cinderella's Carrousel then had breakfast with the Princesses in Cinderella's Castle at 10:00 am. After breakfast we spent the rest of the morning and early afternoon in Mickey's Toontown Fair. Our 3 year old did Goofy's Barnstormer for the first time. The twins played in the playground then napped in their strollers. We got a fastpass for Pooh at 2:30 pm. Everyone enjoyed the Pooh ride. After that we went into the Liberty Square and Frontierland areas and we all did the Haunted Mansion then watched the afternoon parade. Next DW and I took turns with the three year old on Splash Mountain and the Thunder Mountain Railroad. She was tall enough to ride and loved these two rides. She got to ride each one twice. The twins played on the tot playground at the exit to Splash Mountain while we took turns on that ride. We did an early dinner at Pecos Bills then went on Pirates and next to the Jungle Cruise before calling it a day. We left the Park about 30 minutes before closing to beat the crowd out.

Wednesday 5/16 - Non-Park Day. Pooh Breakfast at Olivia's in Old Key West. Toured Polynesian and Grand Floridian Resorts. Took it easy back at our resort. Dinner Offsite at Kobe Japanese Steakhouse.

Thursday 5/17 - After breakfast in our villa we went to the Animal Kingdom in the Morning. We did the safari first then the walking tour just outside the safari. The kids all loved the animals. Next we went to the tree of life to see It's Tough to be a Bug. Next we went to Dinoland and DW did the Dinosaur ride with the 3 year old. She loves dinosaurs. Then 3 year old DD and my DW went to the Boneyard to play while the twins took a nap. Next we ate lunch at the Flame Tree BBQ (YUM!). After lunch we did a little shopping then went to MGM for the rest of the day. At MGM we did Bear in the Big Blue House, Little Mermaid Show. Had Fantasmic Dinner Package dinner at Hollywood and Vine, kids played in the Honey I Shrunk the Kids playground. DW took 3 year old DD and did the Tower of Terror. Both liked that as well. Then DW and I took turns and did Rock 'n Roller Coaster without the kids. Finally we went and watched the 9:00 Fantasmic show before returning back to our resort.

Friday 5/18 - Breakfast in our villa. Morning at Epcot to send Emails with our photo to family and other Innoventions exhibits. We took the leisurely boat ride over to MGM and did the Great Movie Ride, the playground again, some character visits and Lunched at the Sci-Fi Cafe before taking the boat back to Epcot to catch the Monorail over to the Magic Kingdom for the rest of the afternoon and evening. We took our time at the Magic Kingdom and did Dinner at Columbia Harbour House, the Carrousel, Mickeys Toontown Fair, the Walt Disney Railroad, Buzz Lightyear, TTA, Spectromagic and the evening fireworks.

Saturday 5/19 - Breakfast at Boma (another YUM!!) Toured the Animal Kingdom Lodge a little. The Smoke was just took much so we didn't go outside for very long. We went back to our resort and packed, checked out, then spent the rest of the afternoon driving around WDW looking at all the resorts before our 7:50 pm. flight. The flight was delayed more than an hour because of storms between Florida and our home so we didn't get back home until after midnight.

This was a full week with our kids. I just thought some may want to know how we handled WDW with our young children. Everyone had naps during the day and they didn't get too cranky. I believe everyone enjoyed themselved because we took our time, walked slowly, didn't try to do everything and tried to stay rested.

Any questions? I'm sure I left out many things.

Sounds like you had a great trip!

How scared was your 3 year old with Splash Mountain. Was it a situation of once they got on the ride they were ok- or did you explain the drop ahead of time?

I have a 3 1/2 year old nephew who I am going with in 2 weeks.

Thanks!

We showed her the drop before she got in line. She had such a good time on Splash Mountain that she went again right away as my wife and I used baby swap because of the twins. We let her choose whether or not she wanted to try it since she was tall enough.

Musical2,

I have a question for you, did you think that it was difficult traveling with the 3 kids? We are planning a trip for 2003, our kids at that time will be one 4 year old and almost 3 year old twins. Did you have extra help or was it just you and spouse? I am wondering how we will do it, we are out number by kids!!

Bart, I can't believe all the things your 3 y.o. did! I have a 6, 4, and (almost) 3 yr old and they are terrified of Dinosaur, It's Tough to Be a Bug, and I wouldn't even think of taking them in the Haunted Mansion! My dd cried during the Little Mermaid (we think she has a sensory input disorder, though). There are so many things that we can't do because of their fears, so I was surprised at how many things you were able to do! Bravo!

BWVDenise, Well she might not be afraid of the rides since she is a bit adventuresome, but she is a bit wary of fireworks. This time she at least watched half until one of the loudest ones got her to bury her head in her mothers shoulder.

wdisneyaholic, It wasn't all a bed of roses with three young ones. The 16 month old twins had a hard time before the plane took off. But they settled down and went to sleep once the plane got moving. To be honest we did have our AuPair along, but she was on vacation and not working. Most of the time the AuPair was off doing her own thing. It's not bad with three young ones. Just make sure they have enough rest time, time out of the stroller, are kept well watered, and you know their limits. We too are planning our next Disney vacation for December 2002 when the oldest is 5 1/2 and the twins will be just shy of 3 years old. I think it will be easier then. If you can have fun with your kids at home you can have fun with them at Disney World. The plane ride should be easier at that age too, I hope.
