Dining reviews 10/9 -10/14
We just got back yesterday from a GREAT trip to the world, my DBF and I were with a large group, but Ill just be reviewing the food the two of us had. Also we were on the dining plan. Here we go
Wolfgang Puck Express
We both had the tortilla soup, and it was excellent. Not your typical tortilla soup. The goat cheese really added to the flavor and my DBF does not like goat cheese but he loved it in the soup!
-I had the Young Spinach Salad. I thought it was really good with the apples and pecans, but I couldnt finish it because I was to full from the soup!
-DBF had the Four Cheese Macaroni. I had read some good reviews of it on here, so I thought he would like it. It really was delish!
The next day we started at Epcot. We didnt do a breakfast or lunch because we wanted to sample all the Food & Wine Festival items! Some of the really good things we had over the course of 2 days at Epcot were:
Greece: Greek Salad was soooo good! The feta cheese was so fresh, I got this twice.
Mexico: The chorizo quesadilla was excellent!
Japan: Spicy tuna rolls was prob the best sushi I have had!
Ireland: DBF got the potato pancake which he like a lot. I thought it was good but kind of heavy.
Italy: The spinach lasagna was really good, and I also got a glass of Rosa Regale, which was also good!
We will definitely be going back next year!!!
Restaurant Marrakesh for dinner
Appetizer:
Me- Chicken Bastilla, it had a really interesting taste, it was good but I didnt love it.
DBF Beef Brewat Rolls, these were really good! I liked them a lot better than the chicken bastilla.
Entrée:
Me- Chicken Kebabs, I thought they were really tasty! The chicken was seasoned really nice and the rice was really good too.
DBF Shish Kebabs were also really good. The beef was very tender, and whatever the marinade was great.
Dessert:
I could barely eat anymore by this time, but I got the Marrakesh Delight, fruit in orange blossom water and mint ice cream on top. It was really good but I couldnt enjoy since I was so full. DBF got the Moroccan symphony, which was assorted pastries. He like them but he was stuffed as well.
The next night we ate at Epcot again with our group of 12 people at
San Angel Inn
I know this place gets bad reviews all the time, which I can see why, but overall it was ok. We had a big group, and only had to wait 5 minutes to be seated. The food came fast, we were in and out pretty quick. We pretty much just went there for the atmosphere, if we werent on the dining plan, I probably would have skipped it.
Appetizer
Me: I had the tortilla soup because it had avocado and I love them! It was good, but I like the one at Wolfgang Puck Express more!
DBF: He had the corn chowder, which to me was ok, he said it was decent.
Entrée
Me: Puntas de Filete- They were beef tenderloin tips which I thought were pretty good.
DBF: Plato Mexicano A lot of people in our group got this and they like it but he beef sirloin on everyones plate was way overdone. Our waiter asked how everyone wanted it cooked, but they all pretty much got the same steak, so that was disappointing.
Dessert:
We both ordered the flan, which I gave to someone else in our group; I didnt really like any of the dessert selections. The flan got a good review, so if you like flan, go for it.
The next day was Magic Kingdom so we started with breakfast at
1900 Park Fare
I have always been a fan of this breakfast buffet and everyone really enjoyed it. I thought the selection was good. I really enjoyed the breakfast pizza at the kids station.
Also the character interaction was great!
We then did a late dinner at the
Crystal Palace
I have never been there for the dinner buffet, and we all thought it was great! All the food was fresh, the dessert selection was good, and we had a great waiter! My favorite thing was probably the veggie pasta, but really everything was good! Again the characters were great!
Next day lunch @
Sci-Fi Dine in Theater
OK, this was the worst dining experience of the trip. Again it was a group of 12, and we waiting about 25 minutes to sit. Our group was in 2 cars right next to each other.
Appetizers: I got the spinach and artichoke which was good, nothing special though. DBF got the BLT soup which he said was ok as well.
Entrée: I had half the smoked turkey sandwich and half the Italian grilled chicken sandwich ( I split with a friend). I got the turkey sandwich because it had an avocado mayo which they forgot to put on. The Italian chicken sandwich was supposed to have bruschetta, which they forgot. My DBF got the Angus burger which was cooked medium rare(not what he ordered) and some other friends ordered the same thing and they forgot to put cheese on it, and they said the burger was gross! Our waitress was really nice, and I realize none of this was her fault, but all of the mix ups and things being sent back made the lunch take almost 3 hours!!!!! It really messed up out day at MGM, esp. since everything revolves around show times! This was another place where we just went for the atmosphere, and it just turned into a mess!
***The good thing was that the manager did come out and apologize and gave us a fast pass to use on any ride!
That night we had dinner at
Mama Melrose
This really made up for our lunch! I have been here before, but I really loved the food this time.
Appetizer: I got the fried calamari, which were soooo good! DBF got the artisan breads and spreads which was also amazing.
Entrée: I got the spaghetti fra diavolo. I loved it! I was really in the mood for seafood and the clams and mussels were so good and the spaghetti delicious in the spicy marinara. DBF got the pork marsala, which he really loved! It was so tender and flavorful!
Dessert: I love tiramisu and it was really good! DBF got the chocolate gelato, which also was good!
The next day at Animal Kingdom we, only had time for a quick lunch since we were flying out so we stopped at
Pizzafari
We got a cheese pizza, and the chicken parm sandwich. The sandwich was surprisingly good, but IMO the pizza was gross. DBF didnt like it either, it was too doughy. But I guess we might be spoiled since we are used to New York pizza!
