We just got back from our 5 1/2 day trip to DLR & DCA. What a lot of fun we had! I'm going to do a proper trip report once I can upload photos to photo bucket, but just a few thoughts to help any who are coming this month:

1. If this is your first time and you want to do a tour - I highly suggest at least the Welcome to Disney tour - do it on the day that you have NOT scheduled for your MHP if you're going. I mashed a ton of stuff on Monday and in retrospect, should have done the tour on Monday (only day it was offered), and the MHP on the Wednesday.

2. If you MUST stay at the resort, I suggest the GCH. PPH was great, don't get me wrong, but we walked through GCH every day. Every. Day. It was a 20 minute walk with the kids in tow (and my bad leg), so the next time we go, DH wants to stay at GCH so we can watch fireworks from our balcony (hahah, he has NO idea how much it costs, btw), and I'd rather stay at the HoJo or someplace near like that just to cut down on the walking/walking/walking/walking... blah.

3. Whatever you think you'll need for food - double it.

4. Whatever you think you'll need for time - double it.

5. The Disney App is awesome! Download it and use it. Had all the character times bang on (except was no help in finding Mary and Bert once they wandered off), as well as wait times for rides.

Ok, that's it for now. I'm so looking forward to doing a good Trip Report for you all. You were all SO much help to me. DH said we'll go back in 5 years. I'm planning on hittin' it next year for my 50th - without kids! HA!

Sounds like an awesome trip!

I hear you about getting back home and wanting go back to Disneyland right away. We got back last week and I'm so ready to go back right now! If I could board a plane and leave right now for Disneyland, I would sooo do it!

Glad you had a good trip, Disneyland is addicting once you go you want to keep going back. I liked tips 4 and 5 you gave, it is so true!

We also ended up walking through the GCH every day to and from the parks and when our trip was over, I was yearning to stay at the GCH next time. Glad you had such a great time!

...DH's then notice the $500/nt pricetag on GCH and suddenly realize the walk is just fine. *chuckle*

I agree about PP...for us, it's not worth it. The walk is long and just does not feel like we are on Disney property. DLH was great for us though. We used the monorail and it saved us time. I prefer to stay across the street if I can't stay at DLH.

That's funny your DH wants to stay at GCH now. The first time I took my DH about 7 yrs ago he insisted on staying off-property and after that trip we've ONLY stayed at GCH - he doesn't care what the cost is. :)

May I ask what FP's you got on your tour?

Can you tell me a little about the tour?

The tour was the Welcome to Disneyland Tour. They only run them on Mondays. It was $25/person and from that we received:

3 hours immersed in DCA and DLR;
Immediate tour rides on Ariel and then Pirates (!);
FP for anytime for Indy and Space Mountain;
Your choice of VIP seating at either MMM or Aladdin - we were going to Aladdin the next day anyway, so they gave us the VIP area for that day - your choice of times for the show;
A DL pin;
FP for WOC (can't remember if it was for Blue seating or VIP, sorry. We gave ours away because we were having a WOC lunch at WCT the next day anyway);
a 20 minute break at DCA before heading back over to DLR.

We spent about an hour and a half at DCA, walking around and learning about the various 'lands' there as well as PP+ photographers, places to eat, the First Aid space (beside the Chamber of Commerce building) and the themes of each place.

Then we did the same over at DLR. It was long and hot - started at 10am and went till 1 - but it was lovely. Learned TONS and it was great for my DH who likes to get his feet under him first before heading in. This way he had a better idea of what was where and the history of the place.

Thank you very much. I thought there was a price difference in the tours

6. Whatever you think you need for souvenirs, triple it.

As a sidenote, I don't Hojo's is closer than PPH. We stayed there once (Hojo's) and then at GCH, and that convenience really spoils you! I used an orbitz 25% off promo code the first time and the price was a lot more manageable.
