Just got back and heard a couple of interesting rumors from CMs

He also told us that the one hotel had been built so that if this ever happened it could accomodate the monorail.
That is another rumor that has been around for years.
I have read here that the square areas actually hold conference rooms.
The only fictional animal in the AK logo is the middle dragon creature. Which is intersting too since in the Chinese Zodiac, the dragon is the only fictional creature too.
The Disney middle dragon was supposedly the tie into Beastly Kingdom.

I have to agree. I know someone who was involved in the movement to stop Disney. He was full of rhetoric about "Disnified history" and "desecration of historic landmarks." I thought he was full of something else as well. Now, hearing that the sacred landmarks are housing and strip malls, I'm sure of it.

I'm not sure there's much difference between Disney's version of history and strip malls. Both bear as much of a relation to the real thing as, say, McDonald's food to a hamburger.

Once upon a time, there were plans to build a fourth park, an "Animal Park" that would include themed lands, one of which was the "Mythical Animals". The first illustrations for AK showed the area that included unicorns, dragons and griffins. I don't know that that plan has ever been scrapped, just hasn't happened yet.

At that same time, there were plans for a fifth theme park that was being called the "Steel Park", referring to the fact that it would have several steel roller coasters.

But that was back then, and this is now. Plans are constantly changing and the bottom line is always money.

I would think Disney World execs would be most receptive to a modified, smaller version of the very successful DisneySea at Tokyo. I don't think that is likely to happen any time soon.

It educates us that Tarzan does, in fact, rock.

Thank you Sapiendut! I have been having a cruddy week, but when I read your short little post I laughed out loud. Thank you for reminding me to smile. :goodvibes

I love all rumors everyone...keep them coming! Even if they never pan out, it's interesting to hear all the ideas that float around Disney.

Tarzan Rocks also educates on the effects of excessive noise on the human ear!

The Camp Mickey and Minnie area was supposed to the location for the Beastly Kingdom; Disney's decision to locate Expedition Evervest in Asia (instead of that area) seems to indicate that Beastly Kingdom is back on the back burner.
The Beastly Kindom was supposed to be anchored by an E-ticket type coaster which is obviously what EE is. Hester and Chester's carnival area was supposed to be a temporary fix to the lack of attractions; but surveys indicate that people are happy with those 2 rather inexpensive off the shelf rides, so they'll probably become permanent.

The real pity of the Chester/Hester area is that it's the type of "carny" atmosphere that Walt Disney disliked and wanted to avoid at his park{s}. And to leave it there because people "like" it, is a shame because they are willing to pay $60 a day to get into a park that has as one of it's major themed areas, a cheap, carnival-like venue. Walt's gotta be spinning once again, in his grave.

Let US/IOA have their place in the market.

If Disney adds a thrill park, undoubtedly the hopper ticket price will rise accordingly. If you are a family with young children - read less then 48 inches - would you like paying for a park you'll have no use for ?

As Chuck said, the existing parks need additions long before another park is built. Disney can easily add some teen friendly rides to AK and MGM.

Well what they could do is have it as a extension option like the water parks.. so you didnt have to buy it. .but a thrill park would be great..parents-epcot

teens-thrill
kids-Mk all in one hotel

I completely agree with you. It would be oh so very nice if you never had to leave Disney property to get your thrills.

Very interesting indeed, but most likely just concepts at this point. Although I have haerd of the thrill rides park for quite sometime.

I too would LOVE to see a History Park. I was so upset when they stopped the plans for the Virginia park.

\As for the Swan and Dolphin, I remember reading a long time ago that Disney gave a long term lease for these hotels and Eisner would love to cancel. \\QUOTE]

You're exactly right about the long term lease for the Swan and Dolphin (and for the other hotels for that matter)...it was for 99 years.

Which other hotels would have to have a lease? Would that mean the hotels by Downtown Disney?

That is so cool that they are building a park with just thrill rides. Does anybody know when it will open? :cool1:

Before we go ahead with theme park rides lets finish building are two new ship. :badpc: pirate:

When I heard Al Weiss (president of WDW) speak to a group of cast members in 2002, he said that WDW would never build a "thrill ride park." He said that IOA is a "teen" park, and that does not fit into the Disney goal of a family park.

Obviously, this doesn't mean that things won't change or that a park of that sort is not in the planning. IMHO, I would like to see them add an E-ticket here or there in the existing parks. EE is a start at DAK, but it needs more. So does WS at Epcot.

SM, BTM, SPM, TOT, RNR, MS, TT, EE. Throw in other E tickets like Soaring, Dinosaur, HM, POTC, plus a gazillion family and kids rides, who says you ever have to leave WDW.

My family LOVES the thrill rides. I'm 41, my daughter is 17... two years ago I renamed my niece (then 9) "my little coaster buddy".

We've been 10 times and plan to return for many years to come (DVC)... we usually "drag" other family members along. We've noticed that not all families that visit WDW include toddlers and want to ride Dumbo... kids do grow up eventually and their taste in rides change... not all teens enjoy thrills (we found out with my cousin). I like having lots of options to fit my group and mood. We would enjoy a park with a high thrill quotient.
