So we just arrived back in COLD Michigan yesterday afternoon after spending a glorious 11 nights at the Fort! We're already planning our next trip in March or April of 2011 (Easter will be April 24th, 2011).
SewBzzzy and Beagles - how long of a drive is it to FW from Michigan pulling a trailer? We have a 5th wheel and I really want to plan a trip down but when we go will depend on how much time we need to allow for driving.
Thanks!
Thanks! Now I just need to decide when to go...![]()
We drive from Northern Il and it takes about 20 hr pulling a trailer. We leave 2-3 am and dirve until we get to Valdosta GA. From there it's an easy drive to the FortSewBzzzy and Beagles - how long of a drive is it to FW from Michigan pulling a trailer? We drive down in a motorhome now, but we've driven it with a pop-up and trailer in the past. Depending on the number of stops and the ages of your children (from mid-Michigan), it'll take about 23 to 25 hours. Like I said, much depends on the number and length of your stops for gas, eating, etc. When traveling in the motorhome, we are able to use our own restroom and make sandwiches on the road - which saves time. We've driven straight through before - 24 hours without stopping - but we're getting too old for that now. This year, we split it up into 2-1/2 days down and 2-1/2 days back because we were traveling with a 10 month old grandaughter.
However, our favorite way to do it is leave Michigan at 6:00 or 7:00 p.m., drive through the night and arrive at Valdosta in the early afternoon. We spend the night there at Eagles Roost or the KOA, then continue on for the additional 4 hours or so the next morning.
Hope that helps!
