Just Got An Interesting Letter From The CR!

We're staying (or so we thought until now) on the 12th floor concierge Tower Club for five nights at the end of September. A letter arrived today from the CR informing us that we will be checked in upon arrival to the newly named "Atrium Club" on the 10th floor, and that our concierge room will be on the 10th floor as well.

We know from reading the boards that the 10th floor is partially closed right now for renovations. Reading between the lines in this letter, our best guess is that the 12th floor will be closed for renovations while we're there, and that this is the CR trying to set up a makeshift concierge on the 10th while that's going on. If we end up with a newly renovated room with a MK view, we'll have no complaints whatsoever, but who knows?

Anyone have any thoughts or know something about this particular situation?

Wow! we're checking in to the 12th floor in 2 weeks. I've read that the 10th floor was closed off right now, but haven't heard anything from IPO about us being moved. Anyone else have any info?

Interesting News!

Half of the 10th Floor was indeed closed when I was there. So That's probably a clear sign that the 12th Floor will be under the process of being renovated the end of September.

Here's hoping you get a new room! :wizard:

Thanks! In fact, we were basing most of what we knew off of your reports from the trip you just came back from. (The value of good reporting and information! :) ) DW wonders if there's going to be a permanent "light concierge" setup on the 10th floor, and that this is not a temporary thing. If it is temporary, why not use the 11th floor instead of the tenth?

I was wondering the same thing actually, after I read your original post.

Maybe once the Renovations are completed, 10th and above will all be some form of concierge?? Interesting Concept.

Where in MA are you from?

Thanks for your on site trip reports!

We are in Brookline, Ma. just outside of Boston. Noticed that all the replies to our query were from Mass folks!

A friend of mine just got back on Mon. They did a Wishes cruise last week and their driver told them that one whole wing of the CR was closed right now and will be turned into DVC.....I hadn't heard that anywhere, has anyone else? Last I heard they were closing one wing at a time to do a total remodel, but that's the first I've heard of it becoming "villas" for DVC. Their driver also told them that she only works twice a week, so I guess we should consider the source too....

Before I left I was under the impression that the S.W. was Closed Completely.

But the first night I was in a S.W. room, and it looked like it was pretty busy w/ Vacationers.

So maybe the North Wing is Closed.

That's the first I've heard of one of the Wings becoming Villas for DVC Members.

Someone needs to tell Jeff that that's just a rumor.

I just posted the same question on www.wdwmagic.com and someone answered me back that one wing will be renovated and stay regular rooms, while the other is being renovated into DVC. They also said that Chef Mickey's will take over the space now occupied by Concourse Steakhouse and Outer Rim Bar, and those will be relocated to where food and fun is now...also, the driver was a girl. ;)

If they remove the Arcade, I won't be a happy camper. I love that Arcade.

It does make sense to expand Chef Mickey's though. I tried to just "walk in" last week and the wait was almost 3hrs at 6pm

this has been a rumor fir awhile i remember i had even started a thread baout it
most thought it wouldnot happen but that they were just re doing the wings

Does anyone know when the 14th floor will be remodelled, or is it already done?

I just opened the same letter! I guess there is no more Tower Club. Now it's called Atrium Club and it's on the 10th floor. Hmmmmm.......I'm guessing that it's temporary while the 12th floor is being renovated. Oh well......the 10th floor is great too!

When i was riding the monorail like 2 weeks ago, they had the green things around the building but I saw tons of towels hanging from balconies and stuff. But yet there was the big dump thingy's all around.

Hmmmm.....

Erinz, who according to her signature, is not going until 12/3-12/12 gets the same letter that we did for our upcoming CR stay 9/26-10/1. That's at least a period of eight weeks, and maybe longer if either of us is not the first or last week of the renovation.

I'm definitely thinking that this is not a temporary move, and a new permanent concierge floor (or section of the 10th floor) is being established. It's hard to think that a renovation of one floor is going to take more than two months, especially since Disney has a financial interest in having it done as quickly as possible......

Thoughts?

It sounds like they are expanding their concierage services. That makes sense as the full concierage is only a few rooms.

So do you think they are closing the North Wing and changing it to DVC? I loved staying in the North Wing!

I know, it does sound kind of strange. But it may turn out great because I spoke to a CM who told me that the 10th floor will most likely be remodeled by the time we are there. And what I'm thinking is, whenever the 10th floor is officially turned into the "Atrium Club" it will be all renovated. Maybe it's even done now! I hope! I hope! I hope!

I mean, why would they open a new concierge floor if it hadn't been made over?

Pretty exciting! :cheer2:
