Just Got a Call From Disney

I say upgrade too. There's a king bed and whirlpool tub in the master suite. :thumbsup2 Just a little more:wizard: for getting into vwl.

It's very interesting reading this thread. Not too long ago, a DIS'er posted about getting a call from AKL to move to SSR due to construction. I think almost everyone in that thread said not to do it. Many had been moved there last September when the value resort oversold and they didn't like it at all. Just interesting seeing basically the same thread, but with exactly the opposite opinions.

I think that the big difference is the starting location. From FW to SSR is an upgrade. From AKL to SSR is not.

That being said, I'm not a fan of any of the mega-resorts where you practically need a bus to get to your room from the food court. :scared1: I think that's why the people who were moved to SSR from one of the values weren't crazy about the move. However, since the OP was already at a really spread out resort (FW) then it's not that much different I think.

Your idea about asking if the OP could do WLV instead was a good one...might work, and great if it does, but I doubt it. I suspect that they usually have tons of space at SSR, and they are looking to fill it...

Boy I wished they would call us; we will be at FW on July 26- Aug 2.
We would love an up grade to any of the 2 bedroom villas.

Having stayed at all three of those resorts I have to agree. Cabin to SSR is an upgrade, AKL to SSR is not.

Actually, post #35 above by Eeyore states that they were first offered SSR under the same FW cabin upgrade, but asked for other options. They were offered and accepted a 1 bedroom villa at WL. It may be too late now for a 2-bedroom, but I'd prefer to stay in the same area that I originally booked, especially with the proximity to the Magic Kingdom.

Beware! You could get spoiled. Many people have found this type of thing leads to addiction, followed by a DVC membership.:lmao:

Oh, yes. Disney is very crafty with the upgrades. We got upgraded from ASMu to a 1 BR at OKW last year, and will always stay DVC when traveling to WDW with more than 2 people in the future. I'm planning on buying into BCV as soon as I can swing it, too. For one or two people, a hotel room is great, but the upgrade to the 1BR made my last trip if not heaven (I did bring a teenager, after all), at least a whole lot better.

SSR is a beautiful resort. I can see where someone wanting AKL being disappointed about moving to SSR. Everyone wants a good room at AKL for the views (animals). SSR views can't compare.
However I think the OP will love the villas at SSR, esp with the age of her daughters, more room, etc!
Make sure to visit the PI clubs while they are still open. Last call! :goodvibes

You could call back & ask if you could have WLV instead. A quick boat ride away from MK.

I don't think anyone has mentioned the size of the beds yet! The cabin only has full size beds, and you will be getting a king, and at least one queen in the 2nd bedroom. This really makes for better sleeping for DH and I.

We're arriving next weekend and plan to visit PI for the Adventurer's Club and Comedy Warehouse on Friday evening and again on Thursday, maybe we'll see some of you there.
