Just Got A 40% Off Code

Hi, I too received the 40% off email this morning. So many people have asked how we are getting this email. Well, I logged on to Disney's site yesterday and saved two different trip itineraries for Pop but did not book anything. We were planning to go in May so I was just getting ideas on the cost but now I have to rethink everything!! We have no trips booked for this year and our last trip was in '06. I don't know if my logging on and saving a trip had anything to do with it but if you haven't gotten the email it wouldn't hurt to try!

For those who got the code, did anyone already have a trip booked for 2008? I am wondering if maybe I didn't get it because I already booked a trip?:confused3

Also, just out of curiosity, what was the subject line of the email?

I did not get an email, just a postcard. I let my APs expire in Oct and had no reservations booked for 08. Now I have two!

I got the 40% off email from Disney Destinations yesterday and felt like I had found a golden ticket in a Wonka bar...until I realized none of the dates worked for us unless we wanted to go in August....even 40% can't entice me to put up with the heat and crowds. Oh well, we are planning a return in 2009 and we just got back a few weeks ago so I guess as much as it pains me I'll have to pass on this great deal.

BTW - I can tell you the only thing I've done lately is fill out a survey they sent me on our recent Poly stay but I don't think it ever asked for my email so I don't think that is what drove me getting this discount. I have not called about booking a trip in 2008, haven't requested a DVD since 2006....nothing being mentioned as possible reasons for receiving the discount. I do get the normal "Disney Destination" email but it sounds like others do as well that did not get the email. I really think their offers are just made to random samples of people who have provided their email at some point in time.

So i went to disneyworld.com and realized that I too was on the "no-email" list. I updated my preferences and I'm hoping that maybe that will change my luck and now I'll get the 40% off code!

I hadn't made any bookings for 2008 as of the day I got the email (Tues) but like another poster I had been going to the WDW site and pricing out different resorts for our dates. That was over the weekend.

As for the email I received, there was a Pin code attached that you had to refer to when calling the number. It was not a newsletter like I normally get from Disney Destinations, but more like an ad/memo type thing. Last year, I received a postcard in the mail for a code, but we could not use because it was an adult dd's who doesn't live here anymore. Not sure how that worked out since she has only been to WDW with us in the past? We ended up using the same discount when it became a public code later in the year. When it became a public code I got an email, and there was a link to WDW.com to price out the trip. So, the bottom line is not to get discouraged as I do think there is a possibility it will become a public code before too long. I have never received anything that didn't later become public. I think it has something to do with the dates available falling into the "Wonderful Weeks" thing, but not sure.

I don't know how I got it other than what is posted above...no rhyme or reason to it I think. There were a few times, we have used AAA rates but others were getting great "pin" codes for their dates so I don't know.

For those that booked a package.. did you get 40% off dining AND tickets? I am on the phone with CRO now and they said the only PIN out there is for the room of 40% off ... no discount on dining or tickets? It went from $2200 for 10nights to $3700 for 10 nights, dining and 1 day base tickets.

I received a code on my work e-mail today. When I called they said it was actually linked to my sister's name who live just across town. They also told me that since I do not live in the same house as her, even though she is my sister, I can't use the code. She verified that my e-mail address was linked to my name & address, but the code is linked to my sister and that it must of been a computer error. Should I call back to speak with a manager or am I just out of luck?

I did book a package but the discount was on the room only...And I was told you could book with either reg DDP or Dddp. No platnum or premium included. So I am assuming full price for ddp and tickets, room is discounted.

I would call back. Last year I got the 40% off code but it was listed under my best friends name (and my address). There was no problem using it and we were never asked for the postcard when we checked in.

My friend got this 40% off email today. She forwarded it to me, so that I now have seen the pin number too. My question is this: is the pin number specific to an individual or can more than one person use the pin to receive the discount. My friend is planning a trip in December and I am planning one for either the same time in December, or more likely, in November. Can we both use the pin number provided to receive a discount?

It is so weird how they select people to receive these discount emails. I have been to Disney 4 times in the past year and my friend hasn't been to Disney in AGES. I wonder if it truly is random or how they determine who gets the codes.

Anyway, if anyone can answer my question, I am trying not to get too excited just in case I can't use her code.

Thanks!

WOO HOO!!! Booked the GF in Sept for a great rate. DH and I will be celebrating our 25th Anniversary in Style. Last week I requested a Planning DVD so maybe that's how they got my email address? The CM who made the reservation for me said it was a "luck of the draw thing". I've never received anything like that before, although we have been to WDW 9 times and always stay on property. This email was from Disney Destinations, LLC and was for 40% off Deluxe Resorts. Sounds like it was the same thing another poster wrote about that they received in the snail mail....had pop up targets to click on for different dates, etc. Don't know if it would've included package stuff...we always do our tickets separate so I didn't even ask about package deals. Just FYI: I didn't even have to give them the code (which was a 15 digit number) because it was already linked to my name in their computer. The CM seemed shocked at the low price when she pulled up my rates and stated "This is the best deal I've ever seen," but maybe she was just trying to make me feel good but whatever...it worked!!! :thumbsup2

It is specific to whoever got it. Although, your friend can probably book a room for you using it, when I called they said you can book up to 3 rooms with the 40% off code.

I just called and made reservations for POFQ  We are doing 7 nights in Oct. with the dining plan and 7 day tickets no hopper and it came to $2300. She told me the discount was only on the room. She also said she was getting a lot of calls about this discount.

Would you mind telling us if it was reg Ddp or the Ddp? How many guests?
Thanks!

I got the 40% off, also, but I'm confused
because when I call they quote me at AKL a rate of $276/night for savannah
in value season 12/7/08, but the vale seaon rate is already only $290. How is this 40% off? It must be off rack vs. value, but I thought $290 was the "rack
rate at that time? Can anyone answer this? Thanks a lot.

Very interesting! Maybe why I feel like my quote, also for AKL seemed a little high. Hope someone comes along. I thought that maybe I was off because this year certain days change to certain amounts and that is where I was messing up. Is that still true?

Called & spoke with guest services, as the CM would not let me speak to a CRO manager. Was told that they don't know why the code was e-mailed to me, but it is associated strictly to my sister and that only she could use the code and would have to be part of the traveling party. She also said that the code was not transferable. I asked why I would have received the e-mail, since my sister's e-mail address that is associated with her name is completely different from mine, but was told that "don't know but you can't use the code." What really bugs me is that when I called this morning the CM did not say anything about this and gave me some great quotes, better than my AAA quotes.
