Just Got A 40% Off Code

Yah, I got the 40% off in an email. It was in a junk email that I don't check very often (so it does pay to check, check and check some more)and the code came up under my ex-husband's name of all things, registered to our old address. :lmao:
So, needless to say we are going to do a week at ASMu now. The travel dates for the promo fall in peak season so our total room with discount was $578. Good luck to everyone looking for a pin or code! :)

How strange is this? I just got this "post card" (ok flyer) in the mail yesterday. Kind of late since the Jan part is over. While it was in my name, my last name was spelled wrong (a common way to spell my name, but just not the way DH's family does.) The code is rather long.

I hear ya! Mine was sent late, to me....first name spelled wrong, "Erih". Huh? I think they meant Erin. No biggy. Last name was my maiden name...I was married 7 years ago. This was sent to our current address, to the house that we bought a year after we were married. Never lived at my current address with my maiden name. ?!?! Very very odd. Made a ressie today with the code and they actually had to hyphenate my name on the ressie for the code to be used (I'm not hyphented in 'real life', only in the world of the Disney reservation system). Bizarre. Disney, for all it's Imagineering wonders, has got to have the most antiquated computer system ever! I have changed my phone # umpteen-thousand times and it absolutely will not save! I always have to give my old phone (6 years old) when calling and pulling up a ressie.

Time to sick the imagineers on that conundrum!!

NCMOMof3, I was wondering what time frame you were looking at? Just curious since you said that the CR is already sold out...yikes! I received my postcard a couple of days ago  , so I had better kick it into high gear and get a room! :woohoo:

I wonder if they would let me use it???? My SIL says she sometimes spells her name this way on some web sites, but I never do. :confused3

I don't think we are going to be able to use the codes, but I am soooo temped. I found good air fair doing the week too (Mon to Thursday) but I just can't see taking DD out of school twice in such a short time (for a total of 10 days.) That would be pushing it. Some days I wish we home schooled (actually only on days I want to vacation when I want to, not any other times.)

What dates were these good for? Man, am I jealous!

We are going August 10-17. We asked for MK view and that was sold out! Good luck!

Here's my saga:

- We booked last August for next August, 6 nights at the Contemporary

-On Tuesday, when I got home from work, THE postcard was waiting for me, complete with "40% off on a moderate, call for other offers."

- At 4:30 pm (in other words, immediately) I called our AAA agent and had him inquire. He got back to me 20 minutes later with 3 options:
a) Keep our existing Contemporary ressies
b) Switch to the Grand Floridian and save $200
c) Switch to the Poly and save $450
I left at 5:10 to take my daughter to Speech therapy.

- At 7:30 I emailed my AAA agent, asking him to take the Poly. The office was closed for the day.

- Weds: Right after my first class (9:10 am) I call AAA-- my agent isn't working on Wednesday.

-Thursday: Again, right after my first class( 9;10 am) I call AAA and confirm that I want him to change to the Poly.

- 6:00 pm. I arrive home (from school then speech)to find an email from my agent: The code rooms at the Poly are all booked up; he can't get me one.

- 6:10: I call Disney. They can't access my ressie; the agent has to authorize them to do it, not me. But it's conceivable that all the Poly rooms under the code have been taken. Since I still have ressies at the Contemporary, they should be able to discount the rooms I originally booked.

6:20pm: I e mail AAA. I tell him what the CM told me, and authorize him to make any of the following changes to my ressie:
a) Poly, $450 cheaper
b) Contemporay, 40% off (or anything close)
c) Grand Floriian, $200 cheaper
d) upgrade at Contemporary, as long as it doesn't cost more.

Does this sound legit to you?? 40 hours passed between the time I got the code and the time the AAA agent tried to use it, and now it's no good????

You guys know your stuff-- please tell me what I do if tomorrow's response is that nothing can be done.

----------- Someone help!!!

Hi! I booked through a AAA a couple of years ago for our last trip. When free dining came out,(which I knew about right away thanks to the wonderful people on these boards), I was told by 3 different AAA agents that they couldn't get it. I decided to call Disney myself and check. I was able to get my hotel, the WL with the free dining no problem. I then called my AAA agent and told her. She then offered to cancel my existing reservation and claim the newest reservation from Disney. I did the work, but she got the commission. ;)
I sometimes think it's better to handle these codes and discounts ourselves. It's okay if you make a new reservation yourself. Are you under any penalties right now? If not, make it yourself and then call AAA and cancel your old one. 40 hours is way too long to wait for help! Good luck to you. :wizard:

If I want to add on the dining plan to my 40% off room reservation, do I have to buy park tickets too? I don't need park tickets. Can someone explain how this works? :confused3

Yes, to purchase the DDP you must include park tickets. (Not just for the code, but for any WDW trip)
You could do a one day non park hopper for each member in the family, but that probably wouldn't be very cost effective. Or you could get no expiration passes and use them later.
