Hi All! I have committed to a 5K in August. I am VERY excited about this new goal I have set for myself. I've lost around 25 pounds since December, and have pretty much reached the weight I want to be. Now I am even more focused on working out my muscles and becoming stronger.
I went to Jeff Galloway's site (recommended by AmyBeth68) and have a couple of questions.
I am ok with the run/walk that he explains...but on the 3rd day of the week, he states to just run a certain distance. How do I know how far I've gone when I'm running? Do you drive it first to know where to go? (I'm sorry this probably sounds so silly, but I definitely lack common sense!)
Up until now I've been doing the eliptical at home 3 days a week. I've been at 30 minutes for a while, but just increased to 35 minutes this week. Should I still start at week 1? I have plenty of time before the race (20 weeks), so either way it's ok with me.
And cross training...I'm thinking I shouldn't do the eliptical? I enjoy cardio kickboxing and would like to do some ab work. How much time do I need to devote to these on those days? Or what other exercises do you recommend?
I'm not done reading his site, and I am probably going to go buy a book...but any info you'd like to share is GREATLY appreciated!!
