Wow !! I just found out that my RCI points can be used at a deluxe Disney resort !!! How awesome is THAT ?? Can't wait to get on the phone with those people tomorrow !!! Woot !!:cheer2:

I don't want to burst your bubble but RCI came out with the promotion over a year ago, and we have been on the waiting list since October 2009. We have RCI through the old WEEKS system and not points, so I figure that is why it hasn't worked for us. An RCI rep told me that they have to wait for a DVC member to offer and exchange to a RCI resort, then the disney resort gets offered to the first one on the list. Good Luck. We did our research and actually found that it was just as cheap to book a deal through disney direct. We got the 40% off Deluxe Resort with Dining and tickets and saved big. We go in 14 days. Yeah. Bay Lake Towers here we come. I really hope it works out for you. It would be a nice way to exchange. We have 3 weeks to use in the next few months with RCI because we were saving them for Disney, now we are stuck with them.

Hopefully it will work out better with points. I should have know it was too good to be true !! I'll find out tomorrow. We still get the killer deal through RCI regardless and can do Disney very inexpensively. I just thought it would be nice to stay on-site for once. :)

I hope it works out for you. I am a HGVC owner and was able to use my points through RCI to get OKW for a week no problem.

You can only use a % of points to do that plus there's a fee to get the discount with other limitations. In the old days you could use as many points as you had, maybe buy up park passes if you had points that were expiring, pay completely for air, etc. Those days are gone unfortunately.

A while back we did this using points that were given to us by a family friend who could not use them due to work commitments. She has a lot of points, so she has a lot of trading power (or whatever it is they call it. sorry I'm not familiar with the terminology) and was able to get us the week we wanted very easily. She did have to watch for it every day starting at about 9-10 months out and if she didn't jump on it right away, we didn't get it. For example, we initially hesitated on a 2-bedroom at Boardwalk available in early December and it was gone in 30 minutes. I have heard that BLT and VWL are very difficult to get and that the Epcot resorts are impossible to get during Food and Wine, but it seemed like everything else was available, especially if you had some flexibility with your dates.

After she made the reservation, all I had to do was give the RCI representative at DVC Mouse Services my RCI confirmation number which she converted to a regular DVC reservation, and then she added my information (husband, kids' ages, etc) to the reservation. The DVC rep was wonderful. She could not have been more helpful. Check-in was also very easy, so it's obvious that Disney has been dealing with a lot of these RCI trades. They upgraded up from a standard view (which I think is what most RCI trades are) to a Savanah view without us even asking.

Good luck!

I don't think the OP is asking about trading in to DVC resorts but rather using RCI points like cash at Disney hotels. I could be wrong and the answers would be different if so.

That's interesting. How does that work? Would you use it to stay at the GF or CR and the like?

I have used RCI points to get a DVC resort without any problems. We booked about five months in advance to get the week we wanted. We got a 2 bdrm at BWV. I've searched both weeks and points and seen plenty of DVC resorts. Now I assume the high volume weeks are hard/impossible to get. We travel at low times so that is probably why I've seen so many choices.

I was talking about booking a DVC resort with my RCI points. On the RCI website it lists points values for all of the resorts they trade with. All of this info is awesome guys. Keep it coming !!

The resorts listed were: Old Key West, Beach Club, Wilderness Lodge, Kidani Village at Animal Kingdom and Sarasota Springs. There might have been another one, I don't have the RCI site up right now. All of those sound great to me. I am happy to know that some of you have had success with this.

Oh ... and Bay Lake Tower. I don't know how I forgot that one !!

We've done the same thing with RCI points my inlaws couldn't use. I started looking 10 months in advance and found a 2 bedroom at OKW for us for Dec 3-9 (we'd wanted Dec 4 to 10) and then a one bedroom at Kidani with savanna view for March 18-24. It took until May to get the OKW reservation and I looked every single day since early Feb. The March reservation at Kidani I got almost immediately at the 10 month mark.

There were extra RCI charges for exchange to DVC, for a gift certificate to me and my DH for the March stay, and the $95 fee we'll have to pay Disney at checkin. The best part is that DH and I are saving the DVC points we would have used for the two trips.

We have RCI weeks and have been able to get some weeks - I was able to book a 2bdrm at SSR last Sept that I booked about 7 months out and I just booked a 1 bdrm at OKW for next April so about 10 months out. I know with these trades I book what is available and use our DVC points around them. For those of you trading into to RCI for Disney, where do you own and are they a fixed week/flex week or points? We own at Palace Resorts and have flex weeks.

OK, thanks for clarifying. Since the other option is also available for various items, cruises, etc. But why wait to get on the phone, why not go online and look for yourself. DVC doesn't normally deposit a new resort for a couple of years, I'm not sure they've started doing deposits with BLT.

DVC tends to be available for off season, smaller units and lower demand resorts more than the reverse. We have a large family trip planned for Sept with multiple units all booked through RCI, some through RCI weeks and some through RCI points.

Yes, she was able to get all of those. She hasn't been able to get BLT. It seems like a lot of Kidani Village/Beach Club units come up at the 10 month mark, whereas closer to your stay it's a lot of Saratoga Springs. Although, I do know she got a VWL a few months out once.

Good luck and keep us posted.

I am also wondering what the best timeshares are to own that will pull good DVC trades (either weeks or points). I am thinking of adding a timeshare to the current one I own...my current one is in Orlando and wont get me a DVC. But it does get me Vero Beach :)

The problem is it's a moving target and RCI will not give you the code. I'd say RCI points non Orlando is the most consistent single option.

I used my RCI Points to stay a week last year during food & wine at the Boardwalk, and my sister did an exchange with hers to get an August week at the Beach Club. Not to shabby!
