I don't think the OP is asking about trading in to DVC resorts but rather using RCI points like cash at Disney hotels. I could be wrong and the answers would be different if so.A while back we did this using points that were given to us by a family friend who could not use them due to work commitments. She has a lot of points, so she has a lot of trading power (or whatever it is they call it. sorry I'm not familiar with the terminology) and was able to get us the week we wanted very easily. She did have to watch for it every day starting at about 9-10 months out and if she didn't jump on it right away, we didn't get it. For example, we initially hesitated on a 2-bedroom at Boardwalk available in early December and it was gone in 30 minutes. I have heard that BLT and VWL are very difficult to get and that the Epcot resorts are impossible to get during Food and Wine, but it seemed like everything else was available, especially if you had some flexibility with your dates.
After she made the reservation, all I had to do was give the RCI representative at DVC Mouse Services my RCI confirmation number which she converted to a regular DVC reservation, and then she added my information (husband, kids' ages, etc) to the reservation. The DVC rep was wonderful. She could not have been more helpful. Check-in was also very easy, so it's obvious that Disney has been dealing with a lot of these RCI trades. They upgraded up from a standard view (which I think is what most RCI trades are) to a Savanah view without us even asking.
Good luck!

That's interesting. How does that work? Would you use it to stay at the GF or CR and the like?

OK, thanks for clarifying. Since the other option is also available for various items, cruises, etc. But why wait to get on the phone, why not go online and look for yourself. DVC doesn't normally deposit a new resort for a couple of years, I'm not sure they've started doing deposits with BLT.I was talking about booking a DVC resort with my RCI points. On the RCI website it lists points values for all of the resorts they trade with. All of this info is awesome guys. Keep it coming !!
The resorts listed were: Old Key West, Beach Club, Wilderness Lodge, Kidani Village at Animal Kingdom and Sarasota Springs. There might have been another one, I don't have the RCI site up right now. All of those sound great to me. I am happy to know that some of you have had success with this.
The problem is it's a moving target and RCI will not give you the code. I'd say RCI points non Orlando is the most consistent single option.I am also wondering what the best timeshares are to own that will pull good DVC trades (either weeks or points). I am thinking of adding a timeshare to the current one I own...my current one is in Orlando and wont get me a DVC. But it does get me Vero Beach![]()
Wow !! I just found out that my RCI points can be used at a deluxe Disney resort !!! How awesome is THAT ?? Can't wait to get on the phone with those people tomorrow !!! Woot !!![]()
