After our June vacation to Disney World, I got to thinking about all the simple things that really scared our family. For example,
here is my family's list of mundane things that were truly frightening:

1. The monorail - My 37 yr. old sister is claustrophobic and it stopped for a one minute safety check between stations. She never rode one again.

2. Sci Fi Cafe - My seven-year-old DS was terribly scared of the campy horror movie trailers.

3. Fireworks - My 3-year-old hated them, even from far away. He fell asleep each night with his hands over his ears.

4. The Tiki Poles that come alive in the Tiki Room. Anyone else find them creepy?

5. Really, really, really obese women in bikinis at TL. 'Nuff said.

What else can you think of?

Someone whos a completely jerk at WDW...I mean, you're at the happiest place on earth. Have some common curtisy people.

the alien used to SCARE ME TO DEATH from GMR. I used to make excuses not to go on that ride. Oh I uh need to go to the bathroom. There isnt any wait you go ill go to the bathroom and meet you at the exit.

Alien Encounter too. I used to ride the TTA while my family did it. I would look for them in the outside line. I was a scaredy cat.

I have vague memories of being 4 yeras old and freaking out in the Tiki Room when the Tiki poles came to life. hahaha. The next year, I freaked out when Pooh tried to eat me. I am truly frightened by the Disneyland Pin Traders. I'm not talking about the harmless ones you'll see at WDw. I'm talking about the truly frightening, obsessed, push over little kids ones you see at DL. ::shudder::

The total of my purchases. :earseek:

DL -- Big Thunder ride ;)

That may have gone out the window. I read quite a thread on another board on what happened yesterday at DTD PT over a Stitch Judo pin. :earseek: :earseek: :earseek:
I am very glad I was not there.

That the Cap't Jack toddy hut on the DTD pier will be closed when I visit!

My DD3 (last summer) was terrified of Snow White's Scarey Adventure in MK. After I'll trip last year, she was so frightened she wouldn't even look at the pictures (so I had to rip it our her picture book).

I've purchased the DVD and plan to watch it with her on our way down to Disney in a few weeks!!!!! :hyper: :hyper:

Definitely the prices!

Trams are pretty scary. I'm always worried about children tumbling out. I don't drive at WDW so I've never taken them there, but I've taken them at DL and those things are scary!

Dinosaur (I know it's not mundane, but as an adult I don't think it should scare me the way it does!) Last trip, I spent the whole ride with my face buried in my husband's shoulder, and it was even the second time I had been on it! The first time, we had our DD with us, and I spent the whole ride feeling like the worst mother in the world, trying to keep her from becoming hysterical, so I was too preoccupied to be scared.

When I went as a 7 year old in '86, I was TERRIFIED of the fireworks. The noise was too much, AND I was afraid the embers would burn me. The whole time of the display my face was buried in my grandmother's leg! LOL!

But now, I definitely think those trams are scary. People DON'T listen to the cast members working them and try to board as the things are moving! I'm always afraid someone's going to get hurt.

I also feel SO stupid for admitting this, but at 25 years old - the characters creep me out. I don't know why, and I know how ridiculous it is. On my honeymoon though - I plan to face my fear and have a photo taken with a character or two. :)

OH! And the BIRDS!!! A seagull attacked me and my hot dog in Tomorrowland. Those birds scare the crap out of me! (And judging by the looks of the seating outside of Pirata y el Perico, we humans scare the crap out of the birds! )

Tour groups rushing past you! That crowd could swallow you up, and your family would have to retrieve you from overseas!!! LOL!!

I think Astro-Orbiter is the scariest ride. Besides the fact that I don't like heights, the thing tips and jiggles so much (at least it did with me in it) that I felt like it was going to fall off any second. I'm really not a large person, but on that ride, I felt over the weight limit. The ride that scared the heck out of DS #1 was POTC, specifically the scene with the cannons and boat shooting at each other. That really did him in.

There's one audio-anamatronic guy on SSE that completly creeps me out! He's towards the end working in the printing press- there's just something about his eyes!

The alien in GMR still gets me, too!

I, too, am totally afraid of the Dinosaur ride!!! I have ridden it a number of times, but no matter what...the T-rex gets me each time! There's just something about it...being in the dark, dinosaurs poping out at you...I can't stand it! I had to go on it on my last trip with DH and covered my eyes as much as I could.

Also, I had to repeat "It's not real, It's not real" so many times to calm myself down in order to even get in the car!!!

Yikes,
Korey

The clowns in Spectromagic remind me of Chucky...creepy! Maybe they should change the orange/red, bowl cut wigs?

I also am scared in Dinosaur - but it doesn't stop me from going on it.

When DD was 4 we were going to ride the Tea Cups and The Queen of Hearts happened to be standing right where we were waiting in line. DD had on a really cute Alice in Wonderland outfit and the Queen kept making the "off with her head" signal (finger across the neck). When we got off the ride the Queen came over and stuck a Mickey sticker over Alice's face on DD's shirt and motioned that she would sign DD's autograph book. My DD looked terrified!!! Poor thing was scared and we still make it a game to run past the tea cups if the Queen is out. The costume is pretty creepy!!!!
