We are packing up this morning and heading down to SSR for our last week of vacation. The main pool and spa, as well as the mercantile, community hall and tide me over were closed the entire week. It was very cold here until yesterday. Half of the dinning locations on the island are closed (off season).

Having said this we had a great time. This is the 8th DVC property we have visitied (only BLT and Vero are left). By far the Cast Members here are the best. There were only 8 units occupied at the resort until thurday night when the holiday weekend guests started arriving. Our kids got top notch attention from the castmembers. Activities were held at the lodge, and we participated in several. We went to Savannah one day and also visited a great museum on the island. The campfire was lots of fun and our Villa in building 17 was in excellent condition. I think the HHI floorplan is the best overall for a comfortable family stay (family of 5 in a two bedroom dedicated). I imagine the resort is even better during the summer when the weather is warmer and the Island is full of life. We will be back someday in perhaps September or October when we can get in on our points. Now I know why HHI has such a loyal following.

Woah, mercantile, tide me over, and CH were closed. What was up with that???? I know when we were there over NYE, our last day, they had had some problems in CH with water.... Was it related to that, or the weather???

We are here now, on a quick 2 night stay on our way back up north from WDW. It's been rainy, cold, and nothing is open! :(

That being said, we were able to do the campfire last night, which was fun. Took a short trip to the beach house to put our feet in the ocean this morning (freezing!) and took a tour of Harbour Town light house this afternoon. I agree the 2 bedroom is well laid out and spacious.

I can see how it would be more fun during the summer though...

Yes, aren't those cm's great!! And they are even great when the resort is at full capacity during the summer months!! Definately check HHI out during a warmer weather month too, you will have such a great time!!!

We were at Hilton Head last January during the MLK Jr. weekend/ and last year's "once in a generation" cold snap.

It was great, but DID enjoy it more in November than in very cold January.

Were the floors really cold?
