Just exchanged Halloween for Christmas

I know it will be crazy busy, crowded to the max, and the weather cooler, but we just changed our plans. We are now going 12/22-12/30, instead of Halloween! For the experienced folks, will the weather allow some pool time?

I'm glad you got something! I love to swim but the most recent Decembers have not been kind to me swimming weather wise. I try....for the second week in December last year, I went in a hot tub exactly once, and as I say, I was motivated. None of my guests, 4 in all, nor hubby, got wet.

For our New Years Eve stay, it was a bit better, I think the whole family went swimming for a few hours at least twice. My DGC love to swim, their lips may look purple, but they are "fine."

Hey! We'll be there those same dates

Two years back we were down there over Christmas & New Years and found the parks to be fantastic and not too crowded. We were there for the environment more than the rides but still we managed to get in a ton. The parks were open later and single rider lines helped.

The nights got very cold, but the days were in the 60s and my 11 yo decided the pools were perfectly heated for swimming a couple of times. I do suggest everyone wear layers: It's beautiful during the day, but we experienced the temps dropping as much as 30 or so degrees by sundown. BRrrrr. I had a pair of gloves for the nights and used them well. The kids wouldn't consider using them.

I was amazed that there was availability, I had some different resorts to choose from. BLT was available the first three nights, BCV, almost the entire time, OKW and SSR were completely available. I do have to call back tomorrow and hopefully add one more night to our standard view reservation at AKL. I would love to know what types of views the standard category entails at AKL-Jambo. We are in a studio. AKL is not our favorite, due to the distance from other things, but we did not want to take a chance on booking BLT for the first three nights, then not find anything starting the 25th, since I would have to wait to call back 5/25 to book the rest of the week, since I am at the 7 month window. We did want the "hotel lobby" type feel, so we went with AKL, vs OKW or SSR.
Now to wait to book some dining reservations!

AK at Christmas is wonderful! we stayed there last year and loved it.
We just booked last week for Christmas and had so many choices of resorts. I was very surprised as well.
As for swimming during this time of year, it depends. We have been with shorts and tshirts, and other years with coats, gloves and hats!

We have been to the World only one other time in December, our kids were not yet two, so needless to say it was not too exciting for them or us. That year it was one of "the coldest Decembers" or so we were told
Now to see if the talented folks on the Creative boards can come up with something for a great T-shirt design!

2010 was the coldest January to date, I think. We were in Disney for the Marathon weekend. There was ice on the dock of the Contemporary! We went visiting places in Florida that DS's family were thinking of moving to and this shows just how cold that January was. The development was south of Jacksonville!

PS. DS and the DGC went swimming once that trip!

I'm sure our two will have to try out the pool. It was a bit if a challenge getting them to agree to switch our plans from warm October to chilly December!
