Obviously, September 11th, 2001 was a day that is now permanantly etched in my, and many of your minds. September 11th is a day that really makes us think, it has forever remided us to never take like for granted.
I would like to share my story, however it has nothing to do with the attacks. Merely the date is the only similarity.
September 11th, 2007 I was sitting in the hospital fighting for my life. I was depleted of every fluid in my body, needed several blood transfusions, and needed several electrolyte transfusions. I was knocking on deaths door. That night I had one of the most scariest experiances in my life. Google dystonic reaction. My body was so rigid and stuff I couldn't move. I couldn't talk, my face was contorted, my neck was rolled all the way back, and my eyes weren't functioning. My mental capability was all in tact though. I kept in touch with my mom and my doctors by squeezing my moms hand "Sonya, it's squeeze 1 for yes, 2 for no". I will never forget the fear in my mothers voice that night. I really thought I was going to die.
And now here I am. I am free of cancer, back in school, doing as much as a normal teenage girl can.
Never take life for granted, it can be taken away in a second.
Sonya.
