May God put his healing hands upon you.......... :grouphug:

Those are beautiful words. Thanks so much.

Please do not overdue after the surgery with exercising too quickly. You don't want excessive scar tissue to form.....that is a bad cycle to deal with and painful.

I had a cyst removed from one of my ovaries that was the size of a grapefruit. Mine was done by a scope. I didn't listen to the "taking it easy part" and developed bad scar tissue from that and 4 other abdominal surgeries. I did have another surgery to remove the scar tissue but it just redevelops, hence the bad cycle. That is why I mentioned the scar tissue build up.

Take care. Listen to what they say and you will be fine. :grouphug:

I've had cyst problems for a long time, usually they come and go, but I always know when I get one because it will hurt really bad on one side, almost always my right. I had exactly what you have a few years ago. I had a cyst that just didn't go away, and it was pretty obvious on the ultrasound that it was getting bigger. My doctor went in laproscopically and removed the cyst and while she was in there removed the endometriosis I had too. The surgery took about an hour, and I was able to go home that day. All I had was a tiny little scar in my belly button. I was sore for a few days, but I felt so much better without that cyst! I still get them from time to time, but nothing horrible. Good luck to you!

Thanks everyone.

Nancy, thanks for your comments, how long were you in the hospital?

Hospital stay was 3 days. (The day of the surgery and 2 days after.)

I had the surgery due to infertility problems, my scarring was so bad it had pulled my tubes and ovaries out of place, they took out all the scar tissue and put things back where they belonged. 5 months later I was pregnant so the surgery worked. I never had problems with endometriosis once I had the kids, I still get cysts, but not as often as I used to, and like I said, mine always dissolve.

I had a large ovarian cyst removed about 3 years ago. They planned to do it laparascopically because the MD thought is was small. It turned out to be over 6inches wide and weighed 5lb :earseek: He about died when he saw it. It all turned out okay, except that I had to stay for 6 days because part of my lung collapsed and I developed pneumonia. So my recovery was a little longer than most but the pain wasn't too bad and the drugs were very good. Once I healed up i no longer had the back pain and terrible pressure that I had been dealing with. My scar is about 6 inches long, in the bikini area. You can hardly see it now(not that i'd show it off or anything.)

Mainly because my cyst is over 3 inches (its over 4 inches). It really depends on how much room they need to remove it. Best wishes to you and when are you having yours?

Probably in the next week or two. I think my cysts are much smaller, the last ultrasound showed several in both ovaries but they are only 3 or 4 centimeters each. I can't even imagine how sore you must be! I had the laproscopic surgery last march for endometreosis and was sore for a couple days, honestly the pain I'm in now is much worse than the pain after the surgery, but laproscopic is much less invasive.

I have also had mulitple problems with cysts, mine were dermoids. My first surgery was a Laporscopic with the rest (4 others) being full surgeries. To be honest the scope surgery bothered me the most, maybe because it was my first but also because that insicision is right there at your belly button wears you button your jeans. With a surgery like yours you can expect to be up and walking within 24hrs post op and most of the major pain is gone within a week. You should expect to be out of the gym for about 6 weeks.

My last surgery was a complete hysterectomy at 32, the downside is not being able to have anymore kids but the upside I feel way better than I did the prior to the surgery and get fully enjoy raising DD.

I had one burst when I was in college, the surgery HAS to be better then that. I know I was in less pain from my C-Sections then I was when that cyst ruptured. Good luck with your surgery!

I had an ovarian cyst removed via emergency surgery about 1 1/2 ago (mine was about 10cm.) The recovery was a bit rough the first 2 or 3 days but after that I felt much better!

Good luck and prayers for your surgery. I know how stressful this all can be but you will feel TONS better when it is over and done with.

Jill,

You know you have mine. And you know (well almost) how to find me if you need me for ANYTHING. And I mean that sincerely.

Debbie

Been there, done that. It's really not so bad. You will have to take it easy for a few weeks though, but after a week or so you can probably do some walking, just no lifting.

Me too. I was up walking two days afterwards and had resumed a normal routine (except for ab work) within a month.

Sending :wizard: to help you along!

Wow, I feel alot better after reading all these posts. Thanks a million everyone. I know it'll hurt for awhile. But reading these made me feel that I'll get over this sooner than later.

Deb, you're a sweetheart, thanks for that. :)

I will add you to my prayers. My cousin had the surgery several years ago, and all turned out well. Please be sure not to overdo after you get home. She insisted on getting in the shower 3 times a day, and her incision opened up. My sister came to check her and we took her back to the Dr the next morning...after that she relaxed a bit. :grouphug: and some :wizard: coming your way.

Jillpie, I too had a similar size cyst and surgery. While its not fun, its really not too bad either.

The worst part was at home -- i took Tylenol W/Codiene and got constipated! Yuck! Not a good thing when you're having incision pain. So once I took care of that ;) I took 3 or 4 Advil at a time and that worked.

Hang in there and I will pray for you. Let us know how it goes.
